    Puccis Pet Salon
Over the two years (probably 8 groomings) -- When calling the owner is often harried and rude on the phone (and not much better when you pickup from appointment).  She takes the time to be sure to point out how busy she is and do not expect to get in immediately (which I do not expect anyway) so must plan weeks ahead.  She often runs behind schedule.  At least twice she was running 2 hours late and our dog was there for about 5 hours, not available for pickup until 8:00-9:00 p.m. so we had to adjust our activities.
Just recently I had to cancel appointment.  I called the day before, she was too busy to talk to me (despite the fact she actually answered the phone) and did not call me back.  I was trying to resolve my conflict with appointment time and called again the morning of the appointment.  Voicemail phone tag and she was running important errands so I texted (so as to not interrupt her meetings) letting her know I was unable to resolve conflict and would have to cancel.  I got rude responses that I did not cancel 24 hours prior; despite calling day before my phone call was 21 hours before the appointment.  Further text lecture, "When you make an appointment with someone who has a 24 hour mandatory cancelation policy it's a contract." Not her fault. Her time if valuable and she does not like to waste it.
After missed appointment fee is paid we can get back on the schedule.  Missed appointment fee will certainly be paid but reschedule not necessary.  While the grooming is high quality (our dog looked beautiful every time) the interactions with the owner are often offensive and exhausting that there is no need to continue to endure that.

    Animal Den
We chose the Animal Den to take our dog to for her first grooming experience based on very good reviews from people in our neighborhood.  We were looking for a simple trim around her feet, face, and behind since she is still a young dog and does not have a lot of excess fur in general.  I really appreciated the brief consultation we had with the groomer when we dropped off our dog so that the groomer understood exactly what we were looking for and make us comfortable.  We were told the price would be $93 because of a few of the upgrades we chose, such as a shedless shampoo treatment for the summer and nail filing versus clipping.  I do think this price is high compared to other grooming salons but we decided to go with it for the first time.  After our consultation, we felt comfortable leaving her with the Animal Den and the staff seemed very friendly.
About 3 hours later, the owner of the Animal Den called me to inform me that our dog was ready to go, but that the groomer had accidentally sliced our dog's tongue while trimming the hair around her face.  He said the groomer felt terrible but that our dog seemed fine and he didn't think there was anything that needed to be done with it.  Based on the conversation, I was nervous but hopeful that it wouldn't be a very bad or long slice.  He said he would be there to talk with us when we came to pick her up, which we did about 5 minutes later.
When we arrived, the person at the front desk said we could go ahead and pay the $93 while they went to bring our dog out, and it was later clear that she was aware of the incident so it made no sense to me why they would ask us to pay before we even saw her.  I asked to see our dog first, and when she was brought out by the groomer, the groomer seemed very nonchalant about the whole thing, saying that our dog didn't seem bothered, there was no need for a vet to look at it, and that she would just have a "scar" for the rest of her life.  Even if she felt awful about what happened, it really did not come across that way.  When we finally got a good look at her tongue, it was actually worse than I thought it would be based on everyone's demeanor at the facility.  It was about a 1/4 inch split on the tip of her tongue that will never grow back together.  When the owner finally appeared, he did not even come directly over to us to face us and instead stood in the background watching as we were concernedly checking her over.  I questioned him as to whether they have a vet on site because I am not informed enough to know if this could cause an infection, and he reiterated that he thought it would be fine and did not require a vet visit.   To me, the professional thing to do would have been to come up to us and apologize profusely to our faces and tell us that we should take her to our vet just to be sure, and that they would pay for any vet charges incurred.  We told them that we would take her to our vet despite their advice, which we did, and luckily we did not incur any charges.  After all of that, I went up to the counter and they still expected that I would pay the full $93.  I shockingly had to ask for a discount, to which the owner offered 50% off, and I accepted.  Looking back on the whole situation and the way it was handled, I don't think I should have paid a dime.
Even though dogs are resilient and the permanent split in her tongue may not affect her on a daily basis, she is our family and I did not want to be responsible for bringing her pain and possibly causing her fear in getting groomed in the future.  It has left an impression on us and it will be very difficult to trust other people to care for her, as if it wasn't already.  I am also extremely disappointed and angry at the way this was handled in person by the Animal Den and will not be returning.  I hope they show a lot more empathy for owners and their pets if this happens to anyone else, no matter how serious the incident is.

    The Pet Spaw LLC
They cut all her hair off. Not shaved, but close to it. All the beautiful, smooth, long hair -gone. She looks like a poodle. Her hair is growing back coarse, and I have read that it will probably never be the same.

Animal Arts Academy of Pet Grooming
The service for the big deal from Animal Arts Academy of Pet Grooming was good. I just used them the one time. They did a good job. I don't know if I will go back. I liked that the coupon was a good price. They did a good job on the dog. I haven't used them enough to recommend them or not. I wouldn't necessarily use them again, I would or would not, I am not strong to it. I would go if I got another coupon to go there again I would go. That was the reason why I went there, it was the coupon.

We have a Mini Golden Doodle. The Animal Den does an excellent job grooming our dog. The staff are very friendly and personable and they take great care of our dog. They do such a good job we have never even thought of going anywhere else. I would recommend the Animal Den to any dog owner looking for a good groomer.

    HICKORY ACRES BOARDING KENNELS
Hickory Acres is a great place for boarding for long or short periods.  They give excellent care to my dog and I can rest assured that she is comfortable and loved while we are gone.  Also, the groomers do a great job - professional, timely and the dogs love the groomers.

    Circle City Pet Care
Every experience I have had with Circle City Petcare has been extraordinary!  A friend of mine told me about them as her dog often stays with them during the day for doggy daycare.  After my first visit, I knew that was the place to take my dog!  Even though my dog is a very energetic rat terrier, Chris and Jose just know that every dog is different and they treat them each according to their needs.
There are many reasons that I prefer this dog care service, but the most important to me is their great flexibility.  My work schedule is not the usual 9 to 5, but they are so gracious to allow me to drop him off or pick him up at times that other dog care places are closed.  Even when I was out of town and my flight was greatly delayed, they had no trouble re-arranging their schedule so that I could pick up my dog late at night!   Occasionally I have a last minute event come up where I need to find a place to take my dog without much notice.  No problem!  They are always accommodating.   I also love the fact that the dogs stay with them on their property, if not in their house.  I know my dog is not scared or lonely and he loves going there.  Also, the house is located near the Monon Trail, so the dogs often get a treat of a walk on the Monon.  Even though they occasionally have a 'full house', there are still much fewer dogs than I see at some of the larger kennels with 50 dogs barking, just adding to my little dog's stress of being away from home.  Lastly, their price is extremely reasonable for the care you receive, much lower than any other dogcare.  And, if a little grooming needs to be done while the dog is there, no problem.  They are great groomers as well!  I cannot tell say how glad I am to have found this excellent care and I recommend it to everyone!

    The Pet Spaw LLC
Cindy was very pleasant and helpful when I called to schedule an appointment. She was able to get me in within the same week that I called. When I dropped off my dog, she took the time to totally understand what services I was wanting and the style I was wanting for my dogs cut. She also took extra time to greet Murphy and to let him warm up to her before I left him. When I returned to pick him up, he looked awesome! Check out was quick and easy. I would totally recommend The Pet Spaw!

    HICKORY ACRES BOARDING KENNELS
We have used Hickory Acres for boarding our dog since 1999.  They always treated our dog with lots of love and care.  As our dog aged, they took the time to provide the special attention and patience that older dogs require.  I would never consider going anywhere else.

    PLATINUM PAWS
They trim her and bathe her to her breed standards. That is what I like about them. They are knowledgeable about what works for each diff dog type. Yes...it is tough to get in...don't read what that person wrote and gave them an F. I am guessing that person is living an unhappy life and likes to take it out on normal people. IF you book your appts in advance once you are a steady customer, you have no troubles. That has what I have done for the past 6 yrs...doesn't take a genius to figure that out. :) Oh and the food and treats they sell are incredible as well. They are very good at providing different diets if you are in the market for that. You can find them on facebook and they have cute Christmas Cards....the world is better because of these guys.
