We had some rotted siding and a storm door that had to be replaced followed by painting of the exterior of the house. The repair of the siding went fine. The storm door was replaced with a Larson door but they installed the old worn out door hardware onto the new door. They assumed I would want the old hardware on a new door. Why would anyone want old hardware on a brand new door? I had to tell them to put the new hardware on which they did. The plastic cover on top of the door covering the hydraulic door closed was also cracked. I have brought this to their attention and not replaced yet. We have hired many painters in the past. Very displeased with the conduct of this bunch. To start they knocked loose two of the deck balusters off the back deck. They left it. I repaired it. These painters was by far the sloppiest. I am still discovering new areas on my house where they left paint smudges and blobs of paint. They left paint on the brick, deck, plants, and gutter downspouts. I pressure washed these areas and removed the paint myself. I specifically asked that the crew take care around the landscaping and plants in front of the house. There was a lot of broken branches around the tree and also the rhododendrons. I came home after work and observed the paint crew was washing off all their equipment in the middle of my lawn. Now there is a nice brown dead spot to remind me. The contract I signed said one color of paint on the house. The paint crew used two. A separate color for trim. Their mistake not mine. They came back and said I owed an additional $700 after the fact. I paid it and am moving on.

I went round and round with these people. They canceled multiple appointments for SEVEN months. They said Mark would come then Brian would come, etc. But I had to phone them to find out that my plans for the day were not happening. Neither Nita or David ever bothered to call and let me know on these occasions that my appointment would not be honored. Three of the times I had a scheduled appointment they had an 'Emergency '. I went to their rinkydink office and surveyed the chaos. Brian owns it and completely fails at running it. I heard from multiple sources in and in contract with the company how it is failing since the other owner, Sean, had left months ago. Why such a large national chain would contract with them for installations just blows my mind. The man who FINALLY came to do the replacement door, Mike, was knowledgable courteous and thorough. This after many many phone calls from me, my salesperson and the store manager had simply asked for them to do what they had contracted to do. Unbelievable how one hires someone and then has to ride them to do their job. I will save my time , trust and money next time.

The crew arrived on time and were very professional. The prep-work and the painting went really well. The stain work on the shutters and the front door made the house look like it did the day we moved in ten years ago. I was very pleased with the work that was done and would recommend them to others.

    The HomeWright, LLC
This is the second project we have done with Matt and we will use him again! Matt is very responsive and worked with us from start to finish. He worked with us to make sure the end product was exactly what we were looking for. His people are great - from the tiler to the painter to the decorator. He knows our style well enough that when we texted him various ideas from different parts of the world, he would find what worked - including barn doors from Wyoming. Since the bathroom had to be gutted, he scheduled so that the demo was done when we were gone. He always stayed on schedule and we knew exactly were everything stood - no surprises. We would (and do!) recommend Matt to everyone!

Outstanding and one of the best contractors that I have worked with in 30 years of owning a home. Lorne and his brother communicated what they would do and how long it would take, very little disruption and they stayed on the job until complete, they don't use subs. I would recommend them for about anything. We used them again for a minor flood in the basement, very prompt and resonable on the price.

    The Glass Guru (North)
Before I had The Glass Guru do the work, I looked up some of their references and also check out the company that actually made the doors. Both had superior reviews. From the estimate on the cost , to the actual installment; l could not have been more pleased. Definitely a well origanized company.

    Renewal by Andersen of Indiana
Installation went very smoothly. They did a professional job all the way around. They cleaned up when they were done, took away the old window, and installed all new trim and window seat for the bay window. Pricey, but they do good work.

    Short's Painting Inc
Short's did a great job of prepping the house (power washing) and caulking cracks. They were careful to make sure that the weather would cooperate with the painting. The team worked over a couple days and the house looked like a new house after they were done. I would use them again.

Kathy was very helpful with design and communication was good. Her subs were great, especially her tiler. We did run into a couple of challenges in the master bath. One they handled satisfactorily and one we had to accept as there were no other options without spending more money. The painter was great until the end. We still have some painting that didn't get finished (even though paid in full for the work). Painter does a fabulous job when he's focused on the specific area; however, because we had so many areas to cover, I feel like he lost track of what needed completed. He was extremely tidy in all his work. Overall, they did a nice job with the hiccups faced in an older home. I just wish they would have finished the painting in a timely manner (It's been over a month since they were last here).

    Fentress Builders Inc
We initially used an architect, whom we also found on Angie's List, to help draw plans and maximize space usage (Wayne Olander from Arteffects, Inc). Wayne directed us to 3 different contractors whom we interviewed. Of these 3, Fentress was the most attractive because of the size of their company, their cost estimate, ideas, and great prior reviews on Angie's List. Wayne had also directly worked with them before and had a high opinion of them. Bob Brewer was our initial contact at Fentress. He was involved in our initial discussions and saw us through the final estimate of the project, as well as handling any change orders. Bob was calm and likable. He listened to our ideas and offered input when asked. He was very thorough and professional. We had a detailed preliminary estimate within a couple of days. After a couple of revisions we had our final estimate just a short time later. Bob was patient with us and was a great communicator. Mike Strong was our Project Manager and we met him pretty early on in the process. We liked him immediately. He was quick to listen and to honor our wishes. We wanted a clean worksite when workers left as we live in a small, tight knit community. We also wanted to limit early/late hours to try to be respectful of neighbors as much as possible during our build. Mike made sure this happened. We were so appreciative. Mike helped coordinate all of the subcontractors that came in at various stages. We had painters, electrical, plumbers, drywall, cement, flooring, etc... Since we were living in our house during the build, Mike and the workers were very good about communicating entering the house, who was coming when, etc... Mike mainly managed all the logistics of the project but he did build a large custom TV cabinet with shelves. It was gorgeous and well thought out. He had some very creative ideas that gave our project originality while keeping the integrity of the design of this old house. We were very worried about tearing down walls and adding on given the age of the house. Mike was unfazed and handled any issue that came up with calmness and professionalism, keeping us well informed along the way Curtis was the master craftsman of our project. He was at our house most every day working on one project or another. We grew to respect Curtis' eye for detail. He is a gifted carpenter and provided many unique touches at every stage of the project. He is the type of worker that will do the job right and does not look to cut corners. Every change or idea we threw at him he took it in stride and was able to do most of the build of this project to our utter satisfaction. He was able to keep an 'eye' on the subcontractor's work and was very valuable to have on site every day. We have done 4-5 remodels and larger projects at various other home locations throughout the last 20 years and Fentress has been the best and our favorite contractor with which we have worked. We knew as with any project that there would be hiccups and frustrations along the way (just a part of any project). When we discussed this with Mike at the beginning we had acknowledged this and just asked for good communication along the way. He let us know if there would be delays. He gave us projected weekly updates. We started out thinking this would take 3 months and it ended up going 5, much because of changes and additions we asked for along the way. All was taken in stride and they were committed to giving us the result we wanted. The services they provided were all encompassing. They helped us to obtain our building permit, they did concrete foundation work, framing, window relocation, plumbing, electrical, hardwood floor installation and staining, carpet installation, tile work, deck construction, custom finished carpentry work, Heating/AC assessment and HVAC work, insulation evaluation and placement, skylight installation, replaced roof and hauling of debris. I could not be more pleased with Fentress and particularly Mike, Bob and Curtis. We have retained their services for Part 2 of our project this spring 2017 involving reconstructing our barn/garage, pouring concrete driveway, re-roofing barn and gravel placement. We are about one month into this project and the service continues to be as it was. As far as a General Contracting company I have not found one better than Fentress. Thanks so much.
