    TLC Plumbing Inc
I am not an easy customer.  I changed my mind on the flooring.  I couldn't decide on a paint.  It took me forever to select a vanity.  And I bought a particularly difficult light fixture.
Last year I had the downstairs bathroom done, and had a horrible experience.  So I was a bit of a nag going into this.  The guys at
TLC stuck with me through the whole project and were nothing but kind and professional.
This company will give you an honest estimate.  But in my case, since I changed my mind and because the house is old, the price was over the estimate.  Nobody's fault.  I knew it would be expensive.
And you get what you pay for.  The room is beautiful and a pleasure to use.  I couldn't be happier.

Upon arriving @ Shilling (both days) not one person would look up let alone help us.  Even upon inquiring about service and information about products unfortunately we were ignored.  Contacted the company to express concern and was informed that we would receive a phone call.  No call was returned.

Because this is a successful small company, attention to detail and overall service are outstanding.  There's a passion here that is often missing when dealing with companies of any size whose primary focus is on the almighty dollar.  My bathroom is beautiful.  I've received many compliments.

Project scope was extensive and work affected every system of my 80+ year old home.  Each of these factors presented unique and somewhat formidable challenges.  The attentiveness and partnership of the project manager made things go relatively smoothly overall -- I never felt like I was out of the loop of communication nor left to fend for myself.  And of the many issues that arose, each was resolved to my satisfaction or I was provided with a satisfactory reason why it couldn't be fixed as planned or first envisioned.

A few subcontractors -- flooring, plumber, and drywall mudders, in particular -- disappointed with unacceptable work and/or a lack of communication and professionalism.  Correcting their errors and/or issues created by their carelessness required scheduling return visits which delayed progress.  The plumber's haste on many occasions resulted in problems that mounted as the work proceeded.  Fixing what wasn't acceptable required hiring another completely different plumber who got it right the first time.  The flooring contractor was called back so many times I lost count.  The problem was in the poor quality finish coat on both new and restored hard maple flooring.  After he finally fixed what was wrong he admitted he had been using a sub par coating material and an incorrect technique to apply it.  He should have figured this out long before the series of delays began to happen. The company has been in business for decades so newness to the industry is not an excuse.

Fixing these problems played a role in delaying completion of the project which went well beyond the planned completion date.   A few changes in plans delayed progress as well.  The majority of the changes were caused by adding to the scope of the contract -- things that weren't anticipated at first but if not addressed would have been a reason for regret later on, after the project was completed.  The remainder of the delays were primarily due to the lack of adequate manpower   There simply weren't enough people working on the job to get it in on time.  I wasn't too concerned, however, because of good communication by the manager and foreman and because their individual efforts consistently exceeded expectations.  I was fortunate to have a foreman who was assigned almost exclusively to this project.  He worked with me as a professional partner and helped me make crucial decisions quite handily given his experience and passion for his work.
