Very well- I feel that ADT is a great company. On the other hand, I've been burned before thinking I was hiring ADT and it was an outside company (i.e. "Protect Your Home"). Don't be fooled! This contract company was horrible. They advertise frequently in mailers/papers. Make certain you are really dealing with ADT.

It went very well. Theo was extremely professional. We had an error signal on the alarm screen a couple of days after installation. When notified Theo came back to our home right away and fixed the problem.

The cost was reasonable and Theo was fantastic. I would highly recommend Protecht

We lived in our house 5 years and once we started having children decided to install a security system.  Conzer beat the competition and got the job because there a local company.  Did an Excellent job and we sleep better knowing we have a security system that is spot on.

I used Sentinel Alarm for just over 3 years (their standard lease contract), signing the initial contract on 2/26/12. The reason I acquired the alarm system is due to extensive work travel.  During those 3 years, I paid nearly $3000 for install, extra hardware, monitoring, service calls, and to replace failed equipment.  Installed equipment is only warranted for 1 year, even though the "lease" is 3 years.

Sentinel received my cancellation request via certified mail on 3/23/15.  You can?t just call, or e-mail.  You must submit a specific form and send it certified via USPS. Any other transaction (billing, install, maintenance appointments) can be done over the phone, but not service cancellation. With the idea of PIN codes in this day and age, requiring certified mail is anachronistic.

Upon termination of the contract, I was informed that technicians would stop by to "uninstall" the system. This was not directly represented to me by the salesperson 3 years ago ? I was under the impression at that time that I paid a $199 initial fee for the system, and over time it would become mine.  This was my fault for assuming instead of reading the fine print.  Recovering used alarm equipment is an interesting concept ? does this mean that another customer may then have a "used" system installed in their house?  Once it?s cleaned up, you?d never know, really?right?

As noted in previous comments, the existing lease contract auto-renews on your 3 year anniversary date for another 3 years.  You have to provide 30 days? notice PRIOR to your lease contract end-date.  And beware, your monitoring service contract may have a different date than your system lease contract date ? which is also on the same terms, and they dates may not coincide.  That ends up being another ?gotcha.?

Although I missed the proper cancellation and notification window, Sentinel was gracious enough to allow me to end my renewed contract.  This is the only reason that I scored them relatively neutral instead of a 1 or an ?F?.  Sentinel asked me to schedule a time for a technician to uninstall my system.  I had to make a four-hour availability window in my schedule on 3/27.  I waited around.  No one showed up.  No phone call. Do you think I could bill them for my hourly rate of sitting at home?  Nope.  Read on?

So, I was billed another full months payment on April 1, 2015.  When I called, I referenced the 3 year contract end date as of 2/26/15 (on the lease agreement).  They stuck by their contract, and said since they received my cancellation on 3/23, the service wouldn?t be terminated until 30 days later (4/23).  When I asked if I would be refunded for the latter part of April, I was pretty much told that I should feel very fortunate that they are letting me out of my 3 year auto-renewal, and that they could hold me to another 3 years if they wanted.  I felt powerless and belittled.  I was asking for some fairness, and being slammed with a heavy hammer. Wow, 3 more years at my current monthly rate was about $2000.  Thank you, ma?am, may I have another?

Of course, during my call Sentinel also reminded me they wanted their equipment back.  When I asked why the techs did not show up or call on 3/27, I was met first with silence, then with ?when is the next good time for you, sir??  I told them 4/22, first thing in the morning.  I received no apology for 3/27, and no recognition of wasting my time.

On 4/22/15, the tech first called me, then showed up to uninstall the system at about 8:25am.  Fortunately, I had already removed it, boxed it up, and included Sentinel?s own checklist of what was originally installed in the box with the equipment. As I signed the paperwork affirming the pickup, I witnessed a hand-written note on the work order: ?If he isn?t there, will bill for equipment.?  Nice touch, Sentinel.  You guys missed the first pickup appointment, didn?t call, didn?t apologize, and because I held you to a tighter schedule (my schedule) the second time, you were prepared to cut me zero slack and just ?bill me?, which is apparently your standard MO. When in doubt, error on the side of Sentinel getting more money.

There are other local alarm providers on Angie?s list who are significantly cheaper.  They contract with a 3rd party monitoring center just like Sentinel does.  The equipment costs about $350 for a basic 2GIG system with a panel, 3 doors, motion, key fob, and AT&T GSM.  It?s no secret - Google it.  Anyone can Google ?monitoring centers? that support DIY installs, and if they are savvy enough to use Google and YouTube, they can set up their own system.

Moral of the story:  Caveat Emptor. Read the fine print.  In my personal experience, this company is very customer-service focused when selling and installing (like all their Facebook feedback), but when you try to leave, they would rather have you swallow a bitter pill, get every last dime out of you by leveraging contract language, and write petty comments on work orders rather than allow customers to feel good about their experience.

This is for Sentinel:   If you want better feedback, then keep your 3-year initial contract to protect your initial investment.  Make it blatantly clear ? don?t make customers be surprised about the fine print later.  Offer regular free firmware updates, and run specials on new functionality (maybe even give them for free!).  As the initial 3 year contract date approaches, send the customer a notice 45 days in advance. Provide attractive offers for signing up for another 1,2, or 3 years.  Maybe tell them clearly that if they sign up for another 1 year term they could keep the equipment, or offer to provide one free service call per year upon renewal.  Automatically transition to a month-to-month contract with a 30 day notice allowed at any time. Proactively communicate with your customers ? give them a value-add or other reasons to stay.  If they don?t stay, grin and bear it.  It?s fine to bill a cancelled customer through the end of the 30 day notice, but be prepared to pro-rate and not just keep the money.  Don?t make customers feel ?lucky? that you decided not to slam them with more charges ? it?s heavy-handed, it?s not professional, and it?s belittling to your departing customer.  Be as timely on uninstalls as you are on installs, and offer departing customers the same courtesy as a new customer. Thank me for being a loyal customer for 3 years, and make me feel like I was appreciated. Developing goodwill goes a long way, and with this departure experience, you did not do that for me at all.  You made me feel like I avoided a prison sentence.

Every person I talk to that has an alarm, or is thinking of one now gets to hear this same story.  There is no telling how much future business you polluted by being so hard-nosed and indifferent.

Josh installed a video surveillance system that two other companies declined to attempt.  He and his installer, another Josh, arrived at the scheduled time.  Josh is a very friendly guy who really wants to make the customer happy.  The installation went very well and he insured it worked and I understood how to use it before he left.  They cleaned up after they finished and completed the job sooner than expected.  If you're looking for someone to install a video surveillance system Indiana alarm is the business you should hire.  Be up front, tell them what you want, and you will be pleased you hired these guys for the job. Thank you Josh.

I really haven't had any contact with them since they put the system in. It works. They call when I open a door without disarming the system, so they're obviously monitoring it. That's really all there is to say.

Ordered a package directly from the SimpliSafe website and later found a better deal via Angie's List.  SimpliSafe provided a 100% money back guarantee and even paid for return shipping.  Phone operator was very friendly and didn't make any hard sale attempts or try to dissuade me from returning.  Was simply friendly and helpful.
Reordering similar package at a better price directly through Angie's List as SimpliSafe provides a similar service to other security companies but is priced a bit better, has no long-term contracts and lets you cancel or return with zero hassles.

I have used their security service for the past three years. I had one false alarm which they took care of it promptly. I like being able to talk with them on the phone. I have not had any problems with their service.

It went very well ... the self-service installation was simple and the system works as designed.  Occasionally, the responsiveness on the keypad hesitates a second or so but it works just fine; just a minor annoyance.  Be conscious of the monthly monitoring fees - they advertise the $15 per month but if you want to use the smartphone app it goes up to $25, which is still very reasonable and cheaper than most other 24x7 monitoring services.  I would recommend this company and solution to anyone.

I cannot say enough nice things about Chris at Secured Home Solutions.  Chris was extremely helpful in evaluating our house and security needs, while at the same time never seeming pushy.  Absolutely no upsell!  You can tell he is genuinely concerned about helping people feel secure in their own homes.
Chris came out for an initial consultation, and because of issues with my schedule, he returned a few days later for the install.  In fact, when I asked if we could do the install earlier in the day because of a sudden change in my schedule he was extremely accomodating.  All along, his communication was top notch.  Chris is very responsive, and goes out of his way to provide exceptional customer service.
On the day of the install, Chris and 2 other men from his ADT team completed the install in about an hour, with no issues whatsoever.  Chris then stayed and took his time explaining the system to my wife and me.  He set up our portals on our home computers, and patiently walked us through the ADT Pulse app on our phones, until we were comfortable with everything.
A week later, Chris followed up to make sure we were happy, and had no issues.  He insists that if there are any problems with the system, contact him first, and I will gladly do so, as he is so easy to work with, and so dependable and responsive.
Thank you Chris for helping us with our home security needs!
