Great. The did the work they quoted and it looks great. They don't leave those little tubes sticking out of the wall. They remove them and then seal the the crack for a finished look. It took three trips since we had several and after grinding the surface, a few were showing a little water penetration and could not be injected that first day. Their office always followed up the day after the appointment and set up my next appointment. They also worked around my schedule. I did have to cancel once and it took two weeks to reschedule because they are usually booked a week out, and then I only had certain days that I was available. They only require 10% down, so they don't ask for the rest until the job is completed. I highly recommend them if you can afford to have it done right. They do cost a little more, but I've never seen injected walls look this good when the process was done. Also, their warranty cover water penetration at all injection sites for the life of the structure, regardless of ownership...can't beat that.

The corner of our garage has a crack in the foundation, however there is no structure under the garage floor. I had thought that rain water was seeping up through the crack into the garage. James came out to review my issue and provide a quote to repair. He suggested that the crack was not causing the issue and that there was no need to repair. He felt that replacing the garage door seal at the bottom of the garage door would stop the rain water from entering our garage. Thus James did not charge us anything and had nothing to quote. His suggestion was correct and our issue is now resolved. It was very refreshing to find someone as honest as James. Should we ever really need foundation repair I need to look no further than James! Thanks!

    Great Lakes Waterproofing
We first contacted Great Lakes Waterproofing in August 2008. An estimate was made and we decided to go ahead because they garantied that pumping in Volcay Bentogrout (Bentonite) would waterproof the basement wall from the outside. We discussed with the person that came out the fact that our house is build with ICF blocks; which would not be a problem was garantied; it would work as well. Work was done in September 2008. At first it looked like it did indead solve the problem and we re-drywalled the basement wall. We even recommended this company to several other people. Unfortunately after about 2 years we found mold and moisture in the basement again (same spot). Called the company and they came out to redo the injection procedure without delay. To make a long story short they came out to more times. Last time was in september 2014 and the leaking continued. Called the company in June 2016 explaned the situation and that another soluation needed to be found. I was told there was a waiting period of 4-6 weeks and would get a call as soon as there was an opening. I am still waiting for them to call me back (Oct 2016). Last week we had that wall escavated and repaired from the outside by another company. After dealing with this problem for almost 10 years we were longed for no moisture and mold in the basement and decided to go the expensive route. This company had to replace the drainage tile as well because the bentonite (which is a clay mass) had clogged the drainage tile completely. Spoke with several people working in the basement wall waterproofing industry and the all were very sceptable about this system. 1st. I am very disappointed in this company; especially because the promissed me in June of this year to call us back and set up an appointment to come and look at the problem. 2nd. Be warned about this system; Rated the price as F; just because it did not solve the problem at all. Was waisted money and gave us 8 more years of headaches and anxiety.

Terrible-So this company sucks. They are sexist and misogynistic. They have a policy that says if everyone who "owns the home" cannot be at the free estimate then it no longer free and you have to pay $150!! That's obviously code for "you aren't smart enough to ask the important questions and we don't want to have to come out twice just to explain it to you husband". My husband works and cannot take off for a free estimate when I am not only capable of asking questions but kinda ticked off that they are so sexist that they won't respect a woman's competency to ask the proper questions without her husband there. This is the most ridiculous policy and it's insulting to women. I purchased the home on my own, my name is the only one on the loan but because my husband technically owns the home too, I have to either make him take off work in Chicago or pay $150 because they don't want to have to come out and answer questions that a man has, that a woman is obviously not smart enough to ask. And how about this- the only questions we have would be #1 is there damage? #2 What do you do to fix it? #3 And how much?? See guys- even a stupid woman knows that. I even asked if I could have my husband on face time so that he "could ask all those imaginary questions I was too dumb to ask" but no, (and I quote) "we have tried that in the past and it didn't work out so sorry." So if you are a woman's don't bother calling for a free estimate because your husband has to be there to supervise you and ask the right questions or you have to pay $150.

The workers are efficient and clean up nicely after themselves.  Michelle at the office has been very helpful to our questions and needs.

Concrete Crawlspaces & Basement Waterproofing Corp

The company sent a gentleman named Joey.   He arrived approximately on time, and surveyed the crack in our basement wall.

Then he gave us a quote to fix it.  We were given a quote over the phone, ( and at the time I wondered how that would work out not being able to see it.)  I guess its a ballpark amount.  It did end up costing a few hundred more than the original estimate.

We agreed to the estimate, and he went right to work.  I think it took about 2 to3 hours for him to fix it.  We asked a lot of questions and he was happy to answer them for us.  He was very polite and cleaned up after he was done.  Also while he was there we asked him to give us an estimate for water proofing the whole basement and he did.

We haven't had any seepage since it was fixed. But he told us if we did, that the work he did was warrantied and they would make it right.  We would definitely use this company again.

In a word - excellent!  But you want all the details - so here it goes.
I chose Nova based on the recommendation of a friend and also their excellent record here on Angie's list which is far better than any other companies in this area doing this work.
For the initial appointment I was running late.  Very unusual for me and I was very embarrassed by it - but their rep (one of the owners, I believe) took it right in stride and graciously waited for me to arrive.  He made his inspection and made recommendations based on only what I wanted - to secure the integrity of the foundation.  I wasn't interested in trying to turn it into a living area and he didn't push unnecessary repairs.  In fact, he recommended I get new gutters and downspouts first.  I was impressed with this honesty as Nova doesn't do this work and did not gain anything from it.  He then explained both verbally and in writing exactly what was needed to secure the foundation and gave me a quote for the work.  I asked him for a recommendation for the gutters and got it.
I followed through with the gutters first and was very pleased with the work of the company they recommended.  Then I called them to arrange a date for them to start their work.  They arranged for a plumber to move some of the water lines that would be in the way.  I hadn't remembered them mentioning this to me...but it was included in the estimate they gave me so it was fine.
Throughout this process, the rep, work crew, gutter company, and plumber all had to arrange appointments with one of my tenants for access to the basement.  This tenant has often warned me about sub-par contractors in the past...but they were fine with all of the work done and absolutely LOVED the Nova crew.  Work started on the appointed date and finished when expected.  Due to my work schedule, I was never there during the work and never met the crew, but I am extremely satisfied with the work they did.  The foundation is now better than it was the day the house was built, my tenants remained happy throughout, and I found Nova to be extremely easy and friendly - yet professional to deal with in every phase from my initial call to arrange an inspection to my final call to pay the bill.

The whole front of my tri level is a crawlspace.  I had plastic covering the dirt floor.  I was getting a musty smell in my family room.  Two men came in the morning and worked until 1PM.  They removed the plastic, cleaned the cobwebs, tied up any cable wires on the ground and raked everything smooth.  A hole was dug and any pieces of brick or stone on the floor were buried.  A white liner, somewhat like a swimming pool liner was laid on the floor and then run up all the brick walls.  When they were done, the whole crawlspace was white and clean.  I can now store a few things (probably in a Rubbermaid container) in this space.  No more musty smell!!

Flood Test and Flush system however the technician didn't take any water into the crawl space.  No hose.  Nothing.  How does one do a 'flood test' without water?  How does one 'flush' a system without water?
Clean sump pump liner but again no water, no hose... no vacuum cleaner.  It's a mystery.
Only recommendation was a letter a short time later warning me that the warranty required sump pump to be on dedicated electrical circuit... couldn't be on an extension cord... but the installation (extension cord) was exactly as THEY did it and left it.
UPDATE:  It seems my particular system is not subject to a flood test thus no need for water.  Sump is cleaned with the water in it.  Service is being re-priced since it doesn't involve all the items.

I had estimates from three companies before I went with them.  I chose them because I did a lot of investing on the system they were using on the internet and talked to people that had similar done and the system they were using was more than adequate and they had the best deal for the price.  They were very thorough and kept me informed every step of the way.  They cleaned up their mess.  I would have wished it was less expensive but they were very, very competitive or better priced than their competitors were, so the pricing was good.
