    HomeWorks Construction Inc
I have nothing but good things to say about this company. I am the parent of a Notre Dame student who, along with roommates, was involved in a lawsuit over alleged damages to a large off-campus house NOT affiliated with the school. There were some holes in walls, a few broken door locks, a damaged fence and windows, and a few other very fixable issues. Students were planning to clean, fix what they could and pay for the rest, but thought they had until the end of the school year to do it. Without warning, one month before graduation they were threatened with eviction and sued for tens of thousands of dollars in damages, which, in addition to the actual damages, included two new refrigerators, replacing old ceramic tile floors, new carpeting, light fixtures, wood floor refinishing, cleaning charges, and painting of "entire house." It was clearly a shakedown. Nathan at HomeWorks responded to the students' call within hours and gave them a quick but thorough estimate to repair the damages they were actually responsible for. The estimate from HomeWorks was about one tenth of what the landlord was demanding. The students also asked HomeWorks to do a separate estimate for everything the landlord wanted done, in case it came to that. This number was about one fourth of the landlord's number. Thanks to these more realistic numbers, the judge allowed them to stay in the house but, due to timing issues, permitted the landlord to hire his own contractor. Unfortunately, this meant HomeWorks did not get awarded the job. It was an expensive lesson, with students on the hook for the landlord's legal fees on top of their own. HomeWorks' quick response and reasonable estimates, however, were a huge help in preventing eviction, exposing the landlord's deceptive tactics and forcing a settlement. I am confident HomeWorks would have done a great job at a fair price, had the students been able to hire them. I only wish they had called them sooner.

Very content with the work done. The job took longer than anticipated but was worth it in the end. The handymen were very good at problem solving and doing a professional job, nice people. I'm happy to recommend their work. The office employees were very good and attentive to issues as well. Overall a good experience!

This was their first project using a totally new material and they made sure they had the support they needed to insure the project went well and the installation was done correctly. It was not without a few hiccups along the way, as can be expected, but the way they handled any issues that came up was exemplary! I would have no hesitation calling them in the future for other remodelling needs as well and I highly recommend them. The owner is very honest and hardworking and he has some really great people on his crew who work hard, know what they are doing and are very easy to get along with. From start to finish I was given Class A service. David Sipp provided ideas and design that I'm thrilled with. The construction team were professional, prompt daily, efficient, and extremely considerate while working in my home. They kept me informed of their progress and solicited my input on many issues to ensure my satisfaction. Once completed they provided follow up visits to tweak minor issues until I was 100% satisfied. I have a beautiful bathroom I'm proud of.

    Quality Home Improvement
Quality Home Improvement is a very small company, literally a two person operation. Don't, however underestimate them. They do first class work and their fee was very competitive with the other contractors we had provide estimates. . The project they did for us was a total re-do of our small bathroom that included an alcove stall shower, toilet, alcove vanity with top, flooring and lighting. The project took much longer to complete than expected, mostly due to some snags that were not anticipated and not the fault of them. Some of the measurements made by the materials supplier were not precise which is critical for the tight alcoves involved. Pieces of the shower stall, for example had defects and had to be returned. It took at least 5 sets to allow the installation. In spite of the snags, they used their experience and expertise to use creative and effective solutions to complete the project. Their attention to detail was outstanding. We highly recommend Quality Home Improvement and will hire them again for some additional projects around our house.

They where good, came over took measurements and 15 min later I had an estimate in my inbox. They came in and took about 4 days to do a huge change in my kitchen, new tile, some drywall work and paint. Also very competitive pricing

    INSURED SERVICES
Fabulous. The job went on a little longer than I thought it would because of the perfectionism of Insured Service's carpenter. Even stuff that I wouldn't have cared about HAD to be perfect. The finished result paid off for the delay over the original time estimate though as the bathroom, hallway, front door and new windows are an incredible improvement over what I had in my 1950's house. My home is now a showpiece in our subdivision of similar late-50's vintage ranch houses and my new bathroom is a pleasure to use. I have re-hired Insured Services to re-do my kitchen.

They where great, they started a whole floor project on a Monday and by Thursday they where all done. The process was very simple, they gave sent me an estimate that was very competitive and 3 days later they where already working on it.

    Performance Builders
The service was bad from day one with the delivery of materials. My white casings, trim and frame for the ceiling where scratched due to being placed face down on the concrete floor. Doug (owner) did not communicate to Jimmy (lead worker) to insulate the wall, so they had to remove the dry wall and insulate them. The sink was plumbed in the wrong spot the vanity light and electrical switches had to be relocated (dry wall patched). One of the so called workers (who basically stood around to justify the cost) had to be directed by me on how to repair an existing door that again was not communicated to him by Doug. They used a jack hammer to break up the concrete and did not seal off the adjacent room which covered my basement, TV's, electronics, furniture, collectibles, carpet, walls etc. in dust. I halted the work to call Doug and complain and he just offered to send someone to clean the items, he never stopped by or called afterward. At this point I was furious and I did not want any of his people touching my things. There were also two water lines that they had messed with that started to leak and damaged some dry wall and soaked my carpet in two rooms. They repaired one leak and the second one I had to pay someone else to repair. When I called Doug about the first leak and damage he did not stop by or follow up with me. Needless to say after that, I had to let them go. Now I have to find someone who will finish what they attempted to do and probably find more issues. Two people worked an average 4 1/2 hours a day took long lunches and made excuses as to why they couldn't work longer, like not having the proper tools. They were not equipped with the proper planning, transportation, equipment or skills. I had to come home every day during my lunch time to supervise the work from 9/1/16 through 9/12/16. Doug told us that he always stops by to check on projects at least twice during the process and he only stopped by once at the beginning during this whole ordeal and that is because I asked him to. A sewage pump was installed without a check valve, if I had not checked the work AGAIN, my basement could have flooded. I guess the cost or size of my project was not taken seriously by Doug or his crew. Bottom line, performance builders are a bunch of Jack of all trades and masters of NONE, if that.

Our walk in shower has tile on one wall that is way out of plumb and there is a large gap in the tile in one corner over half the height of the shower. Our bathroom floor gets wet after every shower because they did not slope the threshold inwards - it is actually sloping outwards. I received a $500 credit for the poor workmanship, but I should have asked for more so it would have been reworked.

We had to have a new stainless kitchen sink replaced because one of the tile guys scratched it up cleaning his tools in it. Jay paid for that, but one would think an experienced professional would know better, especially when we told them there was a utility sink in our basement they could use. We were really sold by Jay on the fact that he has very experienced, long term employees, but I do not now believe that is the case.

Both ceilings in the bathrooms had drywall repair that was needed and even after complaining more than once of the repair quality, there are still very visible issues on both ceilings. I had to argue with them about several things throughout the project to get what we wanted and we still were not satisfied overall. We paid top price and expected top quality. We received average quality overall due to poor workmanship on the walk in shower and poor drywall repair on both ceilings. Get everything in writing if you go with this company.
