    Freedom Home Services, Inc.
I simply called to ask what services he could do for us and he laughed saying hes a one man team and it would take him 12 yrs to build a home. I found this to be sarcastic and unprofessional. I hung up and he proceeded to call back and yell at me.

    Home Experts
We are extremely pleased with the workmanship provided.  But what we admired the most was the quality of the people doing the work.  Just talking with them you could readily tell they were people of high moral character.  We could easily discern that they treated the work like they were doing it for their own home.  They were prompt.  They kept the worksite as clean as possible.  (Tile work is by nature extremely dusty.)  And when the project was done, they left the garage where they had "set up shop" impeccably clean.  Not a question in my mind, I will use them again in future projects.

    Home Experts
Ken Bennett was my contact at Home Experts and he agreed to come out and do an estimate for the repairs I needed.  I feel like I explained it very well.  I showed him the trim around my door, which needed to be replaced and painted.  I told him I wanted to have the front door painted.  I showed him the piece of siding that I needed to have reattached to my house after it blew off from a wind storm.  I showed him the spot where it needed to be reattached, way at the top side of my house.
We had a brief, mix up on scheduling the job but it wasn't a big deal.
When a gentleman showed up to fix it, he seemed like he had no idea what he was supposed to do.  I showed him the wood that needed to be replaced around the door, but he had no wood with him.  After he took some measurements, he left to find the nearest place he could purchase wood.  He came back and did the job, but he told me that they couldn't paint the trim or the front door because it was too cold out for the paint.  Fair enough.  He said someone could come out when it warmed up a bit.
I asked about the siding.  He had no idea that siding needed to be hung.  I pointed out the spot where it needed to go and he told me he didn't have a ladder with him that could reach that high.  He offered to go get one.  I agreed that would helpful.  I had to go run some errands and he told me that was fine and that he would return (with ladder) and finish the job while I was gone.  I asked for a final price and asked how to pay him.  He had no idea.  Said I'd have to call Ken.
He leaves.  I call Ken and Ken apologizes, but offers no reason why things are not going very smoothly.  He tells me that for the work they had done, I would owe him $341.00 but according to the itemized estimate he originally gave me, the cost for the door and the siding (minus the painting) would come to $386.00.  I tell him this.  He says "Yes, $386.00 is fine."
I come back from my errands and yes, the siding is hung and looks fine.  I cut Ken a check.  The end.
No one ever gets back to me about following up on painting the wood or the door.
I finally painted the trim, but a couple of days ago (April 21, 2015) I realized that I had some additional trim around the windows that needed fixed, so I thought I would call Ken again and give them another chance.  I called that day and left a message on Ken's voicemail describing the new job and adding in that I would like them to paint the door.
Here we are, two days later and nothing.  No returned call.  Nothing.  So I log in to Angie's List to find someone else and the site is asking me to review the work I had done by Home Experts.  So I am.  I probably wouldn't have even bothered if they had at least returned my latest call, but nothing, so this is my response.
Did they do the work?  Yes.  Did they ever follow up on the other work I had requested?  No.  Did they return or acknowledge my most recent call for additional work?  Nope.

    Just Perfect Painting & Wallcoverings
Jerold and his team were friendly, professional, and did a PERFECT job.  He is a master at the art of wallpaper hanging and painting.  They worked quickly and lowered the price when the job didn't take as long as expected.  I am very pleased.

    MATTINGLY HOME IMPROVEMENTS
I first called Dawn Mattingly in October of 2012 concerning some floor joist repair and she informed me that Pat Mattingly would get in touch with me to come out and give me an estimate.  I waited for a couple of weeks but received no call.  I called again and she made the appointment herself for Pat to come out and give me an estimate.  Pat came out a few days later, he seemed nice and professional and at the time the estimate seemed fair, which was $1,600 to $2,000.  While they were still working on the floor joists I asked them about running a short gas line from my original line to hook up a fireplace in the living room and the charge was $500.  Don, Pat's helper, actually ran the line and I thought he did a good job.  I paid them in full and told them I would need more work done after Christmas.  In April 2013 I emailed Dawn Mattinlgy about repairing the garage ceiling and putting up some fence in my backyard and repairing the flashing around my fireplace.  I said in  my email that the ceiling in my garage seemed to be falling in.  Dawn emailed me back and asked if September would be OK because Pat was five months behind and you have to keep in mind this was April.  I asked a couple of other people to come out to give me estimates and had such a bad experience with them that I decided to wait for Mattingly to be able to do it since I had already dealt with them.  In October of 2013 I emailed again, asking if they could come out and give an estimate on the ceiling in the garage.  I received no response and after two or three weeks went by I emailed again and received an immediate response from Pat saying he could come out right away, that day, but I couldn't be home that day so he came out the following Saturday.  When he came out he looked at my family room ceiling which had suffered water damage and was sagging.  I asked him about repairing the ceiling because I have ceiling heat, wires running through the plaster.  I thought that maybe we could put jacks up and push the ceiling back up.  He was suppose to provide an estimate but he said he thought the whole ceiling would need to be taken down and of course I didn't want that.  He did give an estimate on repairing the ceiling in the garage which was $500.  They came out about October 23, 2013 and repaired the ceiling.  I thought the repair was good and I was happy with it.  The new plastering did not match the old plastering but I understand that is hard to do.  I had to leave for a couple of weeks due to a family illness but I later emailed Pat Mattingly on November 7, 2013 asking him if he did electrical work becasue I still had some electrical problems and again, like in October, there was no response.  I have waited to post concerning these jobs because I thought I had more work that needed to be done and was going to post all at once.  I thought when you could get them to respond that the work was fair, especially when you compare it to many of the other people I have had come out but I'm sure you can tell by reading this that there was a problem somewhere along the line.  I would not call them again.  Having to repeatedly call them is too exhausting.

    THAT GUY PROJECTS
I called Tracy to get quote to replace both doors. I worked out price with him and he got to it right away actually the same day. They took out old doors and installed new ones. As we talked, he told me he did painting as well, so we ask him to measure and give us quote. He did verbally but never sent nothing by email as he stated he would. After I paid and he left the job, I looked at their work and noticed they didn't put door handle on square and damaged floor. I called him back and he came out the next day to fix door handle and he said once we pick out flooring he would replace it free of labor but never said he would pay for flooring. I gave him benefit of doubt and was going to see about painting but now he won't return calls or emails or texts. I finally got some one to paint and I had them to take off door casing around door to replace it since there were a bunch of nail holes from original install and Tracy taking it off to replace doors and guess what he didn't even insulate around the door.
I guess you get what you paid for.
Be AWARE because his work is very poor.

    Handiworks Unlimited Inc
I began trying to contact Handiworks in April.  I had rail fence that needed to be installed and a garage ceiling that needed to be repaired.  I contacted them and was told someone would call me in a few days concerning an estimate on the fence.  Several days later I received a call from Jeremy who said he was sorry it had taken so long to get back to me but that his mother was ill.  In the message he left on my cell phone, he sounded very nice and I returned his call and left a message asking him to call me back.  He did not return my phone call so I called again and spoke with Laura and told her what I needed to have done and she set up an appointment for May 1, 2013.  Jason came out and took pictures of the garage ceiling and looked at the fence I needed to have installed.  He was punctual and on time.  He said he would get the estimate out to me in a couple of days.  I texted Laura our email address and she texted back saying "Thanks" and they would get the estimate out to us soon.  This was on May 2, 2013.  I waited until May 14, 2013 and I texted Laura again saying I had not received the estimate and would appreciate it if they would send me one.  She did not respond to the text message, call, or email.  Where at first when I would text Laura, she would respond immediately.  I have to assume they simply were not interested in the job and were not professional enough to email a response.  As of June 5, 2013 they have not contacted me.  This was my experience when contacting Handiworks.  I would not recommend them.

I was impressed with Tracy from the beginning. He was timely in coming out to give me an estimate. His estimate was reasonable. His work was professional. He and his worker were considerate and did quality work. I will definitely consider using him again for any future projects I have at my house!

    MATTINGLY HOME IMPROVEMENTS
Pat, whom we found on Angie's List a few years ago, and his righthand man, Don, have done work for us on several occasions, from installing a door and new trim to adding needed support to a sinking roof, and each time Mattingly Home Improvements has come through with an A+ job and result. They are versatile and quality craftsmen who take pride in what they do. Installing 14 new windows and repairing the fascia board was the biggest and most costly job they've done for us, and they impressed  us even more than we had expected. They are punctual, polite, professional, and above all conscientious. Like their customers, they have high standards. And I'm delighted to say that, in terms of qulaity, they have always met and regularly exceeded our hopes. We will hire them again and again ...

I bought the gift certificate for my daughter for her birthday.  She thought he did a great job and completed her projects perfectly.  We were very happy with all that was done and would certainly hire him again.
