    Thomas J Pearson Inc
Tom and his crew completed a four-month-long project for us this spring & summer to add 430 sq. ft of interior space to our house by extending a dining room and converting a screened-in porch to an interior sunroom.  Detail work included built-in bookshelves and a window seat.  Tom provided an itemized estimate that listed each task in detail and made it pretty easy to be sure we were on the same page for scope of work to be performed.  We compared his estimate to several others; his was second-lowest and we chose Tom because we felt his style and personality was the best match for us.  They started on time in April and stayed mostly on track with the schedule that Tom had developed.  They got a little behind when it came to the flooring, and the final punch list items dragged out a couple weeks longer than we would have liked.  There were a couple fairly major unexpected issues that came up - any project this big is likely to have one or two - but Tom was very responsive and made sure they got addressed to our satisfaction.  Communication with Tom was always very easy, somewhat less so with his on-site foreman, but we always felt like Tom was available and listening and working with us - keeping us informed, answering our questions, and being flexible for minor tweaks as the project progressed.  Quality of work was excellent - we are simply thrilled with the final result!  A primary objective was to make the addition look like it was an original part of the house, and they succeeded - the brickwork and roofing blend seamlessly on the exterior, and the new wood flooring matches refinished existing wood in the dining room and kitchen.  The built-ins look fantastic!  Tom went above & beyond to minimize dust & disruption inside the house, and to make sure our house was secure during the construction.  Tom is not one to nickel & dime his clients - we made some upgrades that were added via official option, but he absorbed several other tweaks as part of the job.  Overall we are very happy with the work that Tom and his crew performed.

    JD Hostetter & Associates
I typically do all of my own home repairs mainly because I am very particular.  The one or two things I have contracted out have not been done to my satisfaction, so I just do as much as I can myself.  I needed the exterior of my home painted, but just didn't have the time due to work.  I had 4 Angie's List contractors meet with me and give me quotes.  I decided to chose JD Hostetter.  I am here to say they were not only extremely professional from giving me the quote to completing the job, but the work they did was absolutely impeccable.  David and his painting crew did an amazing job.  They prepped, caulked and painted my trim, doors, eves, gutters, downspouts and soffits in 2 days and did a great job.  I would highly recommend JD Hostetter and they have me as a customer for life.

The owner was exceptional, however, he had some employee issues he had to deal with.  He dealt with just fine, but, that is the reason he got a "b" instead of a "a" on professionalism.

    Handyman Connection of Carmel
I requested that the gutters be cleaned at my mother's home which is primarily one story with one upper dormer gutter.  I said that I wanted the contractor to come out prepared to do the job no matter what the estimate was since we don't have time to make it a 2 step process (estimate then later appt to do the work).  The contractor came out on time for the estimate which was $370 with $50 off for Angie's List, so $320.  He said he didn't have ladders or anything to do the job and would not do it that day and he also didn't have a screen roller tool to put the screen back in place.  He said he couldn't carry every tool with him because he couldn't fit it in the car.
He couldn't schedule the job until Sept. 8th since they are so busy.
When I cancelled the scheduled repair, I was a little surprised that they didn't want to know why.
I found someone else to do the job locally for less than 1/2 the price, so I'm glad I didn't have them do it that day.  I would've paid too much.

    Mr Grout & Tile
The ceramic tile grout lines in our kitchen, master bath, and guest bath were difficult to clean, plus the grout color seemed to be too light when compared to the tile.  Previously used all kinds of methods to clean and reseal the grout over the past few years but was still dissatisfied with the results.
Thanks to Angie's List, came across Mr. Grout & Tile, one of whose services is changing grout color.  Scheduled an appointment for an estimate.  At that time, received a cost estimate, scheduled the date to do the actual work, and picked a new grout color using Tony's guidance and experience.
On the work date, he showed up right on time even though the weather turned bad and traffic was delaying travel.  The tile and grout was thoroughly cleaned, the grout recolored, and the floors buffed.  Tony took care to clean up during each step of the process.
The tile looks so much better because with the grout now more closely matching the tile, you now see the floor in total rather than seeing every individual tile when the grout was lighter.  The properties in the grout colorant are supposed to make it easier to clean in the future.  Very pleased!

    Zo Construction and Handyman
Purchased the big deal to inspect my roof and caulk any do minor repairs.  Jeff came out quickly and inspected my roof.  He said the roof was in good shape, but the flashing around the chimney needed to be redone.  We agreed on a price to repair the roof and patch the ceiling where it had been leaking.  The job went well.  The roof no longer leaks down the fireplace and we have had several storms.  I was a little disappointed in the ceiling patch, but may have expected too much.  The water stains bled through the patch after it dried.  Jeff did come back as he agreed to do and repainted the area.  Unfortunately the paint does not match the rest of the ceiling.  It may be impossible to get a good match.  Overall he did a good job and did what he said he was going to do.  The important thing is that he fixed the roof so that it will not cause further damage.

    Ison General Contracting & Handyman
When I called with the job I needed a quote on I got a very quick response. The screens look great and we're very pleased with them. Shane was easy to work with as far as the time frame to get the job done, and got the job done as promised. He would contacted me when he was on his way and was punctual. He takes great pride in his work and is a professional, and I would use this company again in the future.

    Tony The Toolman
Tony always communicated about what was going in and what needed to be done. He never strayed to tell us that it would cost more or less. The bathroom is beautiful and we are satisfied with the work.

    Hays & Sons
I contacted my insurance company.  Within 10 minutes of completing my claim information, I received a phone call from Hays and sons regarding my claim.  They immediately sent out a contractor to do an emergency patch job on my roof to prevent further damage and leaking.  The representative (Joe Dillon) that came out to my house for the initial inspection had great communication skills as well as professional appearance, attitude, and met me when I was available.  The representative did a great job and provided me with all of the information that I needed to contact him and Hays and Sons.  The office of Hays and sons did a great job sending me the proper documentation, communicating with me throughout the process.  The original project manager (Chad Schmepf, now released from the company) not once meet with me face to face, told me when contractors were coming out to my property, and other numerous issues that I did make Hays and sons aware of.  Hays and sons immediately had a new project manager (Sean Mattingly) take over.  Sean was a really good, professional, representative for the company.  He did an excellent job meeting with me, communicating with me any issues along the way, and ensuring that I was well taken care of  at all times.  Sean ensured that my project was completed in a good timely manner and it was.  The outcome exceeded my expectations.  I have and will continue to recommend Hays and Sons for future projects.

July 8 - Owner Ken Bennett came out to give us an estimate to replace our chimney cover and install laminate flooring in kitchen. I liked him very much. He was very professional, kind, courteous and honest.
July 11 - We received the estimates from Ken. We replied immediatedly hiring him to do both jobs. We received estimates from four other companies before Ken which all quoted the replacement of the chimney cover in stainless steel at 3X the price of Ken's galvanized steel. We are moving and didn't want stainless steel.
July 12 - Ken emailed us stating he will order the chimney cover today. We ordered the flooring and padding from Lowe's.
July 15 - Lowe's called - order is in. I let Ken know.
July 27 - Kevin and his flooring team (4 total) arrived on time and job and it was done in a day. We are very pleased - the floors look amazing! Kevin works hard and did an execptional job! They hauled all the empty boxes away also.
Aug 5: It took longer than the 10 days quoted to have another company fabricate a new chimney cover. However, at appointment time, Kent arrived on time. I offered for him to use our ladder for the 2nd story. He walked to the back yard and carried himself to the front of the house. I was amazed how quickly he climbed up two ladders to the chimney with all his gear like it was nothing! He removed the old chimney cover, came back down to get the new piece and hauled that huge 6' X 3' replacement cover and his gear up 2 ladders like a young boy! He went above and above by not only removing the wood board I had nailed to the first roof tier (so the ladder wouldn't slip) but siliconed the nail holes also. He gathered his tools, put the old cover in his truck to take away and quickly came inside for the next job which was to hang our bathroom vanity light that had fallen. Our wall didn't have enough support to hold the weight of 5 lights. He worked quickly and safely...very kind, knowledgable and professional.
