    Kellye Romejko/Hady Home Painters
Hady Home Painters does excellent work at a fair price - Kellye helped us pick out colors and was professional in every interaction. Good patch work and cleanup was thorough. Would do business with again.

    Devault Construction
Initially these guys showed up but as the job progressed they kept pulling off wanting more money. After cash advances they never showed up to finish the job so if you hire them don't trust they will show if you pay in advance! Workmanship is kinda lousy although they did have one talented guy on the crew.

    Northwoods Construction LLC
Great! Everybody that works for Northwoods are very friendly and helpful. After the job was done they even did a great job at cleaning up. If I ever need that kind of work done again I am for sure going to give them a call.

    Nowicki Construction
I strongly recommend Nowicki Construction to members of Angie?s List near Chesterton, IN. Fred and Matt are top notch, low key, flexible and cost effective.
I recently bought my first brick home. Then, I discovered that many bricks had spalled within the last two years. The local brick yard referred me to a contractor who gave me an estimate for replacing about 100 bricks. But in early October, he stopped responding, and I could not schedule the work. So, I joined Angie?s List and quickly found several good reviews of Nowicki Construction. I contacted Fred, and he came right away to estimate the job.
    Identifying the real problem:
Very quickly, Fred determined that the spalling was just a symptom of an underlying issue with drainage and ground moisture, isolated to an addition built with less robust brick. He pointed out that a sidewalk against the north wall sloped a bit toward the addition, and trapped water against the brick. He observed that, overall, everywhere in the addition that I had a water problem, I had spalling. The problem spots included: an area under a window sill that I had already repaired; under gutters that the previous owner had neglected; and along the soil line.
Fred suggested a different attack, one that required some grunt labor on my part. I broke up the sidewalk and excavated along the perimeter of the addition. Then Fred and Matt pressure-washed the exposed foundation, and applied a moisture barrier. They parge-coated a few courses of badly damaged brick at the soil line where the sidewalk had been. I back-filled with 4 tons of pea gravel. Throughout, Fred and Matt scheduled their work to accommodate mine.
I?m relieved to have solved the underlying problem before Winter weather set in. I was able to add some sweat equity to keep cash costs down. In the Spring, Fred and Matt will schedule to replace the remaining spalled brick. In the end, my total cash cost may be less than my original contractor?s estimate.

JDC Stucco Plastering & E.I.F.S. Systems
I assume all went well and the building looks good. JDC Stucco had completed the work and supplied a SEVEN YEAR WARRANTY on materials from "Westmont Interior Supply House."
We purchased the building less than a year ago (with four years left on the "warranty") and have had bad leaking when it rains which was established to be from the porous stucco which soaks water like a sponge when we tested it. We called JDC Stucco and were told that their warranties don't transfer when a building is sold. From there we called Westmont Interior Supply House in Westmont, IL and they informed us that they absolutely don't issue warranties like that at all. It seems that JDC Stucco passes the buck by including this in their paperwork without the knowledge or sanction of Westmont Interior Supply House.
While their work looks wonderful, their dishonesty and lack of standing behind their work would prevent me from using them in the future.

    Fromm Drywall Inc
Steve was great to work with.  He was a straight shooter and an excellent communicator.  He was able to work with me even though I live 90 miles away from the property.  He came in, tried to understand the job and then his quote was spot on.  He was extremely reasonable in terms of what it cost to perform the work.  He then would call me every few days letting me know the status of where he was at, etc.  Overall, this was a great experience working with Steve.  I would highly recommend him.

    S&B Painting and Remodeling
Job went exactly according to proposal.  S&B Painting was very accommodating, punctual, and thorough.  Some of the wall prep was more extensive than it may have appeared before the work started, but the painters did a thorough job.  Job was completed on time, and seems to be quite well done.

    R L Roofing Service Inc
Shingles on house and garage were not laying flat. They were wavy and some were sticking up. They sent 2 men over and I
found them nailing the shingles down. I don't think that's right. Also, after they were done I noticed that they forgot to put the
flashing on the chimney. Every time I had to call them they were rude and argumentative.
One year after the roof was installed it started to leak in the kitchen. I called again and they sent someone out to look at it.
The man told me what was going on and left. I called and talked to Richard Leslie, the owner to make arrangements for
them to repair it, and he told me that the man that came over didn't know what he was talking about. I was getting real upset
and then he started yelling at me. Finally, he sent his brother over. It was after 4:00 p.m. I was just coming home and this guy
was on my roof with a caulking gun repairing holes. Nobody told me he was coming and it was starting to get dark out.
I asked him what he was doing and how could he see? He started coming down from the ladder and almost fell. He was so
drunk his breath almost knocked me over.
I ended up having to take them to court, but I couldn't afford a lawyer, so needless to say nothing happened. I had to hire
someone else to repair the leak, so another $ 2000.00 was spent.
These people are a bunch of drunks and losers. Depending on the time of year and who they hire is the only way you
would know how things will turn out.

    Von Tobel Lumber & Hardware
Barb was great to work with, and had great design ideas for a limited space. She was very accommodating, flexible and patient with our last minute ideas or changes and worked well with our contractor. She also led us to a great deal on the wood flooring we used. Everything we ordered came in on time and in good condition.
