    Sanchez Roofing and Construction, Inc.
It went very well. They came out and helped me put a claim through to insurance company. They met the insurance appraiser when they came out to access the roof and after the insurance company decided I had a claim Sanchez tore off and gave me a new roof on the house and garage. They were professional, on time, and completed the job in 2 1/2 days. They cleaned up. They went over and beyond and installed 2 new skylights to my house too.

Everything was done professionally and in a timely manner. Bob was concerned that evert hung was to our convenience. Everyone was understanding about our pet and the need for his safety during the work. We highly recommended them.

    Rhema Painting
This is the 3rd time that I have used Rhema painting. Their attention to detail is impeccable. the staff is always on time. What I particularly like is their attention to detail such as covering the furniture, placing numerous drop cloths and going the mile. They sand the walls and repair the surface before painting. I cannot say enough on the quality of workmanship they demonstrate each time they have done a job for me. I will continue to use Rhema painting for as long as I own my house.

    Rick Remaly Painting
Outstanding. Rick and his team did an amazing job. They communicated through out the whole process. Finished on time even with a humidity challenge, not their fault. The baseboards looked amazing, and you couldn't even see where the walls needed repaired.

I needed a handyman.carpenter to repair some interior plywood decking, a threshold and exterior wood trim around a window.  I checked Angie's List and was pleasantly surprised to see that Mr. Van Prooyen was a carpenter/handyman.  Mr. Van Prooyen did a lot of drywall work for me last year and I was quite happy with his work. I contacted him on Friday, March 13 and he agreed to come out on Sunday, March 15 to look at the job.  I hired him on the spot and he agreed to come out Tuesday to perform the work for $250 plus materials.
He came out about 30 minutes early  - which was OK, since he started ripping out the bad exterior lumber immediately.  He had to make an extra trip to the lumber yard to get some additional lumber and a doorbell, and I had to make a trip to the hardware store to get some weather stripping for my front door.
The work was completed within four hours and it looks great.  He used good quality lumber around the exterior window, and I will need to paint it once the weather gets warmer.  The floor looks good.  I'm having new flooring installed on Thursday, March 19, and needed the repair before then.

    Empire Today - Chicago

Not well...blinds were not nearly the quality (though very similar type) but considerably more $ than we had in previous house. Lifetime warranty touted, but ooops, labor costs $75 for them to come out. Thankyouverymuch.

I don't anticipate Empire selling us anything in the future.

Mr. Van Prooyen and the painter he hired did a fantastic job. I signed the contract around April 25th. Mr. Van Prooyen started work around May 7th and finished the job in 4 work days. After taping, mudding, and painting, the basement looked great and like brand new - I was amazed that both the horizontal and vertical seams were not visible at all.
Also, the painter, Tom Mangold, saw that a ceiling tile and a wall divider on the first floor needed to be touched up. He just went ahead and did the work and did not charge me for it. He also painted the entire stairway, including the ceiling, up to the first floor, not just the affected area.
Analyzing the cost, the project came to about $9 per square foot, or $55 per man hour, including materials. Both numbers seem a little high, but had the affected area been less than 2', the time, labor, and materials would have been much less. Furthermore it was the best bid I could get - and these two guys were very professional, friendly, diligent, and worth every penny.
The only thing I was not happy with is that the dry wall needed to be cut in the basement. I had some furniture and personal property down there. I had wished that he had advised me to cover these items before he started working. As a result, they were covered with drywall dust.

He was right on time, to start the job.  Very communicative as far as time starts, etc.
Absolutely one of the most personable people I have ever met.  He not only paints and paints well, but is a real pleasure to talk to while he is working. (Yes, he can talk and paint at the same time!!)
It didn't take him long at all, and I asked him to paint the ceiling, too, which he did.  I paid him for the extra work--he is just so easy to work with.  Really one of the nicest, most professional people I have run across in a while!!

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was good but it wasn't perfect. He was a nice guy. He saw my husband take the garbage out and the cans were buried in the snow so he pulled them out for us. He didn't say anything. It was just extra stuff. I had to do a little touch up on the paint. He said to call him if I needed but he lives in Valpo so I didn't want to mess with that. Overall it was a good experience. I paid additional because I had him remove wallpaper which took a couple of days. I had worked on it and he said that if I had left it up there, he could have painted over it but I didn't think I wanted to do that. It was worth it. It wasn't perfect but it was very good. I paid an additional $225. There was a wait time involved in some of the stuff he did and he did not charge me for that. Theoretically it should have been a lot more. He charged $15 an hour. I need to get the exterior painted this summer and I will definitely get a price from him which I did tell him that if I was satisfied, I would consider him for that work. He was well within his rights to charge for the wait time.  He was here 3 days total, and there were a couple of times that he was going to be late but he did tell me and didn't leave me hanging.
