    Dustin Mills Renovations
Dustin provided excellent work at a fair price. He is conscientious and respectful. He was concerned about my satisfaction and worked hard to successfully deliver. My project took additional unanticipated time, materials, and effort. Dustin pulled together the resources needed and worked through the difficulties until completed. Dustin was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him.

Mr. Smalling came out on a Saturday to give me an estimate for chimney removal.  He also offered to coordinate with a roofer on my behalf to patch the rubber roof after the chimney was removed.   None of the other companies I contacted offered to do this.  They just told me I'd have to hire a roofing company to repair the roof as they could not do roof repairs - especially on a rubber roof.  The estimate came in at $1350.00 including the roof repair.  I called Mr. Smalling on Monday to schedule the repair and he scheduled the chimney demolition for the following Friday and the roof repair on Saturday morning.  I arrived home from work on Friday afternoon to find that the entire job was done!  There was no evidence that anyone had even been there except that the chimney was gone.  No stray bricks, brick dust, junk etc.  It was all cleaned up.
Mr. Smalling came out Saturday evening and explained to me exactly what had been done and to make sure I was happy with the work.  And even better - I received a $100 refund check in the mail this week because evidently the job came in under what he had quoted me!  I am very happy with the service, the honesty, and the fact that he made the whole thing so easy for me.  I will definitely call them for any needs I may have in the future.

Eric removed two layers of shingles from our 40 year old roof and replaced them with new 3D Duration shingles. The job started with us needing someone to replace some siding on the chimney due to water leaking in behind the siding causing deterioration and paint peeling off of the siding panels. The repair which we were pursuing was relatively small and consequently we contacted several qualified contractors and they were not willing to even come and scope out our job. Someone referred us to Maximus and when I called and talked to Eric, he was willing to take on the project even though it was small. When he showed up to evaluate the situation and give an estimate for the job, he discovered that the cause of our problem was due to the concrete cap around our chimneys that had cracked and separated and allowed water to seep in and deteriorate the trim boards and siding. We agreed to have him replace the siding and trim boards and to replace the chimney chase because his quote was very reasonable. During this same visit, I was asking him about the condition of the shingles on the roof because they had been in place for 20 years. They were showing signs of wear but he said they could last another year or two. I inquired as to the cost of him roofing the house too while he was doing the other jobs for us and that quote seemed very reasonable so I agreed to that job as well. He has just finished the total project in less than a week and everything looks really good. He maintained the schedule that he promised and he was on site nearly every day to make sure things were running smooth. We will definitely call Maximus again when the need arises.

    Long Brothers Tree Service
It was getting toward the end of the firewood season, and we had almost run out of wood. I called Long's, and they were very responsive. They came out right after a bad snowstorm, with the entire back end of a pick up truck filled with good, split hardwood. Everything was cut in manageable pieces, and has burned very well. They unloaded it where I asked them to, and were very professional. I will use them again this winter.

We were very pleased with the whole experience. The initial contact with the salesman was pleasant and informative. The next step was for the installer to come to our home to take measurements and see what other materials were needed for the installation. We then placed the order and when the insert was delivered to them, the installer brought it out and installed it. The installer was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and informative both times he was out. We previously had a woodburning Buck fireplace insert that we had used for over 25 years. The new Quadra-Fire Voyageur that we purchased is so impressive in the heat that it produces and the efficiency with which it operates.

He was able to get to our house the day after I called looking for an estimate.  He was prompt and courteous.  He appeared very knowledgeable and gave some good recommendations.
Only reason we didn't move forward is that the price was higher than I had expected (didn't know what to expect really) and it wasn't in the immediate budget.  Would strongly look at him for the work in the future though.

Allender & Sons Roofing & Siding
One of the best contractors I have worked with.  James came out to do estimate and went into detail over
everything they would do. Answered any questions I had as did Tina when I called a few days later to accept
their bid. Crew came out with James and got the job done in one day. The owner, Richard also came by midday
and at the end of job to answer any questions and make sure I was happy with the job. Crew cleaned up when
they were done like they had not even been there. James came out next work day to custom fab chimney cap
for me. Pleasure working with these people. Very high quality work. All companies need to operate like them.

Initially I guess he cleaned chimney and fireplace insert. But as he failed to "see" Catalytic converter and did not clean behind it and it was so full had Catalytic blocked off I have my doubts.
I cleaned it out myself but notified him and he told me he had never seen that style insert and didn't know (nor did he ask) if it had a Catalytic. He said  I would get a discount next time I used him.
Then in Dec 2013/Jan 14 during that bad storm, we had a very hot fire get away from us. I called him again.
He had to wait until the snow was off the roof before he could come out.
He looked and said fire had not done any damage to the chimney or pipe.. I personally pulled the insert cover off for him and showed him where seal around firebox and chimney had broken out due to the heat. He said he did not carry the sealant in winter as it froze in his van. He suggested I purchase some myself and fix the broken areas. I also pulled out the Catalytic so he could access the smoke shelf this time and clean it.
He told  me a lot of the creosote came loose from the fire and NOW chimney was clean!! I asked what I paid for the first time and he said that it was not possible to remove it due to possible damage to the chimney pipe and that was standard procedure for Stainless Steel pipe. I agreed with this explanation.
This time he only charged me $100 but left me with a fireplace with leaks at the chimney inside the house. I did not think this was a safe thing to do. But I did not leave house due to wife's health so did not purchase chimney seal. I have sealant but still haven't .fix the leak which is much larger now.
But in spite of my concern and to save money, we used it for a week  but large pieces of creosote (1-2" in diameter) fell all over my deck  and lawn every time fire got hot enough to initiate the Catalytic converter. We stopped using  the fireplace and spent a lot of money on extra heating bills but felt safer.
I did not bother calling Mr. St. Clare to fix leak as he didn't think it a problem so why should I bother.
I apologize that I have taken this long but my wife became very ill during this storm and never recovered, so I was only concerned with her care until now.
My  wife died April 12, 2014 and I am now trying to catch up.
I would like Mr. St Clare to refund  my money (at least the last $100.00) and I will have someone else do the repair and inspect verify that fireplace insertand chimney are in fact safe to use..
I do not trust Mr. St Clare to  properly seal area around insert and chimney, not do I trust his evaluation.of the fireplace and chimney. Note that the I see that the  insert is also missing some firebrick as well as leaking at the chimney, just as he left it.
If Mr. St Clare does not agree, I will just move on s I do not have time nor energy to argue.
    regards
    jack Kessler.

It was alright. It just took a long time to get it done. They probably need to work on their customer service, returning customer phone calls and getting the work scheduled promptly. The field guys did a good job. The field guys were very cordial and easy to work with.
