  • When I arrived for my appointment, I informed the desk attendant we were self-pay (we do not have insurance) and asked her to look into the cost of the ultrasound. I arrived fifteen minutes early to my appointment so I would not stall the provider waiting for this information. Twenty five minutes later (ten minutes after my scheduled appointment time), the desk was still not able to provide me with an estimate of the cost of my services.
    I was taken back to the ultrasound room, ten minutes after the start of my appointment, the tech had not prepared her workstation and spent the next eight minutes getting her paperwork in order and adjusting the machine. She then informed me the ultrasound would be twofold, transabdominal and transvaginal, and I declined the transvaginal. She was very disrespectful of my decision to decline the more invasive ultrasound and argued with me for the next five minutes. I persisted in my declination of the service.
    When the ultrasound finally began, she turned the screen of the machine away from me (so I could not see it) and would not narrate what she was doing. At the end of the ultrasound, ten minutes later, she refused to give me the results or even a summary.
    Fast forward a week and a half when I received a bill for $1,143. I am gobsmacked and presently fighting the bureaucracy to have the rate reduced to the reasonable and customary rate for Indianapolis, $320. Because I am not working through an insurance company, I have been told by their patient accounts representatives they "don't have to" reduce it to the UCR (usual, customary, and reasonable) rate and I have been given a 40% discount as a cash-pay patient which is "all [I] am entitled to."

  • I think they were very responsive, professional and very attentive to our needs. They explain and communicate well with us in terms of what the procedures they were doing and why and I think they are very thorough. They responded to our needs efficiently and quickly, it's what one would expect if it's an emergency and did what we would expect them to do in terms of care for the patient and communication in terms of what they are doing.

  • The doctor was very honest with me and was very helpful. He calmed my nerves about the situation. Everyone at the hospital was very nice.
