    Hoosier Daddy Woodwork

I am very happy with the work that Brian provided for us. Good craftsmanship, good price. He modified the doors and doorframe so that the doors would never need to be replaced. Carefully done. A+.

    J Christopher Construction
They started work on Oct. 22nd and  finished on Nov. 21st. The first thing they did was install a temporary wall and cover it with a tarp and plastic sheeting to contain the dust.

The work included demo of kitchen cabinets and counter top.  Removal of the wall between the kitchen and living room and install a  structural beam.  Remove existing flooring in the kitchen and laundry room and install porcelain tile. They put in all new plumbing, which included shutoffs, waterlines, trap and drain  and waterline for the new refrigerator and waterline and drain for the dishwasher and a washer box and shutoffs in the laundry room.  Installed new sink and garbage disposal and all the new cabinetry.

The electrical work included 11 LED can lights in the ceiling, under-cabinet lighting, 6 GFI-protected outlets and a USB outlet. They put in all the appliance connections and vented the range hood to the outside.

They patched, prepared and painted the walls in the two rooms.   They did a lot of extra things that came up along the way and always with an upbeat attitude.

The guys showed up on time every day, worked hard 7 days a  week, and was always totally professional.  We are planning to have them back in the spring to do our two bathrooms.

It was truly a pleasure having them work in our home.

    Coffey's Home Improvement
Mr Coffee and his partner came each day and worked all day. They wanted no advance but had a draw each week. Their job was completed to our satisfaction. Kurt Erickson of River City had a flooring crew here at 8:30 AM and they were professional in every aspect. Here and gone and exceptionally neat. Then he sent a carpet crew for three bedrooms and that crew was equally professional. NOW ...we needed a plumber to install vessels in the bath..being new in the area I called Stemler Plumbing and they were busy, The second company I called was also busy but said to try Wolfe Plumbing in New Albany. They sent two men out who ran a copper water line for an icemaker 12 feet to a new refridgerator (which had not yet come)...but they didn't put a connection on it..Then they enstalled the vessel bowls and put in a shower drain. Cost $760.00. and I will never use them again. I had Greenwell Plumbing out later to complete the refridgerator and re-do the vessel hookups. Mark Smith of Shockproof Electric ran the electricalchanges and installed all new ceiling fans and new lighting...He was excellent, prompt, and not overpriced.
Lastly, We used BSWB Inc of Sellersburg for the cultured marble for both baths, showers, and jaccuzi..Sam Lomax and his crew sized, measured and installed with perfection...The entire job took 5 weeks and we are well satisfied.

    Hoosier Daddy Woodwork
Brian returned initial call promptly; very polite. Came and inspected the situation and told us that the doors were initially hung with most of the weight on the trim. He suggested a heavier wood + new framing and trim, with the weight of the doors to be distributed on the wood portion, not the trim.
Brian arrived to work exactly when he said he would, and completed the job within a few hours. The result was even better than we had anticipated! How often in life does that happen? His work was meticulously done, even for a simple shed.
The materials cost was $200+, but he did offer a lighter weight/cost alternative.
I cannot tell you how much we appreciate his good service and his courteous demeanor. We had tried to hire other providers who couldn't be bothered with even a return call. Highly recommended. A+++! Thank you, thank you!

    Goodman Home Improvement
Called Mr. Goodman, got his answering machine, he returned my call very next day. One day afterward he was at my house to give me an estimate on the work to be done. His price was reasonable and accepted. Next day he began the work. He worked steadily from morning to evening, taking only lunch breaks. He had the right amount of supplies and did not need to run to the hardware store. The work was done at good speed. There is still work to be done around my home and when the time is right I will call him again. I found Mr. Goodman and his helper to be very considerate.

    Scott Slaughter Home Construction
The contractor was recommended by two individuals but I think that he is more experienced with new construction than remodeling. His price was high in that he included a "developers" fee on top of labor that he did himself, so I felt like I got a little reamed. My house has plaster walls and he tried to treat them as drywall and the drywall job he did was pretty shabby. I had to have another person come in and repair the wall and ceilings where he removed a wall because he couldn't ever get it to look right. When I asked him to fix it he simply said that was the best he could do. He was a nice enough guy, punctual but the job started on March 17 and was not finished until May. His subcontractor for the brick work left a mess in the back yard, tried to dump leftover concrete down a hole in my yard and we had to call him to come back and clean it up. The counter top in the kitchen slopes to the corner and water will stand in the corner behind the canisters if I am not careful. It looks like there is maybe mold growing in the grout because of the slope of the countertop. He removed some tile in the bathroom floor between the door and the hallway and never did come back to repair it even though we called. He installed wood windows in the kitchen and the sliding glass doors that had to be painted. He claimed he told me that I could have gotten prefinished windows and doors but I certainly do not recall that. I had to hire a painter to come and paint those and it was a pain. I had told him I would do the painting but did not expect to have to primer and paint the windows and doors.  He did not treat the new brick that was installed on the back of the house, claiming that it would need to cure for a few months before sealing and has never gotten back to it.

    Goodman Home Improvement
Walter Goodman is one of a dying breed of contractors. He does what he says he's going to do and has a great work ethic. Even in during some of the worst heat/humidity we have seen in many years, Walter showed up every day. Had to force him to take breaks and stay hydrated in the incredible heat. Walter is pretty much a one-man-show. If Walter had to bid other work, he always let us know he'd be late or had to leave early. Walter worked with us on a new wood deck design and rolled with changes, made suggestions for better efficiency and use of materials. Walter is a good collaborator - took our ideas and made suggestions for the best way to proceed. He also repaired our wood fence gates, built a new ramp for our shed and weatherproofed the shed doors. He suggested we install gable vents in the shed to dissipate intense early summer heat, which we gladly had him complete. Walter replaced our gutters and installed gutter guards. He even helped me repair my garden hose! Walter's primary talent is in siding, replacement gutters and gutter guards. He also installs and repairs windows and doors. We will be using him next year to remove/replace vinyl siding as he insulates our 1920 house. Walter is great with our 3 dogs and cat. He helped chase down our basset hound when the dog bolted through the gate. He loves all animals.
