    John Krekovich Construction
John is one of the best contractors I've done business with. He comes equipped with everything needed to get the job done quickly and correctly. He is ultra-organized and has power tools and his own air compressor to use them. He also cleans up after himself before leaving your home which is very important to me. Honestly, I've never had work done by a more prepared serviceperson. A true professional who takes pride in his work!

    Top Shelf Construction
Awful.  Contractor never showed up to inspect or instruct sub-contractors.  Walls are uneven, nail sticking out of threshold, no bracing for pocket door or the bathtub.  Didn't use green board or cement board.  We live on a crawl and we had a rainforest under the house.

    M&D Property Services
This contractor was hired to fix our house on a fire restoration project. He claimed the whole project would be done 3 months after he received payment. The fire occurred in early April of 2016 and he was paid in August of 2016. We weren't able to move back into our home until October. Additionally, we had countless problems with work being done in a very lazy fashion or just plain incorrectly and having to have it redone. We spent our first night home with no heat because he forgot to connect the gas back to the heater. Shortly after, the dryer wouldn't dry because he forgot to reconnect the gas. The plumbing under my sink came apart and flooded my kitchen after he put in the new dishwasher. The walls were painted the wrong colors and had to be repainted, as well as the floor being stained the wrong color and having to be redone. There are scuffs all over our cheap cabinet doors and have been since they were installed. We went the entire summer with no gutters on our house and now, several months later, we still haven't had the gutter guards installed, the shoddy gutters that were installed leak, some of our soffit still isn't up, the paining on the home exterior isn't complete, and this isn't even a complete list of everything wrong. All of my texts and calls go ignored and his employees have informed me that he owes them back pay. Additionally, the last response that I got from him was that he spent the money from my job to complete other jobs and now he doesn't have the funds to complete my job until he gets paid from other jobs. I can't even change insurance companies because this is holding me hostage because the claim is still open. The permit will be a year old next month and will expire. My lawyer has informed me that the next steps are to get a few estimates from other contractors of the cost to finish the work and sue to get that money back so I can get out of my contract and get the work finally completed. Whatever you do, please do yourself a favor and do not use this contractor. This entire last year+ has been a nightmare.

    PRJ Construction Concepts LLC
They were amazing to work with they did a quality job and had my bathroom completed in 7 days. New drywall, new tile (shower and floors), new cabinets, counter tops, re-ran plumbing and electrical and installed all new fixtures. After making many calls to contractors only to be stood up when it came time to get an estimate or start the project, I have to say I was more than pleased with the response and action of PRJ construction and would highly recommend them.

this place is fantastic. They gave us a schedule of start and finish and completed exactly to the day. the workers/contractors are wonderful, knowledgable and answered any questions we had, We were home the whole time and they were polite, considerable. the work is totally awesome, they did a wonderful, meticulous job and did exactly what they said they would do, and more. I would hire this company again, and plan to on future projects.

Its been five years since the rebuild and all the work we had done is still solid as a rock. We had a fire at our house and had to rebuild and replace the kitchen, bath, bedrooms, walls, windows-- everything! Havmack did a professional job. A few issues and problems came up during the process of rebuilding (like the hardwood floor color was not right) and Jack handled each and every issue? to our complete satisfaction. I highly recommend Havmack.

    Prestige Construction LLC
The job had to be completely redone.  We had been told one week.  Three weeks later the project was finally finished, after several days of no shows throughout the project. It was awful.  The owner of the company apologized because it wasn't his "regular" tile guy who did it.  He ended up making the guy tear it all out, which was very uncomfortable for us.  To have a guy in and out of your house who you had serious complaints about.  After about a week, his regular tile guy came and fixed it and it looked beautiful.  After letting it set for almost a week (just to be cautious) we started using the bathroom again.  Only to step out to a sopping wet bathroom floor.  We were EXTREMELY upset because our brand new shower was leaking 100 times worse than the shower we had replaced.  After several phone calls and weeks, they sent someone out to look at it (from shower door company).  We were told that the frameless doors should never be used on the neo-angle shower we have because of the lack of space for water to go.  This shower door expert came back a week later with a new edge for the bottom.  The leak is not down to a minimal drip.  However, we have a new leak in another corner, again, worse than it ever was before it was replaced.  We are extremely disappointed overall with our experience and final product.  We hired a contractor so the project wouldn't take forever (which it dit) and so that our issues would be solved (which they weren't).  The owners of the company are extremely nice, but we are just not happy with thier advice or the quality of the work.

    Your Chicagoland Remodeling
The Angieslist ad for this provider says they work in Illinois, Southern Wisconsin and Northwest Indiana. Chris informed me they only work in Illinois and are not licensed in Indiana for certain aspects of construction, ie: electric. No work could be performed for us.

    Apex Construction & Remodeling
I found Apex on Angie's List. I had contacted several others (also on the list) but Andy Kerman from Apex was the only one to respond and arrange a face to face meeting.
Andy met with us several times and we kept in contact mainly by email and phone. Andy was always quick to respond to my messages and honestly answered all our questions. He assigned us some "homework" to do regarding picking out fixtures, floor and wall tiles. This helped us to have an "investment" of time and effort in the project. I was also an invaluable learning experience to see what was available in today's marketplace.
Apex crew members Albert and Kyle removed all the fixtures and debris & cleaned up as they went along. Since this is the only bathroom they had to make arrangements to keep a functioning toilet as soon after demolition and sub-floor repairs would permit. They also made sure that the water supply was not interrupted any longer than was necessary. Toilet function was maintained throughout the course of the job.
Apex installed 3/4 plywood and half inch cement board as well as a new tub-shower unit, commode and pedestal sink. New in-wall mounted medicine cabinet and over the john storage cabinet.
Tile was installed on the floor and walls (up 45 inches from floor). The existing door was removed. The inside casing was replaced and hall side casing was (carefully) removed to be reinstalled.
A new door and inside casing were installed and window jamb extension with trim. The door side facing the hall was stained and finished to match up with the existing woodwork. The match was done extremely well and matches the 60+ year old trim almost exactly.
Because the bathroom is small, there were some challenges regarding installation of larger components. However, the Apex crew handled them quickly, quietly and systematically. They never showed any uncontrolled frustration even when things were very tight. Bert and Kyle were always on time and worked the entire time they were here except for a short break in the morning and lunch. They were always courteous and answered any questions. They also provided guidance when questions arose regarding placement of some secondary items.

    Banter Floor & More
I had high hopes for this project. I found the company on Angie's List and was impressed after visiting their large showroom and meeting with the sales associate Dana. I had decided to have my flooring job done by a company that specializes in flooring installation after having not so great results with  using one of the "big box" stores for carpet installation. We had also planned to do a bathroom remodel but dropped that idea after the kitchen floor experience. On the first day, one person showed up about 90 minutes late, and was not prepared for the job. He was under the impression that he was to rip out an old vinyl floor and was not aware that the old floor was a ceramic floor. He did not have the equipment he needed to demolish the floor, and he also needed more help, as this was a big job in a large kitchen. Eventually he got the equipment and extra help and started to remove the old floor.I was shocked when I returned home from work that first day. My entire house, and I am not exaggerating here, was covered from top to bottom with a thick layer of white dust from the floor demolition.Apparently the old floor was improperly installed on a drywall subfloor so there was a massive amount of dust released during the removal of the old floor. It was as if a dust bomb had been released in the house! The workers did not use any type of barrier to prevent the dust from being released into the house, so every surface in the house, even the second floor, was covered with this dust. My husband and I both called the company to complain. We tried to contact Dana but she was "unavailable". I was told by the one of the staff that it's not their practice to use a plastic barrier to keep dust in the work area. They did send someone out the next day to vacuum up some of the dust on the first floor but that was just a minute part of the mess. The installers put up a plastic barrier on the second day. When the floor was finished, the installer put dirty, scuffed trim back on the toe kick area and dirty quarter round trim around the cabinets! The trim is white so this is very noticeable. When I mentioned to him that the trim needed painting he said I should get a can of spray paint! The floor looks pretty good. There are a couple of small spots that look bumpy like the subfloor isn't smooth underneath. I am probably the only one who notices. The overall experience with Banter was negative and I would not use them again. Incidentally, it took me 8 hours to clean the dust off every surface in my kitchen alone, and $150.00 to have all the curtains and valances from kitchen and living room dry cleaned.
