    Spears assymbly specialists
If you are concerned about safety and quality workmanship, do not use this vendor. We recently used Angie's LIst to obtain help getting a playground set assembled. We have a special needs daughter, and I have some physical issues with my knee. As a result, I was not able to help my husband assemble the set. Also, we are new to the area, so we don't know many people to ask for help since we recently moved from New Jersey. The playset was purchased in May from Costco and was sitting in our garage while we searched for a service provider to help us. We were initially impressed that the provider "Spears Assembly Specialists" supposedly had an abundant amount of experience in the field, understood our situation, our concern with safety (since our yard has a slope), and would be able to get started almost immediately. He had also mentioned that there were some issues with some of his clients' checks in relation to their accounts having "insufficient funds", so we agreed to pay him the amount for assembling the playset ($350) in cash. However, we started noticing problems after a couple of days into it. First, he had told us that he jumped around during the assembly process because it was easier to assemble the accessories by himself and would be able to do the larger items with others over the weekend. His process wasn't a problem with us until my husband noticed that 3 of the 6 main structure panels were in the wrong place and that the connection of the slide would not be able to be done correctly. In addition, when they finished, there was a huge amount of "spare parts" (over 40 washers, screws, and brackets), which included 2 5" lag screws that are used to support the main joist that the swings are hung. Upon further inspection, we noticed the following issues: 1. The door entering the main structure was attached incorrectly (which my husband was able to correct). 2. The main structure was missing key screws to connect the panels towards the top of the panels. My husband was able to find where some go and also put in the 5" lags missing from the swing support joist.. 3. A main frame support, the ladder, climbing wall, and telescope are in the wrong place. 4. None of the "pre-drilling" was done so the bards are splitting (basically ruining the playset because we can't take it apart to fix it and ensure it will be safe to use since the integrity of the wood may be compromised. 5. Floor boards are not completely screwed down. 6. We found a screw penetrating the interior play area causing definite safety hazard where children can be injured. 7. The joist, where the swings hang from has the support arm incorrectly connected (support bracket should be slanted in the opposite direction). I can continue on, but I thing you get the picture. We have taken pictures of these items have shared them here. The damage to the playset will require us to basically do the following to ensure our daughter has a "safe" playset to enjoy: 1. Have our current one disassembled and taken away. 2. Purchase a new playset. 3. Find a vendor that actually is "experience" and will actually perform a reliable job. We initially contact Spears Assembly Specialists regarding the issues we found deficient with their work. However, there was no response from them. Therefore, we decided to schedule an appointment with an attorney to find out our options for taking legal action against the service provider due to the poor workmanship and them basically destroying the playset. When we approached Angie's List about the situation, we were basically referred to purchase the "Gold Level" membership in order to resolve the issue. Regards, Liza De Leon

    Draper Fencing Company LLC
I signed up for 4 hrs of service, which they said was 2 hrs of 2 people. One of these people was obviously in training; he handed nails to the other man as he worked on the trellis. After he fixed the trellis, I looked and one side was obviously higher than the other. I brought this to his attention and he fixed it. While he did this the other man went inside to work on the doors. I went in to check on him and found him CUTTING MY CARPET, instead of trimming the door as we had discussed I caught him before he did too much damage. The trellis guy came in, showed him how to get the door off and use a saw to take a little off the bottom of the door (which he did on my driveway). He had put the door on a folded-up ladder to trim it with a circular saw. I was afraid the saw might mar the driveway. As soon as he started sawing, the door started moving. Seeing this, I stepped onto the door, stabilizing it for him while he cut. So, in summary, they got the jobs done, but required close supervision. Mr Draper had stated to me during scheduling that his company " does mostly fencing and concrete". I can believe that.

Well Done Handyman & Home Renovations
It was a disaster.  I originally hired Well Done to come to my home and hang a large picture in my master bedroom and a simple curtain rod in a second bedroom. Justin was sent out to do the job. I was not at home when work was done, my husband was there to tell them what to do.  When I got home to see the finished product, the picture was hung unevenly and the curtain rod was also crooked. There were also multiple dirty fingerprints on my walls near the curtain rod and the picture, which must have happened as Justin was installing both. I immediately called the owner to report the problem. He apologized and said he would make it right and then would provide me another service at a later date free of charge.
The following week David Price called me to tell me that he wanted Justin to be able to redeem himself so he was sending Justin back to fix the problems.  I was concerned, but willing to give him another chance.
Justin arrived 35 minutes late.  I showed him the two projects, and he immediately told me that my curtain rod was crooked because my window was crooked, and the picture wasn't straight because the floor wasn't straight.  I live in a new home and told him I thought that was unlikely.
After the work was done, and Justin and his coworker left my house I went to the master bedroom to check on the picture and noticed a huge, round  black stain on my carpet directly under the picture.  It was either stain from a can or a dirty pant's leg.  I immediately texted a photo to David Price. He responded right away that Justin sent him a picture of the stain as well and told him it was on the carpet when he got their. I then tried to call David, but he wouldn't take my call, I left a message telling him that the stain wasn't there before Justin started work, and didn't he think it was odd that Justin would alert him to the stain after the job was finished, instead of before the work got started?  I have spent more than two hours trying to remove the stain with no luck. I will need to hire a professional to get the stain out.  I have not heard back from David Price or anyone from Well Done.

    Handyman Connection of Carmel
We bought the deal of $499 for a day. We needed the the shower and bathtub to be re-caulked because of mildew. The house is 10 years old and other than some mildew everything in the shower was perfectly fine. Ron did the job. It wasn't a clean look but at least the mildew was gone. But what we didn't know is he actually created a bigger problem.
Less than 6 months later, in January this year, we noticed the caulking in one of the corners that he re-caulked was cracking and had holes. By the time we noticed it, the water would have already got under neath the bench and the corner of the bench was already warped. We called them. Ron came. We expressed our concern about the water damage but Ron told us there shouldn't be any water damage and he would just re-caulk it again. So we thought, okay, he's the expert. We just went with it.
Now less than 1 month later, the caulk is cracking again. Ron came and checked it out, told us we need tile work and he would tell his office. When I called the office to follow up, the owner told me that they are not going to fix the shower under warranty. He stated that based on what Ron told him, there is water damage and the problem is not the caulking he did, but the grout, which is not re-sealed every year due to homeowner's negligence. When I pushed him for answers, he agreed with me that there is no grout underneath the bench, just mortar (or glue) and then caulking between the bench and the tiles. So I said how would grout cause leaking when there is no grout in play here at all. I also told him the bench was not warped before Ron re-caulked it. He wouldn't change his "conclusion" and even indicated it's "convenient" for homeowners to blame their handymen work so they can get their problems fixed for free. I couldn't believe my ears! Was he calling me a liar because I want them to fix the problem they created in the first place?!?
I was (still am) in shock at how unprofessional he is, how he could draw conclusion without doing an inspection, or even looking at some pictures, but simply based on what he heard from his staff, not to mention how quickly he attacks the integrity of customers when he tries to get out of his warranty responsibility.

Needless to say, I'm very disappointed. Now I have a bigger problem created by them. If you do end up using them, make sure to take tons of pictures before, during, and after. Even with that, be prepared to be called a liar if things go wrong and substantial work is needed to fix the problem.

    Keiths Handyman
I reached out to Keith because I needed a handyman to hang several pictures in my home.  When I talked to him the said that he charged $40 per hour.  I estimated that perhaps it would take him two hours to do the job.  He came to my home, showed up at 9 am and was finished by 10 - so he was there one hour.  He charged $75.  My husband was home and wasn't aware of the cost per hour so he paid the $75 no questions asked.  When I called Keith to ask why he overcharged me by $35, he said he didn't realize the job was hanging so many pictures. I reminded him that he charges $40 per hour and that he was in my home for one hour total.  He said that once he got there and realized how many pictures he had to hang. that's when he decided the job would cost $75.

    Randy King
Randy showed up as promised and was thorough in his work. He stayed for several hours and scheduled time to return and finish. All of the jobs that we have asked Randy to help us with have been completed on time and with skill.

    Zo Construction and Handyman
I was very pleased with the job and the price was less than half of what I would have paid for either of the two quotes I had already gotten.  The quality of painting was very good and the job was exactly as expected.  Also, they gave me the full value of the deal, even painting part of a window we hadn't discussed, as part of the "day" of work.  I would definitely use again.

    Rollins Rentals & Rehabs LLC
Poor communication initially trying to set up. He ended up not finding anything wrong with my outlets and said the problem is when I plug too much in. We had the same problem happen after we were out of town for the weekend. I've called and left a message the last 2 days and still have not received a call back.

    Apex Design Build
They arrived as scheduled and performed the work as planned.  After they left, I noticed there was one picture that wasn't hanging right. I contaced the service provider and they were out first thing the next business day to correct the problem.  Very responsive.
