Cabinet Refacing reviews in Fishers

    Walla Painting
Everything went very well. They all stayed on schedule and completed the work per the estimated time frame. Because of the detail they do on the cabinets allow extra time. Cabinet paint needs time to cure. It is definitely worth the wait! Needed a few minor touch ups and they scheduled around my limited schedule. Their price included cost of all paint and unlike other quotes we received, they did not upcharge the price of the paint.

Pioneer Kitchen completed the quote, measuring, and selection of hardware and countertops at their show room on time. Everyone we worked with was professional, knowledgeable, and patient. The installation started and completed on time for the exact amount of money quoted. We love the new look and the value it has added to our home.

    A&W Exterior Restoration
In 2015 he and his crew repaired the bad work done by RE-side, David Mills, and proved to me that they have a high level of professionalism. Wally?s workers are highly skilled and showed high levels of professionalism. When they work, they do not rush at all, are diligent and they take their time and use superior quality materials and flawless workmanship. They are such kind, honest, easy to work with and down-to-earth nice people.

When I first met Wally, he said when he takes on a customer they are a customer for life. I was very skeptical and thought it was a sales pitch. I have known him since 2014 and he has proven this to be true time and time again - he really meant it.

In 2014 and 2015 the workers and Wally donated countless time and materials towards my mother's house (Please see review December 2015). This company truly takes care of their customers for life. They are totally opposite of RE-Side, David Mills.  In August 2008 David Mills replaced the whole house with James Hardie Fiber Cement Siding and it didn't even last 5 years. One wall failed miserably due to cheap material and poor workmanship. Also, on the front of the house one siding plank fell down and was not secured by the worker from RE-Side and it was so ugly. Dishonest David Mills was still blaming this on the warranty work. He didn't put any metal flashing (a water barrier) in-between the butt-joint. Instead he used cheap caulking which all dried out. This resulted in water getting in it and shrunk the material creating large gaps in every butt-joint. Also, RE-Side didn't shim the wall as he should have due to the walls being wavy. This caused water to get behind the siding and shrunk it more causing more waves. I read a bad review of RE-Side, David Mills' residing work (December 2009) in which another member stated that they had the same experience with that fact that he did no shimming and the result was wavy walls. When the home owner complained, he blamed it on bad structure that the whole subdivision (350 plus homes) experienced and not his own inferior workmanship. The review from December 2009 captured David Mills' character completely and accurately, nailed it 100%. She said he was dishonest and blamed his wrongdoing on someone else.

This is what happened with my mom's home, blaming the wavy walls on the bad structure of the home.  When A & W tore up the wall to repair David Mills' work they found no shimming and no flashing on the wall. When David Mills' reside installer hung up the siding planks they were hasty with the work. A & W took their time and care with shimming the wall, which was 36 feet wide by two stories. This took a long time and they used a shim gauge for every single line and every space to ensure it laid flat. Other companies will not do that and will only shim as needed. A & W did the entire wall.

In February 2014, I contacted David Mills regarding the wall and failing he came in and looked at it. He sent me by e-mail the claim form, which he asked me to file the claim with the James Hardie Warranty Department. When I contacted him he showed no remorse and told me very coldly and heartlessly that he didn't want to get involved. He never returned my calls. I was dumbfounded he didn't want to get involved at all even though he collected $15,000 from me. Over almost three years, he never checked on how the claim was going or that the issues were resolved. He never even called me once and just disappeared. He doesn't take care of his customers and goes out to solicit more business without resolving the problems generated by his poor work. Later my blood was boiling because I found out from the James Hardie Claim department inspector and the 10 contractors that came to inspect my mom's house found that poor installation done by David Mills' Reside was the problem. That made me really angry.

James Hardie warranty claim department and their claim inspector told me that the majority of the siding failure was caused by the poor workmanship done by RE-side. The 10 contractors who came and inspected my mom's home agreed with the inspector from James Hardie. My blood was boiling when the James Hardie claim department told me they shouldn't even cover my mom's house because RE-side used harsh roofing nails in some areas (must've ran out of delicate face nails) to secure the siding to the home, which caused cracking of the siding material. Some of the 10 contractors that came to inspect my mom's house said my warranty would be out the window because Re-side, David Mills' crew used harsh roofing nails to cause cracks in the siding. James Hardie's product failure is only minimum (about 300 sq foot). They decided to give 1700 square foot of material for two walls and pay for the labor and materials. They also decided to clean up after RE-side's mess and look after my mother. I really appreciated their generosity from the bottom of my heart.

Out of 30 contractors Wally was the only one that would help with my mom's house and work with the moderate budget from James Hardie claim department. Those 30 contractors told me they didn't want to clean up after the mess left by the previous poor reside job and Wally was the only one that would. Last year and this year he has done countless other things to help my mother on his expense (he paid out of pocket for many labor hours for his skilled workman and high quality materials). Out of 30 contractors I contacted I plead with them to repair my mom's roof leak above the garage. Everyone turned down my plea and wanted to only give me a temporary fix by putting a sealant on the roof. If I wanted a permanent fix it would be between $500 and $800. Out of 30 contractors Wally was the only one that would give my mother a permanent fix repair at no charge. The foreman, Mike, put on new shingles and put in ice sheets under the shingles to prevent water in the future. They used premium quality materials and provided superb labor in repairing the roof with a permanent fix for no charge. He even gave a 10 year labor warranty on the roof after fixing it for free, normally 1 to 5 years is the maximum time for a labor warranty. They winterized my mom's house in 2014 and 2015. They repaired the garage door and replaced the garage door tracks. They painted the thirteen shutters and front porch railing. They also repaired the windows. They restored her wooden deck like brand new that had been neglected for 20 years. This took three days, many labor hours, and manpower to paint three coats of stain and replace the rotted wood pieces. Countless extras they had all done free of charge. These countless extras were not part of the moderate budget from James Hardie (the moderate budget only covered the replacing of two walls, labor, paint, and materials).

On July 25th, 2015, I read a review on A & W Exterior Restoration. This smart homeowner?s review expressed that she has had very bad experiences with contractors in her lifetime like many of us and does not trust or like them. After one meeting with Wally, I was very impressed with this member?s accurate, quick judge of character. She noted his honesty, professional assessment and fair price estimate. She was able to see that he is very different from the others. He was not pushy and kept the customer?s financial interest in mind. He provided several different options for her project without burdening the customer financially.

The few negative reviews that are reflected on A&W Exterior Restoration?s profile are a result of snap judgements and unfair expectations of those members that posted the reviews. These reviews do not reflect any work or experience that was had with A&W Exterior Restoration, and rather reflect the impatience or impractical beliefs the members that wrote the reviews had. It?s too bad for those members as they are missing out on a big opportunity and Wally can do so much to help them. They could be his customer for life.

It?s like a home improvement show like ABC?s Home Makeover. It happened because of the generosity from A& W, Wally and James Hardie claim department. I really appreciated from the bottom of my heart and will always remember their caring and generosity toward my mother.  If you have any new projects coming up, you must try Wally. He will never disappoint the homeowner and will always look after their interest especially financially. He truly takes on a project as if it will be a customer for life. Like me, anyone can build a beautiful friendship with Wally that will last a lifetime. Truly Wally is a beautiful person inside and outside. He is a real gem in the construction business.

Excellent! My 25 year old cabinets were starting to separate, and within 3 days, the guys were able to completely restore them and replace the old doors with brand new, beautiful maple doors and hardware. It looks like a new kitchen, and it was much cheaper than starting from scratch.

Wow! The new color of the trim and Master vanity is beautiful! The kitchen cabinets look new. I should have paid extra to have them touch up the inside of the kitchen cabinet doors because the outside looks too good!

It was a wonderful experience!  They arrived on time and were totally professional in their approach to satisfying my needs and vision for a new look!  I even locked them out one day, but they remained gracious and understanding.  My friends and family have raved about the fresh look of the cabinets!

The process from start to finish was flawless.  Working with Tom Jeffers, David Moore and the installers was a pleasure.  All of my questions were answered quickly and the quality of workmanship and products used were exceptional.  The installers were very detailed with their work and the entire installation process took 3 days and went very smoothly.  The installers were on time every day and kept the job site very clean.  I would not hesitate in using Pioneer Kitchen in the future.

    Devries Custom Painting
Josh was able to visit my home and provide an estimate on the same day I called him, and he started the next day. All work was done over a day and a half.  Winter is his slow season, so that certainly helped with the expediency.
I was nervous about hiring a painter, because I have done a lot of restoration and painting work myself, and I was uncertain if I could find someone who would work to my standards. Josh immediately put me at ease by explaining his technique and the products he used. He even gave me some tips to improve my technique.
Originally, Josh's estimate was $850.00 plus the cost of paint. He managed to get the work done more quickly than anticipated, so he covered the cost of the paint, saving us approximately $150.00.
Josh and his assistant were very polite and respectful of our home. They put down a paper runner from the bedroom to the nearest outside door, so they would not trek paint or dirt on our floors. When finished, they vacuumed and cleaned up very well.
The price was steep, but the quality was worth it. If I ever need something painted and I can't get it done myself, I will definitely call Josh again.

    A&W Exterior Restoration
A&W (Wally) the owner was totally different . He did many extra things for my mom at no cost.  They not only replaced two walls completely with premium material, they did so with outstanding workmanship.  My mom's  house had been somewhat neglected for 20 years.  Compassionate Wally
wanted to help my mother and he did a lot  at no cost. The major thing
was they not only repaired the leaking roof,  did an above and beyond,
perfect job using premium quality shingles and ice sheet underneath that provides 100%
water protection at no charge -even gave a 10 year warranty.  Mike,
the foreman, he is a genius like Mr McGiver, he has a sharp eye, found the
problem and made custom metal piece to repair the roof leak . The
roofing company that had previously replaced the whole  roof in
2008 could not fix the roof leaking the problem.  I was not optimistic about a wood deck
that was neglected for about 20 years, it had algae and dirt all over it, some
wood had rotted and dried out,  splinters all over, no one
wanted to walk on it, it was a hopeless case.  I consulted a few professionals
who suggested I tear it down.  When I showed it to Wally, he
was not optimistic but that he would give it a try.  Joe on the first day
power washed the deck thoroughly for several hours consistently on every spots.
On the second day, Joe used a solution of bleach, scrubbing for 3-4 hours.  Compassionate Mike the foreman
replaced with new custom made wood, rotted railing and some of the
flooring.  I was impressed with their carpentry skills.  Now I see
why their email address is www.awcarpentry.com because of their skillful
carpentry work.  On the third day it took 3 gentlemen a whole afternoon to
stain over and over again the deck with a thick rich stain. This premium
stain (Super Deck) approximately 4 gallons ($55 a gallon) was provided
by Wally, it is a Sherwin Williams top quality product.  This was an
impossible case, but four men gave 100% lot of time and effort, three
days, to restore the deck.  When they were finished, I was in tears, the
deck was beautiful, breathtaking to look at, much better than 20 years ago, it
was like brand new. Compassionate Wally provided the premium materials and paid
out of pocket for many labor hours of his workers to restore my mom?s
hopeless deck. Even after three days of lots hard work and time at no cost,
still Mike told me he will be back next spring to re-check and touch up the
paint on the deck. I was moved by his commitment and devotion.  Last winter and this winter they winterized
her home twice (caulked the windows, the front door seals and put seals
around the door frame). They replaced three sets of spring latches for the
windows.  Mike also made custom metal to repair some windows.
They also installed three smoke detectors in the house.  They also cleaned
the dryer vents a few times, replaced the garage door tracks, installed three
vented hoods and place wires to keep animals from coming in, repaired a bay
window bottom panel, repaired, resurfaced and painted three garage
doors. They put in quite a bit of time and effort. A storm had blown away
the original screen and frame.  Talented Mike had to custom make a new window screen and frame. Two guys took  a
lot of time painted a front porch long railing. My mom has 13 pretty good
sized shutters, they took them down and put them back, primed and then put on two
coats of paint - the 30 contractors did not want to do this work (they did not
want to paint nor put back up).  A&W never complained and did a superb job.  Because of the poor job done by Re-Side using cheap caulking on two walls that were not replaced, Wally?s workers painstakingly re-caulked every
single spot on the two walls (using premium caulking material) preventing them
from cracking and water entering and causing shrinkage behind the siding.
They checked and retagged every butt joint with delicate pin nails and
re-caulked if needed on the same two walls not being replaced. They spent lots
of time and effort to prevent future damages. Again, every single one of the 30
contractors refused to do this job because of the long process and hard work
involved.  The vulnerable West wall failed miserably due to Re-Side?s cheap caulking, so in order to get through
last winter (December 2014, before repair), A & W retagged and re-caulked all the butt joints on the whole wall so we can get through the winter.  Thanks to A&W, to Wally, my
mother's two walls (West and front) have been replaced entirely, and the shutters,
garage doors and long front porch railing have a brand new paint job.  They repainted the entire front of the house entirely
because of Wally?s extra care and attention to detail, providing extra paint
and labor hours to make sure everything matched almost like a brand new house.
They put in so much extra time and effort and put in countless extra things, it?s
like a home improvement show like ABC?s Home Makeover.  It happened
because of the generosity from A& W, Wally and James Hardie claim
department. I really appreciated from the bottom of my heart and will always remember
their caring and generosity toward my mother. Contractors  usually do not tell
you how much paint is needed, they like to use as little as possible, Wally was
so honest and asked me how much paint I needed for this project - I was very
moved by his honesty. This was expensive top premium duration paint $72 a
gallon from Sherwin Williams - and he was still asking the homeowner how much
paint would be needed. It is amazing that instead of thinking about the profit,
he was only concerned about the customer?s well-being and satisfaction. Wally?s
crew, apprentices Scott, Tony, Mike, Shawn and Joe are very diligent, honest,
highly skilled workers and they truly look after the homeowner?s interest. My
neighbor next door was having chimney repair done and Wally?s worker alerted me
that while the homeowner was not home, the company doing the work did not
replace the rotted wood and recycled the same old siding. I alerted my neighbor
thanks to Wally?s crew looking out for my neighbor?s interest. They told me
they would never do that on a job, they would alert the
homeowner and replace the rotted wood with new siding material. When I
consulted Wally about the chimney repair price, he said he not only would use
completely new wood and siding (will never recycle the siding) his price was
cheaper than the job done at my neighbor?s home.  He will not take shortcuts and will replace
the rotted wood with brand new materials. Another neighbor told me a horror
story that another contractor put new siding on his house without replacing the
rotting wood underneath. He had to redo the job and spend an extra $10,000 to
correct the problem. A& W and Wally will never shortcut the customer. I
have heard of a few contractors volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and
bragging about it. Wally has quietly donated so much time, paid out of pocket
for the highly skilled workers and materials and countless other things to help
out my mother. I don?t think any contractor in the United States is as
compassionate and honest as Wally. He is a truly extraordinary human being. I
have known him since last December and he told me that when he takes a project
he treats the homeowner as a customer for life. I truly believe he meant it and
it is not a sales pitch. My mother is a very honest, compassionate woman. She
is 83 years old. The crew (four to five guys) was here for seven days working
(five full days and two half days), and my mother went out every day and bought
fresh ingredients and cooked nutritious, home cooked bountiful, full course
    meals for the crew. She also provided snacks and refreshments throughout the day;
she really took care of them and wanted to pay back their hard work and
kindness for looking after her home. Even Wally?s workers talk about Wally
highly, especially the foreman, Mike. He told me Wally is a gem and that he is
so lucky to have found him as a boss. Indianapolis is so lucky to have such an
incredible contractor. I hope more people get to know him and experience his
personal care. Thanks to Angie?s List for showing great appreciation
for him and recognizing his accomplishments as a Super Service award winner in
many categories year after year. People are afraid that if I tell my
story, other homeowners will take advantage and expect special treatment from
Wally. James Hardie claim department broke their rule and also made an
exception to help my mother.  But I feel I
have a moral obligation to tell everyone what an exceptional person inside and
out he is for showing great compassion and helping out my poor, elderly mother
who was in desperate need of help for many years. So now her house can
appreciate a little more home value and is aesthetically improved, increasing
beauty of her home and allowing her to get through the harsh winter warmly and
safely thanks to the winterization done by Wally and his crew. Truly he is a
guardian angel for my mother. Thanks to Wally and crew (Scott, Joe, Shawn, Tony
and Mike), James Burnett (James Hardie regional sales), and James Hardie claim
department for their commitment, devotion and for their moral support while I
was sunken in depression from Re-Side?s terrible job and for showing
unconditional love for my mother. They are my heroes. I will always remember
their compassion and care, this world needs more people like them. I took a lot
of time going into detail about the siding installation to help out other
members and educate and warn homeowners so they do not have to go through the bad
experience like I did with Re-Side.  If
you have any new projects coming up, you must try Wally. He will never
disappoint the homeowner and will always look after their interest especially
financially. He truly takes on a project as if it will be a customer for life.

    Booher Remodeling Co
Unfortunately, this deal was a major disappointment. The deal I purchased was for a design consultation for a kitchen, which included a $200 credit toward any work performed by the contractor. Sadly, I really only paid for a person to come out and provide a quote - there was very little actual design consultation. I did receive a picture of what my kitchen could look like if I spent $11,000 with this provider, but received almost no consultation of what colors to use to make the space work. According to the quote, we would pick out materials when it was time to do the actual construction. After I purchased the deal and made the appointment for the consultation, I made it clear that I was looking for help choosing colors and materials, as well as placement for materials (back splash, for instance) but that I did not anticipate having this contractor do the work. Since we proceeded with the appointment, I assumed this was acceptable.
The design consultant, Sabrina, came to my house and was very professional. She took measurements and took pictures, and I was hopeful.  However, the quote that I received was really just that - a quote of the work to be done based on what I told her we were thinking about doing. When I didn't see any color/design suggestions, I replied that I was looking for more thorough design selections - with specifics like, what paint color should I use given the wall color. The only response I received was a paint color for cabinets, and a generic, "add a cabinet here, use this type of counter top..." etc.

This was by no means a design consultation with recommendations. As stated above, I basically paid for someone to come and provide a quote. If you are not looking to spend thousands having a contractor do a kitchen renovation, I would not purchase this deal.
