Nightmare, one mess up after another. To begin with poured the wrong concrete. Was supposed to be stamped, they poured aggregate. Got concrete splashed all over the brick on the house in the front and back. Cleaned it off the front, left it in the back. Messed up the concrete in the driveway, they let it set up before it got sprayed off to make the aggregate look. The are areas of uneven finish and pitting. They busted up one section and redid it because it was so bad. When they busted out the section they cracked a corner of a section they did not replace now that corner is breaking out. During the pouring of the sidewalks my water meter was ran over by the concrete truck. Both companies wanted to point the finger at the other as to who was at fault. He did do something's to adjust for pouring the wrong concrete, but overall the quality is not very good for what I paid and definitely was one problem after the other.

    Affordable Concrete

After contacting three contractors for estimates to build an aggregate concrete sidewalk, I decided to go with Affordable Concrete, 210 Dusty RD, Boonville, IN.  One factor I considered was that Affordable was building a driveway for one of the new John Mattingly homes being built in my subdivision and I was able to see their completed work.

Affordable visited my home on Friday March 27, 2015 to get information in order to give me an estimate.  Almost a month later, and only after I called, I was given a quote for the work.  I was told that they were scheduling jobs several weeks out, but a 10% down payment ($220.00) would get me on the list.  On Wednesday April 22, I provided the down payment.

On May 26, June 1, and June 3 I left voice messages inquiring about the status of my installation.  On June 4, I sent an email inquiry in which Ron Knirs responded (surprisingly quick), stating that he was sorry about the no return calls, and that he would call me.  He also stated that I was scheduled the first week of July.

Ron Knirs did not call me? and Affordable did not show up the first week of July as promised.  I sent an email on Monday July 13 and left a voice message on Thursday July 16 attempting to get a status on my sidewalk installation.  Affordable Concrete did not respond to either message.  I sent an email on Monday July 20 asking for a refund of my $220.00 down payment.  To date I have not received any response nor have I received a refund.

I will update this review when I receive my refund.

I contracted Dan to pour an exposed aggregate patio and driveway extension. Never go with the cheapest bidder as I did. It was the worst concrete finish I have ever seen in my life. None of it was exposed evenly. It was very splotchy. Also the concrete wasn't even level. The forms he used were wavy. Also got cracks the day after he was done. He offered to caulk the cracks. No thanks. Also leaked oil in front of my house from his old truck.

    Cornerstone Custom Homes
We have a poured concrete porch that is supported in the front by a block wall that goes 8 feet down into the ground. The wall had been poorly constructed and was caving in under the porch. This also was causing the brick on the front of the porch (about 18" above ground) to fall off. Cornerstone removed the brick, worked with an excavation company to repair and reinforce the wall, put stone on the front (replacing the brick that could not be matched), put in new steps, and performed several other cosmetic repairs. The result was a beautiful. We get many compliments on the look of the front porch and steps leading up to the porch.

I had received a few quotes for the work. All the quotes were within a couple hundred dollars of each other. I knew Neil through the Masonic Lodge and Hadi Shrine, so I knew he would be reliable and honest. That's exactly what I got - professional work at a fair price.

    Cornerstone Custom Homes
I truly can't say enough good things about this entire experience.  My home had been my grandmothers house and had a lot of sentimental value but that sentimental value could not justify the amount of money it would take to bring it up to code so that is when I got in touch with Cornerstone Custom Homes. I was introduced to the owner, Brett Scheu, by a mutual friend. At our first meeting, we discussed what I was looking for and I showed Brett a couple of sample floor plans that I had found online and thought I might be interested in.  He was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful in coming up with the perfect floor plan to suit my needs and keeping the cost reasonable.  Then we were ready to begin the work which started with a total demo of my home.  Not only was it done in a timely and most cost efficient way, they made special arrangements for me to be present to watch the house come down (because of the sentimental value). Although it was an emotional day, I must say I was both amazed and impressed by the actual process used.  Once the old house was down, there was NO waiting for the new construction to begin.....The concrete footers were poured the very next day, the framing was completed within the week and we were well on our way.  The demo took place on March 2 and on August 26th I was able to move in to my brand new home.

I would like to say to anyone looking to build a new home..... I could not have asked for a better builder and I highly recommend Cornerstone Custom Homes.  Mr. Scheu, Brett,  was professional at all times, was always available to answer any questions that  came up, talked me through any situations where I needed some direction, made sure that all of the sub-contractors were reliable and timely in their work, and built the highest quality home that I could ask for all while remaining extremely mindful of my budget and helping me stick to it.   I could NOT have asked for a better experience or a more BEAUTIFUL HOME!!!!!!!!

    Popham Construction
We have used Popham for years and think the quality of their work is exceptional.  This time we were very disappointed in not Popham workers - but in two of the contractors they used on the project.  The electrical, plumbing and HVAC they used less expensive providers and we ended up having most or all of the work redone.  No remodeling project is easy or perfect, in the end we thought Popham did a good job and responded to our concerns appropriately.  Our house turned out beautiful.

    Neil Lynn Concrete Construction
This was the first time I used him. I spent around $2000. He hauled everything away for me. He was very friendly and easy to work with. I changed my mind two or three times about the finish and he was very flexible. He was very prompt and punctual. He finished the work on time and cleaned up very well. I will use him again in the future.

It took longer than expected, but that was due to Jerry wanting to make sure it was done right. We love it!!
