    Well Done Handyman & Home Renovations
    I purchased the service for $27.65 for up to 2 hours of Handyman Service discounted from $79.00. The order date was September 10, 2017. When I initially called to schedule service the agent I spoke to didn���t think the medicine chest could be put into the wall, would take more than two hours and I had to have every piece of material needed at the time of the handyman���s arrival or the job couldn���t be completed. I understood that it might take more than two hours and would be an additional price. When I asked what additional products I needed I was told a 2x4. I set up the appointment. The day the handyman was scheduled I received a call telling me the handyman was needed elsewhere on a job more urgent than mine and that the Company was really losing money on the offer I had purchased from Angie���s List. I figure I���m out the &27.65 and probably better off anyway. The medicine chest has been hung and recessed into the wall without fanfare by a contractor that was here working for us on another job.

    It took a while to get started due to my hectic schedule but once the guys came out. They were able to detect the problem within a couple of hours and it was determined that it was a LOT more serious than we had first anticipated. The guys finished the job in two days and were professional, courteous and expedient.

    Homepro Heating & Cooling
    I wanted to share a service experience I recently had with Homepro Heating and Air out of Avon. I will not elaborate fully to save some reading. I called them out for an emergency service repair last Saturday night for one of my rental properties. The technician identified the issue as a defective circuit board after 2 hours of testing. I told him I agreed to replace if he was certain it was the board. They charged me $671 for the board itself and $75 to open the supply house after hours. Technician left and furnace quit within 30 minutes. Contacted them again on Sunday. They sent out a different tech that determined it to be a defective gas valve. He changed it without my consent or knowledge. They didn't even reach out to me. I had to reach to the tech from the night before to get an explanation. Furnace quit again after tech left. I again phoned them on Monday and they sent the tech from Sunday back. He then said it was a limit switch and changed. He also said it appears to be a combustion air issue and unit would run without doors on. He called the office to inquire on what to do. He got off the phone and advised me they would be there the next morning to install a fresh air flue. Again furnace went out. Tuesday at 11am I called the operations manager Rick to inform him of furnace not running. He went to the property to troubleshoot himself. I showed up an hour later to see what was found out. He said the filter needs to be a 1", run fresh air flue, and adjust exhaust flue. I informed him I would do that the next morning and call him to inform. Wednesday morning all he suggested was done. I installed the furnace cover and 7 minutes later the furnace quit. I immediately called Rick at Homepro and got his voicemail. This was 12pm Thursday, it is now 8:24pm Friday and I have yet to hear anything from Homepro. I sincerely try to use local businesses for my needs, but steer clear from HOMEPRO as their so called service techs have no formal training. I am so glad that I only have to write this once and can copy/paste to Yelp/Yext/BBB/Angie's list/Google By the way I hired another local contractor that troubleshot and fixed in an 1-1/2 for a $5 part

    The purchase was made in November 2016 but due to inclement weather and cold temperatures the actual project was postponed until suitable weather. Mr. Wilson monitored weather conditions, kept me informed, and the work was scheduled one of the very first days the temperature and weather permitted. The Apex crew were on-the-dot punctual. The work was done in nearly the exact time duration as estimated and the final bill was comparable with the estimate. Their work was done according to regulation and the work inspected -- something that the previous owners had obviously not done when the project was first completed. It is so nice to know that the roof is solid and up to code. It looks nice to not see the rotted boards, and I really appreciate parking and not getting dripped on!

    J.E. HOOVER REMODELING
    I sold Joe (J.E. Hoover) some equipment that was heavy and would have required him to bring a tractor or bobcat to load it onto a trailer.   I told him I had a neighbor that would load the peice for him, but he should pay him $10-$20 for time and fuel.  I reduced the price of the piece to be fair.
    After we loaded the piece on Joe's trailer he just drove away without paying the tractor guy anything.   That's really low, considering the tractor guy is in his 80's, on  a fixed income and took an hour out of his day, drove the tractor a mile and used a bit of fuel.
    So you can imagine if Joe's willing to cheat this guy out of $10-$20 dollars, what's he going to cut corners on with any job you may hire him to do?
    Bottom line:   This is a character with no conscience who'll cheat for a nickel.

    A-1 Indiana Waterproofing Inc

    A-1 Waterproofing, (Avon, Indiana) completed a basement waterproofing job for us recently Wayne, the owner and manager of A-1, came to our home for a free inspection; he brought with him one of his lead foremen and showed up on time. We were impressed that he did the inspection on a Saturday to accommodate our busy schedule.  His inspection was thorough both outside and inside of our home, searching for both residual water and water damage in the foundation, the basement walls, and floor for damage.

    Wayne thoroughly explained the various options for waterproofing our basement. He showed us exactly how the process worked from beginning to end, to include the products and tools necessary to complete the job. He then gave us a written estimate, which he based solely on his inspection without trying to underbid any competitors.

    The A-1 crew was prompt and professional; they began right away and didn?t stop working until the entire demolition portion was completed.  All of the employees were respectful of our house, family, and children.  The crew also limited any use of the yard for utility vehicles and left our yard and home just how they found it with zero damage. During the entire upgrade process, Wayne and his crew kept us informed often of the progress of the work and continually asked our input about everything, such as where we wanted our sump pumps.  The crew never had anything but a good attitude and worked their best to get the job done to my satisfaction.  During the job, the crew even found an eyesore pipe located in a poorly planned area of the basement. Without question and to my wife?s surprise and delight they moved it and covered it to code without us even mentioning it; my wife was very pleased. 

    The office at A-1 always answers the phone, even often at non-office hours.  Wayne even gave out his cell phone number as we were working in real time with the bank and wanted to help facilitate us having a smooth financing process.

    We had originally had a national branded company come out for an inspection before Wayne and A-1.  We were not impressed with the aggressive attitude of the salesmen or the flashy and un-personable feeling of the inspection and the estimate. Even after Wayne and A-1 came later to also inspect, the national company tried to aggressively underbid A-1, in what we considered an unprofessional manner.  Yet, we have been very happy so far with the overall professionalism of A-1 Waterproofing. The rainy season is here now and we have no more water in the basement!  We can definitely say that we were impressed and happy with the fact we chose A-1 for our home repairs and upgrade. To date we are 100% satisfied with the work and the finished product.

    Barry did a great job. He came out five days earlier and bid the job, then came on a Saturday morning to do the work. From beginning to end, he was a competent, Christian workman. He supplied all the materials required (plywood, luan) and had all his own tools. He finished on time, and well within his estimated amount.

    I purchased a deal from Angie's List for Tony the Toolman on September 10, 2014 for $299 for 8 hours of work.  My husband contacted Tony on Monday, September 15.  Tony said he would send 2 men out to do the work on Wednesday, September 17 at 10 am.  The 2 men arrived as scheduled on the 17th and set to work.  They needed to replace seven boards on the top of the pergola that had to each be customed trimmed to match the other existing boards.  They also custom cut and "wrapped" each leg with trim giving the pergola legs an over all finished look.  One hour was deducted from our alloted 4 hours for 2 men because they had to stop and buy a box of screws.  We gave them permission to work an additional 4 hours at $60 per hour to finish the project.  The price of the box of screws was included in the final fee of $547.00  We provided the lumber.
    The men cleaned up the area and hauled off all the debris.  They worked dilgently the whole time they were at our house.We are very pleased with their work.  We were overjoyed to have a contractor to schedule and actually show up and do the work in a very timely fashion.

    All Star Contractors
    We bought a coupon $99 for 4 Hours of Window Restoration and Weatherstripping and knew it would take more than 4 hours to have ~9 cracked windows replaced, so requested a written estimate for the total work. Contractor came out (who was a sub-contractor of All star) and provided estimate for time. We tried to share some information with him (on the fact that many of the windows wouldn't open) and they entire window frame would have to be removed for the lower or upper panes to be replaced. The contractor, although very very nice, was pretty sure that he could replace "his way", so provided a quote for xx hours.   Long story short - he spent about 6 or so extra house (above the additional written estimate)  trying to open windows that have been painted shut for 50 plus yrs vs just removing the window frame, which resulted in him being WAY off on the actual additional hours needed for the job. There was also a huge delay in getting scheduled, and between his visits, which was a problem for us, as we had sold the house and needed all the work done prior to the final walk-through from the buyers. We ended up paying for several more hours than the original quote (which they should have honored, especially since the "delay" was due to the contractor "messing around" trying to open shut windows vs just popping out the frames)  In addition, my husband ended up doing some of the work and replaced a few of the window panes himself and also removed some of the window frames in advance of his visits to expedite things.  The work was done correctly, but given the overage, the stress associated with the scheduling and the fact that they didn?t honor their written estimate, and the fact, that my husband did a 1/3 of the work, means that I will not use this company again.  The owner did offer me a discount off of any future work.
