  • Racer Cartage has the worst customer service I have ever personally seen. I ordered a bed from Walmart and was to have it shipped to my house and have it delevered on Friday 2/24/17. The day before arrival I called to confirm it would be here on the stated date. I was informed by walmart that estes would be shipping it to me. I called Estes and they scheduled me for Monday 2/27/17. Later that evening I got a suspicious text message to schedule my delivery from a Racer Cartage which I had never heard of. They called me the next day to setup my delivery which they claimed they could not do until 2/28/17 between 8a-12p. While I was unhappy this would have been acceptable. On the morning of 2/28/17 at 11am I called to see if they were on the way as I still had to work that day. I was told that they had lost part of my bed, keep in mind this is a king sized bed and 2 twin xl bases, and that it would take 24hrs for them to do a dock search. I tried to speak to a manager but upon asking and calling several times I was either hung up on or sent to a voicemail. Later that day I spoke to the driver manager who explained they would look for it but seemed very disinterested in helping me until I chewed him out. Miraculously after 20 min they found my other part to my bed however refused to run a special truck to me that day mind you I live 25 min from their facility. So I was promptly given a delivery date of 3/1/17 before noon which I stressed was important. At 8am on the day of the delivery I called and confirmed the morons hadn't lost any pieces and that it was actually on the truck Jenny in the office confirmed that it was and that it would be there at noon. At 1130 am I called and spoke with another associate to see what was going on with my delivery they called the driver and told me it would be 2pm before they got there when I complained I was told that their paperwork said it didn't have to be delivered until 315pm. I called Evan Mitchell operations manager after that which he did not answer so I left him an email letting him know that I was very upset and had been having multiple problems and that I would be contacting the BBB, Walmart, and Estes freight to complain. He of course never responded. I received my package on 3/1/17 at 2pm 2 out of the 3 boxes were completely destroyed one barely held together by shrink wrap. Product does not appear to be damaged however. If I could give them a negative star I would in my rating of them they are by far the worst customer service people I have seen I will never use these imbeciles again.

  • My experiences with Craters and Freighters of Indianapolis were commercial through my place of employment rather than consumer/residential for me personally. On two occasions within the last month, I needed to have computer data center equipment shipped. In once instance it was an empty 6 foot tall (72and quot; x 23and quot; x 39and quot;) server rack enclosure. In the second, it was a rack enclosure including servers, routers, switches, and cable management that a client wanted shipped intact.
    We had never worked with Craters and Freighters of Indianapolis before but contacted them, along with two other firms, to obtain quotes. The representatives of Craters and Frieghters not only provided a competitive price but were prompt in returning phone calls and pleasant to speak with. After committing to use their services, we found that the staff members who came to pack and remove the equipment were punctual, courteous, and professional.
    We will most assuredly use Craters and Freighters of Indianapolis the next time we have need for packing and shipping services to transport large, heavy, or oversized objects.

  • I visited Mr. Kilbourn and left the camera for him to check out. I  told him this was not urgent, but after I had not hear from him in 1.5 months I sent him an -email which I received no response. I then called about three times and was told the camera would be ready by the "end of the week". I eventually did get an e-mail informing me that he was waiting on another part
    I then was informed by e-mail again that the camera was ready to be picked up.
    Mr.Kilbourn replaced the main power circuit board, and the flash circuit board, and the camera works perfectly.
    He gave me an extra lithium battery at no extra charge which was very much appreciated.

    All in all, I am very satisfied with his work, and the price is very reasonable for the work he did. The only item I would like to see improved is communications, i.e. respond to a customer's inquiry by e-mail.

  • I own an IBM Selectric II typewriter that had not been used in several years and I wanted it professionally repaired so it would function again. I selected Indiana Typewriter Company because it has been in business for decades and it has "A" ratings on Angie's List.
    Mr. Crewes explained that he would have to completely degrease the entire mechanism in a solvent bath, then put back it together and oil it. He estimated what it would cost, and I agreed to let him do the work, telling him that I was in no hurry and he could take his time to do it right.
    Several weeks later I picked it up and took it home. Upon testing it I found out that the index lever would not automatically advance the paper, so I called Mr. Crewes, and he told me to bring the machine back. A few days later I picked it up again, and tested it again at home. This time I found that the the dual pitch lever was stuck, and that the vertical line on the card holder did not align with the next character to be typed (it was one character off to the right). I took the machine back to Mr. Crewes and he fixed it again free of charge.
    In total this took three return trips from Columbus, IN to Indianapolis which was not convenient for me and time consuming. I had expected that Mr. Crewes would completely test the machine after he degreased and asssembled it, to make sure everything worked properly. I was not able to test the machine in the store where he works with him being present, because by the time I got there (after 3 p.m. in the afternoons he had already left.
    I am hesitant to use him again for typewriter repairs, but I don't know what the other service providers for typewriters are like (there are obviously very few of them).

  • I called the company to arrange for a pick-up time that would work for them. They were able to accommodate me with less than 2 hours notice. The driver arrived at the pick-up location ahead of time, the cargo van was clean and large enough to accommodate my picture laying on the floor. I had the delivery van driver follow my car so I could pace him (rounding corners slowly). The driver was friendly and helped unloading the picture. I had him write out a receipt to document that I had payed (delivery driver should always issue a receipt on company stationery when customer pays with cash). Their charge was reasonable (less expensive than if I rented a cargo van from U-Haul or from Enterprise). Overall, a very positive experience with a small local company that specializes in all sorts of deliveries (from local to out-of-state)
