    CNC Construction and Remodeling
We were very happy with the quality of the flooring and the installation. It was exactly what we wanted. The crew was fantastic and took care of requests that we made. They truly wanted to make sure we were happy with the end product. We were, however, disappointed with the final cost compared to the initial estimate. There were multiple cost overruns during the installation that we were not made aware of, so we were quite surprised when asked for final payment. While Harold did give us some concessions after we expressed concerns on the overages, we feel the cost estimate before the project began could have more accurately reflected the total cost.

I was very pleased with CNC Construction , owner Harold Hughes was great to work with. I would definitely hire again. Harold and his crew were very professional . they were very respectful of me and my family. We had some delays waiting for materials supplied by others. I definitely think the money spent on this project was well spent and added much value to my home.

    Gerald's Wood Shed
When we moved into the house there was already hardwood flooring in the kitchen. We wanted to extend matching flooring into the family room, which was adjoining. The job was potentially tricky because the kitchen floorboards ran in the direction of the desired new floor, not perpendicular. Plus, there was a tricky diagonal transition. Gerald's installed a transition piece, and then installed the new floor so the boards aligned end-to-end perfectly (across the transition piece) with the boards in the existing kitchen floor.

OH MY GOSH!!!... This company is a total joke. We actually had them out twice!! How silly was that???... The first time was to get them to discuss a multi-room renovation project. We never heard back from them after they came and spent a lot of their time and mine time going over details. I called twice to follow up, left messages, but never heard from anyone again. The second experience was when a tree fell and hit our home. The insurance company gave us their name and said they were worth a try. We were hesitant to call as we didn't want an experience like the the previous with the duds who sucked at customer service. Well again, they come by, the same manager Steve W with a different guy, but who when asked about their previous visit, just played dumb and didn't really say why they dropped the ball on that one. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought they'd be on it this time. NOPE!! The guys never quoted again or called me or returned the messages I left. This a horrible customer service experience and being new to town would NEVER EVER recommend these guys for any projects! They could have had 2 jobs worth 10's of thousands of dollars, but obviously they don't need business that bad. Please don't call them as they'll just frustrate the heck out of you! Customer service is a huge deal when you're planning on spending any kind of money whether it be 5K or $150K... I was very disappointed and shocked with this outcome. F+++

    Carpets Plus Colortile
Awful. We were sold a wood that we were told was much harder than hickory (which we had already purchased) and the floor ended up being softer. CarpetsPlus did nothing but tell us we should have expected it and that the manufacturer would never honor the guarantee.

The whole process took two days. We were on a bit of a timeline because we wanted to get the floors done before we moved in. Bruce stuck to the timeline and the end product is unbelievable. Worth every penny!

    Sam Dennis Woodworking
Both floors required quite a bit of sanding, they were in horrible shape.  They were at a 1 or 2 and he brought them up to a 8 or 9 when finished.  Sam and his assistant worked very hard to prepare the floors by sanding, pulling nails/staples out.  They put down 3 coats over a few days and maintained a clean workspace throughout.  The finished product was terrific and I will have them back to take care of other hardwood floors.  Sam communicated well, was responsible, and took pride in his work.  Cost would have been less, but the floors required a lot of labor to prepare them for sanding and finishing.  The before and after pictures are amazing.

My insurance company told me to call who ever I wanted to have them come and clean up the water and that would be all I needed to do. I called serve pro and they came out and spent 20 minutes and took a moisture reading. They said they would get back to me about cleaning. They never did. My neighbor told me to call Harris services. When I called and told him what happened they said they would send the owner out right away. Glenn the owner came out within 20 minutes and took readings and said he didn?t think anyone really knew how big of a problem I had from all the water and that they were going to have to replace the ceiling and the flooring. They raised the temp in the house and had fans and dehumidifiers everywhere to dry everything out. It took 2 and a half weeks to dry it out completely before they could even start the demolition. They came in every day and took readings. They didn?t just come in and bring the equipment in and leave and come back a week later to do the work. They came every day to make sure the readings were where they wanted them. They had certain numbers they wanted and just kept going until it was right. They brought the demolition guys in and they picked a spot in the house and decided instead of putting my furniture in storage they would leave it in the house. They thought it would be safer that way. They moved all the furniture very carefully from one end to the other end of the house and wrapped anything they needed to. Then they started to take out all the cabinets in the house and they stored those in my garage. Then they started the demolition of the entire wood floor on the main level and half the ceiling in the basement. The wood floor was going to be hard to match. They ordered from a local store and it was 100% Indiana hard wood. They took their time with the floor and tried to blend it piece by piece so it looked great. They would ask if I liked it or not, so I could decide and we worked our way through the entire house. It was like a jigsaw puzzle and took a long time because they wanted it to look right. They took up all the baseboards and were able to save them. They painted them and put them back after they were done. They painted all the cabinets and put them back. There was not a scratch on any of my furniture. They always asked me what I liked. They were so conscious of the customer trying to make them comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. They were so wonderful. They did exactly what they said they would. They did all the dealings with the insurance companies and I didn?t have to deal with anything. Every one of his guys were so helpful and very kind to me and any friends I had over. All the guys help each other even if it is not their specialty. There was no smoking ever on the property and they made sure their shoes were off or covered any time they came in and out. They were just all super careful. I will use this company for any future work I have.

The floors are gorgeous and I am so glad we used this provider.
I will go into some details.  We consulted Angies list first and GWS was at the top of the list.  We were leaning toward calling him anyway because his business is close to where we live and several of our neighbors had used him either to supply the wood to do it themselves or had him lay floors and stairs, and they have been very complimentary of his work.  One friend said they had him "clean up the mess" the first company they hired had made.  One thing I liked was that he is involved in everything from picking out the trees (really!  when we built our house we had him out to see if he would buy some maples we had to remove - he didn't take them as they were not the right kind of maple), to making the plank flooring, installing, varnishing, making the transition thresholds etc.  I really do not know how his prices compare except that the friend mentioned above said they initially went with someone else because the other company was "a little cheaper" - they were sorry in the end.  I marked the price as "good" because I am really not sure.  It seemed good to us because of the work of removing the parquet and some issues with a lot of closets that are time consuming.  We chose 'natural oak' which has more variation in color and is a bit more rustic looking - but not cabin grade by any means.  It was a little cheaper but we would have chosen it anyway for the 'look'.
That being said this was still expensive for us and that made us nervous homeowners.  Gerald took it in stride and tried to reassure us when there seemed to be a problem.  In fact all problems were very minor and easily corrected, and the results were spectacular.  He was very responsive to any concerns on our part.  The head of the sanding and varnishing and finishing of our project, John, was just a great guy and very conscientious as well as skilled.  One thing I learned was having a floor installed this way (not pre-varnished planks) is that it is an art and the results have something of that finely crafted look.
I was helped by at least one negative comment in the reviews.  Expect dust.  It gets everywhere despite careful closing off of rooms.  It is very fine and gets in the furnace system and is spread all over. but especially on the floor where the work is done.  Because we expected this we bought really cheap plastic and covered everything before the sanding began and I am really glad we did.  When it was all over I had to even vacuum the walls.  I also ended up repainting - not because of any dust created by the project but because the walls looked so shabby compared to the beautiful floors.

No issues, everything went well.  Bruce met or exceeded all expectations.  Floors look great.  Pricing was competitive.  Bruce endorses using a water based poly coat rather than oil.  Now that the job is completed I believe water base was the right choice.  He can be difficult to get a hold of, however he always returned calls, and showed up on time.  Project was also completed on time.
