Michael was a great guy to work with. I'm a first-time home buyer and he really went the extra mile to walk me through the process above and beyond what he needed to do. It ended up that I couldn't use him as a lender due to some special circumstances with my builder (new construction buy), but every interaction I had with Michael and Angie was top-notch service. Also his rate was incredibly competitive, even with the national online lenders. If I buy another house in the Indy area I will for sure go with MJW.

    Ruoff Home Mortgage
Mortgage Man Dan is the MAN! He stayed on top of everything through the entire process. We got an amazing rate and beautiful home! I would recommend using Dan from Ruoff for all of your lending needs!!

    Salin Bank
Salin provided the best mortgage interest rate and closing costs package hassle free.  The other quotes we received came with a "we will match if you get a better rate" statement, but, in my opinion, that is not how you win business.  Total loan costs were about $1650 and no points charged for a great interest rate (not including home insurance, taxes, prepaid interest, PMI, etc).

Aside from the best overall cost, the communication was always very clear and concise and they always responded very promptly.  I highly recommend Salin Bank for mortgages - at the very least ask for a quote.

Kim was amazing from start to finish on the purchase of our new home! She was organized and responsive and would even oftentimes prompt me for something (I tend to get overwhelmingly busy between work and the toddler at home and things fall off my radar!) without being pestering but ensuring things got done so as to not cause any sort of unnecessary delay. As we expected, financing a home with a VA loan has additional hurdles to jump, and of course it was not all smooth sailing. Our VA appraisal came in shockingly low and everyone involved in the transaction thought the appraised value grossly unfair. Kim went above and beyond to help compile all the documentation for the appeal process to the VA, and low and behold, they reassessed the value once all arguments and comparables were given. This was not an easy process, however, and it cut us dangerously close to the closing date. As a result, our date had to be pushed back a few times and Kim went (once again!) above and beyond to make sure everyone was informed of the next steps and what was needed from all parties. She worked closely with our Realtor to make sure everyone was on the same page and attended the closing on our house despite it being after hours and not the original date.
I have recommended her to everyone I know who is in the home buying process, including my mom. Having a dad who was a mortgage broker for 20 years, I know a bit more than the average consumer about mortgage products and the process and Kim was beyond amazing, honest, straightforward and hardworking!

We worked with Michael Strawn on our home refinance. We were concerned with the current market that we may not be able to do so now (we were told just that by another company). He walked us through the process and helped us find  options that worked well for us. I felt he was working for us not for the "sale".  He was very professional, knowledgeable, organized, and friedly.I would not hesitate to do business with them again or recommend to a close friend. In the end we saved $130 a month on our mortgage and shortened the term to boot. Great help guys! Thanks

Mike is awesome!  I came into this process thinking I could refinance and get cash back.  He explained my options and why that probably would not be the best bet for me in our situation.  He explained what he could do in very plain English.  He didn't use any industry jargon to try and confuse you.  He provides you with your options and lets you make your own choice.  Mike was able to save me $200 a month off of my mortgage.  He even sent the title people to my job during my lunch break so I didn't have to drive back to his office to fill out the final pieces of paperwork.  I think this point says volumes about MJW's integrity.  I asked Mike for some financial planning information as well and he told that is not his specialty, but he was nice enough to recommend someone that can help me with that too.  Mike is the person to go to if you are looking for someone that will give you your options in plain English, then allow you to make an informed choice about what works best for your situation.

I recently worked with Susan Nemeth. She is absolutely the best!!! She is friendly and wonderful to work with. Susan has a wealth of knowledge about the lending process and she always answered my questions promptly making sure that I understood her explanations. My real estate agent, Amy McIntyre, from Indy Homes recommended her and I am so glad that she did! I was relocating from Missouri and she made long distance communication a breeze. Susan made my lending experience so easy and I am extremely grateful for all of her time and expertise. She more than exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend her!

My trusted realtor put Russ in touch with me.  My realtor and Russ are starting my first time home buyer journey with me.  It's an intimating process and Russ has helped me see it as less so. He is easy to talk to and I appreciate his thorough advice and his efforts to explain all of my options in a way that I understand.  He quickly completed the loan approval application for me and e-mailed me the loan option worksheets within three business days.  The loan worksheets have massive amounts of information and he jotted notes on the worksheets titling each option and highlighting the essential information to compare such as cash to borrow and mortgage insurance.  He called me a couple days later to review and explain the information and offer his suggestions about my best option based on how much I want to put down, my credit score and how long I intend to stay in my first home while getting the best rate.  I am still looking for the right place, but Russ follows up with me to check on the status of the house hunt and notify me with interest rate changes. I am glad to know he is looking out for me.

    Union Savings Bank
We were building a new home and had a construction loan during the build. Bob Cheek, formerly of Lincoln/First Merchants, was the originator of the construction loan. He moved to Union Savings Bank during the pendency of the construction loan and solicited from us the final mortage business. Union Savings offered good rates and low closing costs -- however, the lesson eventually learned is that you "get what you paid for." We had perfect credit, income well in excess of conventional rules of thumb for income to loan ratios, a long job history and provided all requested financial documents weeks in advance. Almost two months in advance, we knew when our loan could close and provided that date to Union Savings. Despite all of this, Union Savings was slow, disorganized, and failed to order or follow-up with the appraiser to make things timely. The biggest problem was that they failed to deliver on three specific closing dates - inexplicably. The capper was when they had us sit in at at title company for two hours before they confessed they didn't have their paperwork together to close that day. Turns out, they didn't have money wired to the title company either. They also tried to slip in a closing cost item from several earlier good faith estimates (not just the amount but the entire item) without explaination. Once pointed out, Cheek did cover that item. Also disconcerting was the attitude of Cheek's supervisor, Scott Johnson, who thought we should be appreciative of the "extra mile" that Union Savings was going for us -- by trying to get us a closing date! Union Savings delays also caused us significant problems with First Merchants relative to the construction loan pay-off dates. Union Savings did reduce their closing costs by a few hundred dollars in light of their problems, but I would have much rather have had a bank that simply delivered on its promises. First chance we get to refinance and be done with Union Savings, we will.

    FIRST WHOLESALE MORTGAGE CO
We were shopping for a mortgage for our brand new home and came across this company. Because they're a wholesaler (they've a list of lenders they can work with), they were able to pick and choose the best one to fit our needs. Bill Baker was our representative. He is honest (upfront with his fees, so no surprises later on) and very responsive (returning our phone calls/emails promptly), and we were very happy with his service. Most importantly, he was able to get us a very good rate. At closing, everybody (my realtor and the closing agent) was very surprised at the kind of rate we got in this changing market. We were very happy with Bill's work ethic, and we will definitely hire him again in the future.
