AUpdike Bathroom RemodelingOur goal was to update our bathroom by removing a never used garden tub and replacing it with a large, low maintenance shower. COMPLETE SUCCESS! Dan listened to our ideas, and used his design skills to fashion the type of shower we envisioned with angled walls, no door, and a low-profile entry with just the right amount of glass. Jeff was assigned to do the job from start to finish, and you seldom encounter an individual as talented and easy to get along with as him. He handled not only the demolition of the existing bathroom, but was able to do the required plumbing, electrical, dry wall, sub floor, and installing the cabinets and vanity top without the need for involvement of another contractor. The floor and wall tile was laid with precision, and Jeff made sure the work areas, both inside and outside were cleaned up at the end of each day. We commend Dan for his choice of employees, and would definitely recommend Updike Bathroom Remodeling to family and friends.- Audrey J.

APioneer KitchensThe Pioneer Team was amazing! They were very professional and punctual. The kitchen looks amazing and it only took 4 days and half the price of a complete kitchen remodel. They listened to us when we questioned something, they immediately fixed it the next day. I would highly recommend them. The pictures included are the before, with the oak cabinets changed to the white cabinets. Love Love. The detail in the crown molding and the detail under the bar area. Such a big change.- L S.

AAll Phase Group IncThe project went great just like our first one did with All Phase (finishing our basement). They remodeled our loft area into an art room/homework area for our 3 little kids. It is always such a pleasure working with Kathy, Dave, and their team. They stayed on schedule, updated us when people would be onsite, and kept us informed with regards to any changes that needed to be made. Their experience and knowledge truly showed during this remodel. Everyone that was involved on this project were trustworthy, reliable, personable and just overall really great to work with. We ran into one issue installing our built ins due to the way our wall was built/angled but Dave and his team seamlessly worked through the unexpected problem our house presented and was able to finish on time while exceeding our expectations. AAll Phase Group IncIt was a great experience from beginning to end. The demo was very quick and very clean. The team was very punctual, professional, and tidy. All aspects of the new bathroom was handled so seamlessly. The selection of new fixtures, colors, tile, cabinets and all was made very simple and painless. I never felt pressured or rushed to make decisions everything was done well in time for each aspect of the process. The crew was always open for questions or comments and every night left the area and surroundings so clean you would never know they were there. We have an absolutely beautiful Master Bath with wonderful accessibility. We also have a fantastic steam unit in our shower and a heated marble floor just to take perfection to another level. ALifestyle Group Residential RemodelingA great experience! We have used this group on 4 different projects to remodel two bathrooms and to build a year-round mostly window sunroom and a side porch. In addition- this team was able to do a repair on a dormer of our home that 4 other companies were unable to fix- preventing additional water damage (even though repairs are not normally in their scope of work). The crew was amazing and the communication of how the work was progressing was excellent. We would HIGHLY recommend using this company to design, execute and polish any home remodeling or building project. They were flexible in the work plan- allowing us to save some money by us pre-staining the wood for our cathedral ceiling. They were creative in helping us to find solutions so that we had the exact outcome we pictured and desired. Very hard working crew, friendly and polite. Cleaned up the work area as well. Again, we were not disappointed! The on-site team is a wonderful group of guys, and they take pride in their work, so I know we are getting quality results. For example. our home was built in the 50's and not always prepared for more modern updates. They also took care to stabilize the structure of the cabinets to safely hold the new countertops. They were able to help us from planning our budget, timeline, and making our vision come to life, down to the smallest detail. AJoe Schmo Electrical ServicesCompany called promptly and announced a date to come out for the estimate. The date was a bit further out, but they showed up as promised and provided a good price for the myriad of items we wanted completed. We had wiring for a ceiling light with light installation done in the living room, replaced all exterior lights at garage, front door and patio with motion sensor lighting and put motion sensor light in our hallway. Company also hung shop light and installed electrical outlet box in our shed. Work was completed in just a few hours and to our full satisfaction.- Carola C.

AGreg Spivey RemodelingI hired Spivey for my master bath remodel. It was pretty much a full redo – floors, closet, new tub/shower combo, tile, shelving, plumbing moved…. I love the results! They were not the cheapest estimate I received, but all three estimates were in the same ballpark, and their designer – Joe – really sold me on Spivey. His attention to detail, and willingness to work and rework the design was awesome. The project manager, Tim, did a great job coordinating with all their contractors and communicating with me. Their contractors did top notch work. I was especially impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the plumbers and tilers. I’ve included two before pics followed by two after pics. AEnergy Star were the fourth and last estimate that I received for work I needed done to turn my detached garage into a workshop. I had 110v electric run from the house on a 20 amp circuit. Two of the other estimates had wanted to dig new trenches, bury new conduit and run a sub-panel. One recommended getting all new service run to the garage, but that would have been an extra monthly service charge. Energy Star was able to use the existing conduit, which saved me a lot of money over the other estimates. Even if they hadn't been able to, their estimate with trenching included was still several hundred dollars lower than their competitors. Both gentlemen who came out where friendly, and finished up the work quickly. I would recommend Energy Star to anyone needing electrical work done right, cheap, and quickly.

I never got a phone call, the only missed call was from a number Verizon had marked as spam. DWow - really disappointed. I've hired Dowdy to do work in my house on previous occasions but based on my recent experience with their technician, I would not consider them again. Our bathroom ceiling fan stopped working, so I called Dowdy for an estimate to replace it and vent it properly through the roof. Right now it just vents directly into the attic, which is not up to code. The technician who came to my house immediately started criticizing our attic venting (we have a ridge vent at the top of the roof plus soffit intake vents), saying it was unhealthy and inadequate because we don't have "turtle" vents. We worked with a professional roofing company in 2006 when we installed a new roof - including the ridge vent - so I was a little skeptical of his assessment (plus, he's an electrician, not a home inspector or attic ventilation specialist). Overall his attitude was condescending and arrogant. At one point he even suggested that we don't need to have a bathroom fan at all because the bathroom already has a window. While that may be accurate (per Indiana code), that doesn't solve the problem of the fan not working. I'm not going to open the window when it's 22 degrees outside and I need to take a shower. Then he argued that if we're generating steam when we take showers, we are spending too long in the shower (which is really none of his business). And he proceeded to tell me and my husband how he takes short "military" showers that don't create steam in the bathroom but that his wife takes too long in the shower. Finally he suggested venting the bathroom fan through the soffit vent, which according to the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors is not recommended as that can lead to mold and mildew problems in the attic (the soffits are for intake, not venting to the outside.) At one point he said you should "never" vent through the roof. I'm not an attic ventilation professional, but that advice goes against my research. Overall I got the sense he just didn't really want to do the extra work involved in venting the bathroom fan properly. It was a frustrating conversation and it didn't have to be that way.
