    AAM'S SMALL ENGINE REPAIR
He determined that the connecting rod had broken. He clearly explained the situation to me and advised that it would be more expensive to repair the engine than to buy a new one. I decided to hold off on any action until I had researched best plan of action. I ended up buying an entirely new machine on sale at Menard's for about the cost of a new engine alone (uninstalled). I was very satisfied with AAM'S Small Engine Repair and I would recommend them to anyone.

Kipps Lawnmower Sales & Service Inc
It went very well. I knew the cost for the services upfront, and what was going to be done. They gave me an approximate date for completion, and they we a few days earlier than that. I would highly recommend Kipps. Professionals!!!

    Max's Mobile Small Engine
I used Max's for the first time this weekend and was absolutely thrilled.  My 17 year old Honda single stage snow blower was not starting.  Admittedly, I had not had it serviced EVER.  I called Ed [the owner's name] on a Friday afternoon, and he was able to come out the next day at 9 am, and he arrived punctually.  I was a little put off by the old VW vehicle he drove up in but any reservation went away when he started working on the machine.  He had it running in a few minutes and then started to look at other performance of the machine, lubricating parts as needed.  He changed the oil and spark plug.  He also found the scraper bar on the bottom of the blower was also in need of replacing.  This proved to be a arduous task for Ed.  I was surprised when he actually had the parts and appropriate tools with him, but then had to cut the bolts off because they were rusted.  When he put the new scraper in place, he also put some "goop" on the bolts to insure this might not happen again.  All in all, he not only did what I had asked but really did a bang up job of getting this older machine working in good order and he also giving me tips for treating the gasoline and how to properly store the machine during the summer.  His price seemed reasonable especially since I did not have bring the blower to him.  TERRIFIC.

    PAYNE SMALL ENGINE INC
I was looking for a tune-up for my 10-year old snowblower and didn't want to spend more than $50 or so since it's pretty old. I found Payne on Angie's List and Ken said he charges $65, plus parts. I brought it over to him and, once he looked it over, he determined the tune-up would help, but the paddles and other things on it were in need of help. He estimated it would cost $150-$200 to make it and quot;newand quot; again. There was no pressure, but he was very helpful in letting me know my options. I told him if he could do it for $150, I'd agree, but if were more than that, I probably wouldn't (seeing how a new one would probably cost $400-$500). He told me it would take about a week to do, which was fine, since we don't have any snow (yet). It took about 2 weeks for it to be done, but it seems to be fine. He kept the cost as quoted and looks like he rebuilt it (at least all of the major components). Ken is pretty and quot;down-to-businessand quot; on the phone and in emails, but very personable in person. He's a one-man show who works out of his garage. I'd recommend him for anyone needing lawn mower or snowblower service.

    Max's Mobile Small Engine
I was looking for riding lawnmower repair in the area and found great reviews for Max's. A week after working with no problems, my lawnmower wouldn't start. I spent parts of the following week trying to troubleshoot on my own and didn't make much progress, but I'm no expert.

I called Ed (Owner of Max's - there is evidently already Ed's Small Engine Repair in the area so he named the company for his Chihuahua Max) on Saturday afternoon and left a message. He called me back at 10:30 this morning, was at my house by 11:15 and had it ready to go by kickoff at noon. For a few dollars more than Sears would have charged me to come out and give an estimate (which can then be applied to any service you have done), Ed replaced the battery, replaced a fouled spark plug, cleaned the air filter guard, cleared debris interfering with a switch, cleaned things up a bit, topped off the oil, and talked to me about some (free) ideas for getting my snowblower ready for use and my mower ready for inactivity.

Ed was a patient, easy-going, all-around good guy who really knows what he's doing and will take the time to talk to you about anything you want to ask at a price that's more than fair.

QUANTZ SMALL ENGINE REPAIR SHOPPE INC
The gentleman who both picked up the equipment and delivered them back (no pick up fee due to a special) was courteous, prompt and knowledgeable. The owner was prompt in an estimate and explained things in detail. He offered alternatives for me to choose from. I opted to fix everything as it had been a long time since either machine had been serviced. I was very happy with the service and would recommend it to others. Our neighbor has already taken the phone number for servicing his own machines.

    AAM'S SMALL ENGINE REPAIR
Elwood arrived at my house at the specified time. Neither my lawn mower nor my snow blower would start. Elwood cleaned the fuel filters, changed the oil, and did a general cleanup/maintenance of both machines. This occurred in the fall of 2012 and both machines have been running fine ever since (thank goodness that the snow blower is working this winter).

I dropped off the power washer on a Saturday a.m. and it was ready one week later. Ken was able to diagnose the problem with the carburator and fix it without any problems. It is running much better now.

    AAM'S SMALL ENGINE REPAIR
I was told that he tuned it up and changed the oil. I have had issues with my mower, so I took it to another place and they said the oil was not changed and it was very dirty which caused the mower to not work anymore. It is only 3 years old, so I was very disappointed.
