    We had this company paint an apartment we rent. They met with us promptly after we called and quickly got us a professional looking quote. We asked to revise the quote and they did that quickly as well. We forgot to include painting the trim in one room and they called us to question that while they were working. I was glad they did. We added that to the job and the additional cost was minimal. The walls and ceilings needed a lot of repair of cracks and stains and they did an excellent job. The apartment looked great when they were finished. We had a couple of very minor issues and they immediately took care of them for us. We have already had them quote another job for us.

    We had used JustFixIt! for a few minor plumbing repairs in the past and thought they did a good job. But when we hired them to do a more significant project we had a completely different experience. We agreed with JustFixIt! to hire one of their workers for 5 full days, at their going labor rate. We wanted 3 rooms and a garage ceiling painted. We had to get on their waitlist for 6 weeks, but were assured by the office manager that one of their best workers would come to our house on Mon, July 1st and be there for 5 consecutive business days. I pointed out that we had overseas family members moving back in with us on July 11th so the work had to be completed by then. Not a problem, claimed JustFixIt! My wife and I proceeded to pack up all the books, pictures, and personal items, and moved the furniture toward the center of each room. We also purchased the wall and ceiling paint, so everying was ready to go for the painter, who was scheduled to arrive on Mon , July 1st. The painter didn���t show up until 11am on the first day, 9:30am the next, and 12 noon on the 3rd day. At this point the painting project was getting behind. There was no explanation given by the office manager as to why the painter was arriving late and not putting in full days. To make matters worse, his attention to detail was lacking (large nail holes had not been filled in before painting began), he didn���t clean up carefully (the garage floor had splotches of dry wall mud on it and the living room had drywall dust on shelves), and was taking smoking breaks every 30-45 mins. On the 4th day the painter never showed up, and we received no call from the office manager as to where he was. On the 5th and final day, when he was supposed to finish the job, he failed to show up by 12:30pm so we called the office to say we were ending our relationship with him and JustFixIt! (No one answered the office phone, so I left a voicemail, but did not even get a returned call). The company offered no apology nor made any offer to send someone in his place so the 3 rooms could be painted before our guests arrived. Incredibly, we were offered a 10% discount for future work. Now we have a houseful of people with 3 rooms that can���t be used because they are packed up and covered in tarps. To add insult to injury, we had to find a new painting contractor and wait another few weeks until he is available to finish the job. Once we terminated JustFixIt!, my wife and I started getting repeated calls on our cell phones asking us to send in payment for the partial work completed and the materials purchased. All of a sudden, they were interested in communicating with the customer. Because we didn���t return their calls immediately (visiting family in Michigan), the office manager escalated it to one of the owners. He called my cell and left an insinuating voicemail ��� asking we were avoiding them and ���shirking payment��� for the amount due. I found it quite insulting for him to say that when we had never even received an invoice that showed the actual hours the painter had worked and itemized the materials he had purchased. Once I received the detailed invoice, and confirmed it agreed with my record of the actual hours worked, I promptly paid the amount owed ��� even though JustFixIt! failed to perform the services they promised. The office manager even offered to have someone come to the house to pick up the check. I only wished they offered that kind of attention and service to my painting job.

    We had a great experience working with Cipri and his team. Very professional, and they did great quality work. We needed the whole house painted, including doors and trim and everything was in rough shape to begin with. Once the team finished, everything looked good as new.     They arrived a half an hour early the first day and started fifteens before their start time every day after that in which I thought was great. Keith was very professional and well spoken that was a plus for me. the work was done faster then I was expecting. When it came down to it though the work spoke for its self!! DEFENTILY will hire again if need be

    Eichele and Valene Remodeling
    Ed Eichele has stated to us that he stands by his work and that he will do whatever it takes, that they are accommodating, open and transparent. Beware, Ed knows all the right things to say, just don���t believe any of it. Following are the issues we had with Eichele & Valene Remodeling: ��� Needed to hire a second contractor to rip out and replace our newly installed tile floor and takeover our project. ��� Had to remove and replace wood trim ��� Paint quality grade with option of 2 brands stipulated in our contract was not followed. An untrue story was given as to why a cheaper grade had to be used. ��� Promises of a building permit and an inspector appointment never materialized (3 months). After blaming the City of Wheaton building department for an unexplainable lack of action it turned out that the city never received payment for the permit we paid Eichele & Valene to execute as part of the contract. ��� Our walls were painted and floor installed before the plumbing and electrical work had been started let alone the drywall being finished. Our second crew took advantage of the floor being exposed to perform plumbing and electrical work by removing floor boards vs. access through the basement ceiling as was planned by John Valene. ��� Lack of a consistent work schedule; multiple no-shows without warning. ��� They still owe us money per their own records. Details: Tile ��� Through research of manufacturer���s websites, the Tile Council of North America, and consulting with a member of National Tile Contractors Association, we were able to confirm that the tile floor was laid improperly and needed to be 100% replaced. Some of the installation related issues: Our warranty for the subfloor and the tile was void due to the use of cheap drywall screws used to fasten the Durock subfloor rather than the required ���1-1/4" USG Durock��� Brand Tile Backer Screws for wood framing (or equivalent) or 1-1/2" hot-dipped galvanized roofing nails���. As a result of improper installation, there was so much unevenness and lippage all over the floor that we were tripping while walking on the tile. Nothing sat squarely or level on it. The lippage of many tiles was the same thickness as a quarter or thicker. (See photos) Trim ��� We upgraded our family room from carpet to tile. It may not be obvious to all homeowners that the baseboards are installed prior to installing carpet, thus touching the floor that the padding and carpet are rolled over. For tile, the baseboards should be installed on top of tile, which put the baseboards noticeably higher on the wall. Since the baseboards were never removed prior to installing the tile the end result was a family room with oddly short baseboards as they did not sit on the tile where it should be if installed correctly. Furthermore, the staining and varnishing of the shoes was dreadful. Application of conditioner, stain and urethane was performed outside in 40 degree weather all within 6 hours. Per the Sherwin Williams website one needs to, ���Let dry completely (usually 24 hours)���. In addition, the site states that one should; ���Apply stain only at the proper temperature. For most stains, 70 degrees Fahrenheit is the optimum, with the safety range from 50 to 90 Fahrenheit.��� The worst part about this baseboard fiasco was the calculated deception exercised where the eating area meets the family room. They removed baseboard from the eating area where it was installed at the correct height for tile to rip ����� off of the bottom in order to match the height of the baseboard of the family room which was at the correct height for carpet. (See photo) Paint ��� We believe that painting before the drywall, plumbing, and electrical work were finished was a tactic employed to give us the illusion of progress after weeks of no work being performed. It was an obvious ploy to distract us from the fact that no progress had been made in weeks. We have since had to repaint all surfaces but 3 walls. Windows ��� There is an entire fiasco with regard to undersized windows being installed. The additional framing required to install windows that were too small led to the threat of additional ���Change Order��� costs. One might question why someone would install the wrong size windows. Menards remade the incorrectly sized windows as ordering the wrong size windows was their mistake. Eichele & Valene told us that we owed them the cost of a second installation even though they should have stopped when they realized that the windows were the wrong size. (See photo)
