It took over two months to replace a wood deck with concrete and put op a railing--very lousy service. They missed scheduled appointments, cancelled appts. at the last minute, and told us what we expected was not what we ordered (length of railing). Not to mention they left a dumpster in our driveway for 2 weeks. They could not complete the electrical, told us we would need to hire an electrician to complete the work. I usually had to call them and Matt returned the call with some excuse or another he could not find the product we wanted any where-we had to tell him where to find it--product was not in stock and had to be ordered - we had just been to the store and product was in stock in ample supply always some excuse. We have yet to get the electric completed.

    Jaw Builders Inc
Jason is a friendly professional.  From the initial meeting all the way through to the end of the project he was in constant contact, allowed us to make changes and was on top of all the work being done.  The project was on time and a little under budget.  We love the end result and will use Jaw Builders again when we need a good builder.

In addition to being a great builder, Jason has shown himself to be someone we can count on.  We had a small issue (unrelated to his project) when I was out of town and my wife called him.  He showed up at our door and took care of the immediate issue and gave us recommendations to get it fixed. His commitment to his customers goes above and beyond anything you typically find today.

We couldn't have been more satisfied.  Dennis Hanzel provided exactly what we asked for, and all work was done with the highest construction standards. His crew was courteous and professional.  No problems have ever surfaced with the construction and the deck is still looking good after almost 30 years.  Highly recommended.

Brad is an energetic guy! He worked through the subfloor in a couple of hours, and built the stairs in a couple more hours.
The worksmanship was good. He put up a sister joint on one of the floor joints in the kitchen, and provided some tips for what to tell the tile guys in a couple of weeks.
He's a good guy to talk to and listens to what you have to say. The stairs are solidly built, and a railing was provided and sited well. The work area was left clean.
Overall, I'd be happy to work with Brad again.

    Awe Struck, Inc.
This company ought to add this to their list of specialties: RE-SCHEDULING
I bought a Groupon for a power washing of my 2-story house. My husband and I both juggled our schedules so one of us could be home when they arrived. They called to re-schedule me THREE TIMES! The third time they called to re-schedule was right in the window of time they were supposed to come do the work! I cancelled them and asked Groupon for credit! Groupon Buyers--Beware!

TUFF SHED INC - North Chicago
They delivered and installed the shed in one day. Great job, very professional.
They installed shingles that we provided that match our new roof on our house, and gave us a credit for the "included" shingles.
We are very happy with both the work done and the product provided. It's a little pricey compared to the competition, but the quality seems worth it - particularly for something that should last 25+ years.
The surprising thing was how many options are offered to customize the shed. Our old shed did not have a loft so we weren't sure we needed one. We got it any way...What a BIG difference the loft makes in freeing up space to move around inside the shed! All the big and light stuff goes up there, not piled in your way. I'm 6' tall and have no problem walking under the loft without bending over.
If we should ever need another shed I would certainly go with Tuff Shed!

    Collins Construction Group Inc.
Dan Collins is the best contractor ever, ideal to work with. He's very responsive (calls back almost immediately, emails are responded to just as quickly) and he has top-notch people working for him. While the project took longer than anticipated, and it's just finishing up - we may have another week at the most for the pocket door installation and finishing touches - the end result is breathtaking.
His cabinet maker is top-notch (I'll write a review about him as well) - Kenny Hochstetler of Yoder's in Sullivan, IL), we recommend very highly his electrician, his tile setters (we will be reviewing them as well) - everyone who works for Dan does quality work.
I would recommend Dan Collins and his Construction Group without reservation. If everyone had the same experience with a contractor as I had, there'd be no complaints about incomplete jobs, shoddy workmanship, etc. He and his company are top-notch.  I had checked his references, and everyone had the same glowing comments, and I will definitely be among them.
Call Dan - he'll call you right back, will give you a good price, and will do the job you want and exceed your expectations.

Let me start with the positive. The woman who answers the phone is nice and helpful. Rich Armbrust is a nice man who runs a very successful business. The man who arrived to do the work was professional, knowledgeable, and on time. Here's the problem: Selsors. Selsors is the subcontractor hired by Armbrust to work the backhoe. Before work began I was fully informed that our yard would need to be reseeded/sodded and that several landscaping plants would need to be replaced at our cost. Agreed. What I wasn't expecting was: dirt spread across the entirety of our front yard, our huge oak tree dinged up from the backhoe, and a 2-foot deep trench in our front yard, and our two year old sidewalk now has gash in it (see pictures). When the work was finished everything was fairly level. We had a major snow that evening so everything was covered for about a week. Rain and warmer temps melted the snow and revealed the aforementioned ditch running from our house to the street. I spoke to Rich Armbrust about my concerns and he told me my dirt is such that this collapse of the soil is to be expected. He also promised to stop by the next day to take a look at our yard. My husband and I made sure one of us were at the house that entire day. Rich called me at 4:30 p.m. to report that he had stopped by the house. What??? Why didn't he come to door? Well, obviously to avoid dealing with customers who are less than thrilled with the trench running through their yard. During our phone call he explained again about our dirt and basically made me understand the I should be grateful to them for all the trouble they went through to install our sewer lines. He did offer to send a bobcat in a month (trench may get deeper as dirt continues to settle!) to push any remaining dirt (that hasn't already washed away from rain and melting snow) back into said trench.  I was underwhelmed with this offer as the dirt that still remains across our yard is spread pretty thin AND I certainly don't want the Selsors guy driving that bobcat. I have since called to ask for that to be done for me and am still waiting for a call back - hence the "F" in responsiveness.
I have paid the balance for the work done so I have no leverage in getting any further help from this company.
Bottom line: Armbrust is a reputable company and certainly not the cheapest option in town. I expected excellent work. I am disappointed by the sloppy work done by the backhoe operator and the response to my complaint. $200 to cover the cost of top soil and a general "I'm sorry for the sloppy work of my backhoe operator" could have turned this negative review into a positive one.

    Jaw Builders Inc
The experience was first rate. Jason Werr, owner of Jaw Builders, Inc., was thoughtful, knowledgeable, and responsive during all phases of the project, beginning with the design phase wherein he produced helpful images of remodel options, into the construction phase as he managed all facets of implementation of services, labor, and materials, through to the finish when we reviewed the work performed and discussed our satisfaction with the process. Jaw Builders was forthright with cost estimates and was diligent in completing the project within the expected timeframe. We appreciated Jason's ability to analyze various options during the planning and construction phases and to determine the best course of action, always while encouraging our input. And, gosh darn it, Jason is a really nice guy. While we worked with Jason on a relatively small remodel project, we have had the pleasure of visiting and inspecting his full home construction projects. Jaw Builders is an award-winning builder of engergy effiicent homes. Moreover, the craftmanship and attention to detail are impressive. Above all, there is a sense that Jason A. Werr - the JAW of JAW Builders - takes great pride in his work and knows that his homes are a reflection of his professionalism. In short, we were wholly satisfied with our experience and would look forward to working with Jason and Jaw Builders again, whether on another remodel project or with new home construction.
