Fence Company reviews in Western Springs

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • The work was done promptly and on time as scheduled. The communication with Flores Fence was excellent. Raul kept us informed of the timing of the installation and followed up after the installation. No one else has ever followed up after fence installation to see that we were satisfied and that everything worked (and we have had 3 different fence companies install or repair different parts of our fencing in the past 2 years). This was a plus.

  • Anything up to installation part was good. During the actual installation one section of the fence (roughly 30 pickets long, about 10-15% of overall length of job) was not done properly, in the sense that I ended up with pickets that were 5-6 inches over the ground - big enough hole for our dogs to go under, which was not acceptable. To make matters worse, when I asked about it to the installation crew, their response was "we knew about this section and it was going to be like this, and I told about it to my manager Junior in the office when I went to pick up the pickets in the morning and asked for 30 pickets that were slightly longer. He told us to do it with the shorter pickets, and have the customer call the company if there are any complaints" when I made that call to sales person Luke, he said he'll get to the bottom of it and have it fixed. Then he told me to get that fixed, I needed to pay extra $250! And he added that he was not interested about hearing what was said between installation crew and manager. "He was just trying to offer a solution" I had to quote from our contract stating that installation has to follow the ground, and as such they did not complete the job. then he asked me to talk to the office. When I called the office, I talked to Manny, owner. He was more responsive, and told me that he'll get to the bottom of it and respond to me the next day. And he did. But they asked me to pay $90 extra without the labor. (which includes the cost of the scrapped 4' pickets. If I were contacted on the day of installation changing 30 pickets to slightly higher length would've been $30 extra material cost, which I would have gladly accepted to pay). At that point, I am sick and tired of dealing with this, and just want things to get done. So I sent one final email explaining why I should be charged $30 instead of paying for installation mistake. They came back and fixed that section. And charged me $90 regardless. Bottom line - I understand sh*t happens. And trust me, I'm not writing this review for the dollar amount involved, I simply have a problem with being put in a position and being nickeled and dimed on a job that I'm already paying $4,000. And based on the "have the customer call back if there is a problem" comment for a known issue before it even occured, and the way it was handled afterwards (remember until I got to Manny, I was being asked for $250), I'm pretty sure this is systematic way the office is adding to their bottom line. And as such, I cannot recommend this company to any of my neighbors or friends or the Angie's List community. For reference, including my email communications. You come to your own conclusions if you want to transact with this business. ** below, it’s actual correspondence between me and A&M Fence (either the sales guy or the office). I took out email addresses and phone numbers.> From: Arda Date: July 30, 2016 at 10:08:16 PM CDT To: A & M Fence Corp (office) Thanks for looking into it and coming back with a reasonable offer to fix the problem as the business owner Manny. Even though I don't fully agree that I should be paying for the scrapped short pickets(roughly $60) and should be paying for only the difference(roughly $30) as I did not cause the problem and I was not consulted at any point by Junior(who told Richard to use these pickets and have the customer call the office if there are complaints), I just want to get this over with at this point. Please go ahead and send the guys on Monday, and bill me the difference that you think I should be responsible for, whether it's the $30 or the $90, and I will pay it. Based on your handling of the situation so far and willingness to get to the bottom of the issue, I trust your judgement. Thanks again. . Arda From: A & M Fence Corp (office) Date: July 30, 2016 at 3:19:56 PM CDT Hi Arda Here's what I can do, I can send the crew back on Monday to remove and install 30 longer pickets to cover the gap in question. The cost of the pickets is $90.00 which I would like to collect from you. No cost for labor at all. If you have any conflict with this offer please let me know Once again I apologize for the inconvenience Have a great weekend Manny From: Arda (customer) Sent: Friday, July 29, 2016 12:34 PM Our contract also specifically states straight top following ground, with the arch top finish. As such, since there is a big gap from the ground in that section, work as agreed has not been complete. This issue was known BEFORE the installation started. Therefore the problem is caused by the improper installation, as such I should not be asked to cover additional costs. Look, I am very happy with the overall work done on the fence. However, there is a problem with the job, that is not caused by me (I am not the one who’s measuring how the posts and pickets should be located, cut, and installed), and it does not make sense for you to ask me to pay more for the job to be done right. If A&M Fence is now willing to complete the job properly without me paying more than what we agreed on per our contract, please let me know as soon as possible. From: A&M Fence – Luke Sent: Friday, July 29, 2016 12:15 PM Arda, Our contract was for a 4 ft fence. We are happy to do the additional work but have to charge our costs of $250. Otherwise, we are happy to nail 1x6s at the bottom to prevent your dog from escaping. Im really not interested in what was said, just offering a solution. Let us know which option you want us to install? Thanks Luke Weber ----- Reply message ----- From: Arda (customer) Date: Fri, Jul 29, 2016 12:07 PM Also, please double check the following piece of information given to me by the installation crew. When there is multiple parties involved, I would like to first make sure everybody is on the same page. Installation crew member Richard verbally informed me that he knew that the height of the pickets would not be sufficient and requested 30 pickets that are longer to properly account for the height difference on that section on the morning of the installation from his installation manager. Installation manager (I believe his name is Junior, but don’t remember exactly) said told him, and I quote based on my memory of our conversation, “No, do the job with these pickets, and have the customer call the company if there is a complaint”. Thanks. From: A&M Fence Sales - Luke Sent: Friday, July 29, 2016 10:20 AM Hey Arda, Thanks for your business, our install manager has this on his schedule for next week. We dont know exactly when with all the rain but will take care of it. The additional material and mostly labor will be $250 extra. Please confirm you want to proceed with this option? Otherwise we can just install some horizontal 1x4s for free. Thanks, Luke ----- Reply message ----- From: Arda (customer) Date: Fri, Jul 29, 2016 10:07 AM Hi Luke, Let me know if and when you can get the installation crew to fix the section with the space issue later this week (today or over the weekend) or early next week. Thanks. **

  • During the selling phase, they couldn't have been more attentive. Follow up phone calls, punctual appointments.
During the build they were fine.
Afterward, getting them to return calls and make necessary adjustments was like moving a mountain. The existing gate didn't need to be replaced, but it wasn't hung correctly after the fence was built. They refuse to give an appointment - they call when they're on the way and if you're not home, good luck getting them to call back or return.
Now, we found a section of fence that wasn't nailed /secured to the post. All less than 6 months after the fence was installed.
For $5000, the attitude you get is SUPER disappointing.
Evidently, they don't understand the power of social media.

  • Sergio is a very smart young business person.  He was right on time for his estimate.  His price was the best.  He and his crew worked very hard.  He got the building permit.  They tore down and disposed of the existing fence. They installed the new  fence.

Sergio was excellent to work with and communicated with me during the project.

  • Craig Davis did an excellent job of explaining what to look for in a fence quote - how posts are set, quality of material and length/breadth of warranty. Peerless offered a better warranty than others and set their posts in concrete rather than dry setting like some of their competitors. Craig gave us a quote that was slightly higher than two others but we felt it was worth it. When we asked to apply the Angieslist 5% off coupon he said he already gave us a discount of 10%, even though it wasn't noted on the quote. We called the office and we're told that the coupon would be applied to our final invoice. When the invoice came the 5% off still wasn't honored but we called the office and they made it right.

  • I had at least three other companies out, and they seemed to be the most professional. Their price was reasonable, matched against three other estimates. Their professional was top notch. When I looked at Angie's List, I saw they got good marks. The job itself was just great.

  • Roger Freeman responded immediately to our request for a quote.  He is knowledgeable and professional.  We thought the quote for removal of old fencing and installation of a new composite fence was reasonable.  The installation crew was timely, careful, accurate and did a total clean up after the installation.  Our new fence is lovely and will last for a very long time.
We could not be happier with Roger Freeman and our new fence!  Thank you Roger!

  • Peerless installed 60 feet of aluminum fencing in our back yard about two years ago, and we were so happy with them that we didn't get other quotes for this recent job.  Craig came out to give us a quote, gave us options for fence types, and scheduled the fence installation within several weeks.  We have very difficult neighbors and were concerned that they would complain about the fence.  But Craig took care of getting the permit for us and assured us that he would not have an issue getting the permit approved and the fence installed.  On the day the Peerless crew arrived, they had been made aware of potential issues from the neighbors.  When the neighbor complained about plants she would lose (she had planted them on our property), the fence crew even dug them up before they started work so that she could transplant them elsewhere.  Since they had to stand on the neighbors' property to put up the fence, they were very careful not to harm the neighbors' plants. The gates look great, and so does the fence.  We're very happy with the quality and professionalism provided by Peerless, and would highly recommend them.

  • Richard came out as scheduled, on-time, to give us an estimate. He quickly reviewed and emailed back the estimate as promised the following day. Crew showed up on=time and did an excellent job and were very professional: replaced two posts, top rail, and replaced damaged fencing. Seems like a younger company trying to establish themselves and we would certainly use them again.

  • It was a very good experience!  They used steel posts during the installation which is great because the posts will never rot or need to be replaced.  Aside from this, they were on time, professional, and did excellent work.
