Countertop Installation reviews in Waukegan

    Avanti Stone
These guys are great! We purchased our stone slabs independently, and they met us at the warehouse to inspect the slabs to be sure that we were OK with the defects and coloring of the slabs. They cut the countertops so a stone indentation was used for the backsplash (added character) but not the work surface, where it might have been in the way. They were prompt and friendly. Quick work and great communication. Even though they are based in Bensenville, they came to Waukegan to do my kitchen. I am very pleased with this company.

We had many issues with This company, Superior Remodeling, The owner refused to address them and was only looking to collect extra payment after the services were completed and without giving a written or verbal quote. This was for a Bathroom and Kitchen Remodel. The first time we were without water it was supposed to be for 1 day and it was 4 days. We had to get a hotel room for 2 of those days, we came home because that was the day we were supposed to get it back and it was until 4pm on a Saturday before it was back on. We did not get the deep sink working until later, because you were going to pull apart the laundry room and run the pipes through the wall. There is floor damage were the floor was check by the deep sink. Plumbers problems, they did not test the drain They tried to charge us extra for having their people clear and test the drain. Floor in shower stall, did the not draining good for 2 days hurt the new floor The drain out had plastic bags that were put in it blocking the drain that caused the clog. The bathroom was not done first as we discussed. The plumbers did not hook up the shower or test the plumbing. We had to wait a week for plumbers to come back out and then had to call Cindy and Chaz to get anyone to clear the drain. The cabinet under the sink had puddles and looked warped The garage door opener had to be repaired after they cleared out the construction supplies. The tree in the front had branches pulled down and needs to cut back now Marty had to keep leaving the job site for hours at a time doing other things for other people They were late to start most days They used our tools, ladders, stools, water, damaged our shovels, without replacing or offering to replace them. We had to get the shower curtain rod and medicine cabinet. Tony did not tell us he would be unavailable the week of the plumbing problems. They left the doors and windows open when they left. We took Wed off without pay because there was supposed to a lot of work done that day in the bathroom and it took until after noon before she was told no one would be coming over. That was the for second day we were going to be without water. We had someone of our family on site during the entire process and they never mentioned any extra items that had to be done or charges until after the work was done, they went about 23% over the original estimate, we had to talk to a lawyer when they threatened to put a lien on our house.

    New Stone Design
The measurement was scheduled for a Saturday morning, the sales person promptly and presented the options included in the deal. There were quite a few color options included in the deal and our counters fit the deal nearly perfectly. He made a great suggestion on adding granite on the divider between our kitchen and family room which was an excellent suggestion, the existing and worn wood wood have looked so out of place and we had actually not thought about this and wouldn't have. I am so glad we added that piece along with extending the island about a foot. I believe they told us 2-3 weeks for installation but it was actually more like a week, which was very exciting. The team arrived and completed the work including removal of the old counters, installing the new sink and counters and reconnecting the plumbing. We are extremely satisfied with the way the counters look and especially the additional piece and are happy with the work the New Stone Design Team did for us start to finish

    Golden Stone
Golden Stone assured me there would be no seams in the granite, but once it was installed, there was a seam in the counter.
Golden Stone told me they always have a seam where indicated. I just don't like it because they said there would be no seams, even if it were impossible not to have any. Otherwise, the countertop looks nice.
2 years later, my tenants called me to say the undermount sink fell down and became disattached from the counter. I called Golden Stone who had changed their phone number (which I got from Angies List...Yeah). After several unreturned calls, I kept calling them and finally they said they did not guarantee their work beyond a year!!!
Finally, when I said I would be willing to pay them to reinstall the sink, they referred me to someone who did not do that type of work--that I would need a granite fabricator (someone like Golden Stone) to repair it. Next, they would not answer my calls.
I contacted a reputable granite fabricator and they came out swiftly and professionally (I will be listing them later). They told me the sink had been installed incorrectly, saying the brackets holding the sink under the granite were put on backwards, and the eopoxy was put on poorly and/or of poor quality. When they were done reinstalling the sink, they assured me I would be able to place tons in the sink and it would not go anywhere.
Golden Stone does not guarantee their work after a year. If the sink that they install caves in, they will not come out to reinstall it. They are only concerned about doing as many granite countertop jobs as they can get in within a day, not about your kitchen sink! They did not tell me I'd need plumbers and electricians to finish the job of reconnecting my garbage disposal, dishwasher, etc. They just leave it!

    Absolute Plumbing
They were out here within a couple hours after calling them and within 5 hours of my call the job was done - sump was replaced and the lower floor of my home was in pretty good shape. There promptness really stood out.  They discarded some damaged rugs without my knowledge which I was initially upset about, but after talking to them the reimbursed me for the rugs.

    Inspired Living Spaces
We love it, love it!  Our brand new kitchen was designed by Jay Lovett! I was tired of looking at our outdated and inefficient kitchen. I had searched in books and magazines for ideas. When it was time to look for a contractor my husband and I had a cabinet maker look at our kitchen. He was so busy and then we decided we didn't want our kitchen torn up for months. Then we had a bid from another contractor, but it was way over our budget. We didn't know whom to trust. A kitchen project is such a huge expense and we wanted everything to be ?A? plus, so we decided to subscribe to Angie's List. We wanted the best contractor locally and found Jay Lovett, President of Inspired Living Spaces. We talked on the phone briefly. We invited him into our home so we could get to know one another. One thing that struck me, I noticed how attentively he was listening to us. He made a good first impression. We decided to hire him.
Then, he needed some money down for a kitchen design. He said that we needed a theme. I wanted medium color maple cabinets with simple lines. He mentioned that maple doesn't take a stain too well. Then, he showed us a sample of quarter sawn oak. We had seen that wood in furniture and it looked so appealing. We already knew we wanted porcelain floor tiles and quartz counter tops. We told him what the top of the budget would be. We communicated through email for the design. Jay wanted to move the refrigerator to a new location. At first, we weren't too keen on that suggestion. That meant we would have to buy a cabinet depth refrigerator. We are so pleased that our refrigerator was moved to a new location. There is now a larger work area on the counter near the sink than previously. The work space is much more efficient. It is a pleasure to work in it now. All of our appliances were in black. He gently suggested stainless. We had to think about that for a while. Then, we thought ?we are paying someone to design our kitchen let's listen to him.? It took a few weeks for the kitchen design, because it was hard for me to make up my mind about one cabinet placement. Jay was very patient with us. He told us when the cabinets would arrive and the date was very close. After the cabinets arrived, only then would the demolition materialize. That is how Jay operates. When the time came for the demolition, the kitchen was sealed off from the rest of the house. At the end of every day a cleanup of the area was done.

The workers were on time and very polite, very diligent, and very precise in their work. Jay would be here several times a day to check on the progress of the project. He would always be in communication with us by phone or e-mail too. When the cabinets arrived, there was damage to some of the outer cartons and two of the doors were slightly damaged by the UPS delivery driver's fork lift. Jay contacted the vendor immediately; consequently, the vendor could manufacture replacements. Then, as the remaining cabinets were being installed, I noticed some manufacturing errors -- the quarter sawn design was on the wrong side on a few of the doors. I pointed it out to Jay and he immediately notified the vendor a second time, and the corrected material was sent over within days. Even with these delays, the project stayed right on schedule. Right before Christmas was a busy time for vendors. Along, every step of the way Jay kept in close communication with us. As the project moved along, we decided on all new stainless steel appliances. We are so happy that we listened to his advice. The kitchen would have been too dark and ordinary with black appliances. The target date of completion was near Christmas. We had a functioning kitchen a few days before Christmas.

After the holiday there were a few things that needed a final touch. When the kitchen was completed, Jay didn't like how one open, 3-shelf, corner wood unit looked, so he told us that he was going to redesign it. We made the final payment on the kitchen, although he didn't like the unit, we were confident he would follow through, which of course he did. He also replaced and installed the latest design and function in 3 cabinet door hinges. The new hinge design prevents a cabinet door from opening completely, preventing it from hitting a wall.  I didn?t request this change, but it was thoughtful and generous of Jay. Now, I don?t have to worry about banging a cabinet door into a wall. There was no charge because it was already in my budget.

In summary, we are just so thrilled with our professionally designed kitchen. We have hired Jay for future remodeling, because he and his crew are superior contractors. He is so passionate about his work, trustworthy, and very detail oriented. I highly recommend Jay with Inspired Living Spaces.

    J K Complete Remodeling & Construction Inc
We received 6 estimates from various contractors (4 were from Angie's list). We were most impressed with Jack's knowledge, his reviews on Angie's list & his estimate, which was near the low end of the 6 estimates. Jack and all of his crews did a very good job. We had the kitchen totally remodeled & 2 bathrooms gutted & remodeled. Living room, dining room, halls & den were all painted with new baseboards throughout. New hardwood floors were put in the kitchen & dining room. Mike & his crew did them to our specifications & they are lovely. Tile in the halls & both bathrooms looks beautiful due to Marian's expert work. New lighting, new electrical outlets, new fuse box, and assorted final detail work was handled by Paul, who was very knowledgeable. During the entire project, if we had concerns or certain things needed to be changed, Jack was always available & got back to us in a very timely manner. All of his people are very trustworthy, and we had no qualms about leaving for the day. We would highly recommend JK Remodeling. We expect to use them again on a future project we are planning.
