Randy gave us a good quote on short notice and got the job done when he said he would. Beyond simple wall painting, they removed wallpaper border, painted over paneling and wallpaper paneling, fixed holes and painted 2 built in cabinets inside and out. Randy came back twice to do touch up of areas that he noticed and to finish up trim that was drying slowly due to the weather. It all turned out great. So well that the house was under contract 2 days after listing.

The entire process took about 6 weeks, with a few delays and some minor errors and misunderstandings. However, on the whole I am quite pleased with Joe's work and definitely would recommend him. He is highly skilled, patient, good-natured, and conscientious. Whatever snags may develop, he is committed to resolve them to the client's eventual satisfaction. This process was a learning experience for me because I never had employed a contractor for any major project before. The few issues over which I did experience some frustration were as much my own fault as Joe's, because I was too eager to start the work before we had clarified and written out all of the finer points of our contract in sufficient detail. If you want to just leap in as I did with little more than a handshake, Joe is probably the best guy you could find to treat you fairly, but still you would be wise to plan things out and specify all expectations and obligations more thoroughly than I did in this case. Bottom line: I DO recommend Joe highly and probably will engage his services again myself. His assistants are also good, friendly, courteous and skillful guys. Thank you Joe, Sean, and Jason!

It is sometimes hard to have people in your house for several days when you are home but Randy and his crew were very easy to have around. Extremely friendly and tolerated that I had a dog I had to let in and out, which could have been really aggravating for some. As far as the work, we are very pleased. Randy's crew was not happy with the two coats of paint that we'd agreed on for all the trim and doors, they stuck around and did a 3rd coat to get that bright white finish. They look very nice. The walls look great and we have absolutely no complaints. They cleaned up after themselves every day and left my house ready to go! The price was extremely reasonable too.

Randy was great.   Came out one day for the estimate and started the job the very next day.  Showed up on time and worked all day until it was done.   Did a wonderful job and even cleaned up when he was done.   Very professional .   Would definately call him again.    Nice work.

    Don Carvey Painting
Don and his crew are the best!!! Excellent communication. He explained what the plan was for each day and completed it. They arrived early, or on time everyday and cleaned up each day before they left. The quality of work is top notch and he and his crew are very friendly. I would highly recommend Don Carvey Painting.

    Don Carvey Painting
Don and his two men showed up on time and got right to work. They removed everything from the walls, fixed nail holes, sanded trim and covered everything. At the end of the first day, they cleaned up and put all of their tools neatly awsy allowing us access to the kitchen. They finished at noon on the second day and cleaned up and left everything as neat and clean as when they showed up. My wife was so impressed (not easy) that she is already talking about painting more rooms.

    JMJ Building

John was great to speak with on the phone and came out to review the project. We were very comfortable with him from the start. He's very honest and responds quickly to calls/emails. When we started the project we expected some delay due to the large amount of reconstruction in the area (due to the November 2013 tornado). As a result, John worked along side his guys to get our job completed timely. About 3-4 weeks I think since we also decided last minute that we wanted a urinal installed and we had to wait for the plumber to be able to get out to the house. I think this is standard for him to help out but either way, we were pleased that it was moving along. He let us know how it was progressing every step of the way and we trusted him with a key to our house to remodel while we were at work.

From just having the tornado affect our area and finding myself under the stairs with our three small kids, I had the idea of putting a door and window under the stairs to create a small play room for the boys so if we ever had to go under there again, it would be less intimidating for them and distract them for the time. John ran with the idea! He put in a large window (the boys have called it their fish tank as we have put up Nemo decals) and John also took it upon himself to drywall and finish off under the stairs to make it a much safer and real play 'room'.

The only hiccup we have had is that our shower was installed and it is leaking. John did mention to us that this could happen. We know nothing about showers so I don't know enough about the type of shower we picked or how that could affect leaking. Anyway, he prepared us for this, caulked the crap out of it and said he would be willing to come back for a year to help us if it does leak. Unfortunately, it has started leaking and we have contacted him for assistance. Again, I do not fully understand this issue since I am dumb to remodeling but my husband will work with John and we are not concerned but felt it was worth mentioning.

We are very happy with JMJ and would use them in the future. My sister will probably be using them coming up when she decides to finish her basement too. As a side note, my husband's family is a lot of contractors from the Chicago area and (of course) they wanted to take a look at everything that was done. They have complimented how nice it was finished off and how well it transitions into our unfinished portion of the basement.

    Precise Repair & Remodel
We had so much damage that it took Scott and his crew almost 3 solid weeks to complete the repairs. They arrived promptly every day and immediately went to work. We appreciated that they covered our flooring and furniture with drop cloths, and at the end of each work day, they cleaned up the work area. We initially did not notice a lot of the damage, and though we didn't want to know we had more damage than thought, Precise and crew, took the time to show us, and explain how the damage could be repaired. Now, the inside of our house looks great!

Went great. Always timely, trustworthy and very clean. R. Marit painting used the spare key and I never questioned the security of the home. Very clean, couldn't even tell they were there except for the GREAT PAINTING work left behind. Highly recommended!

    Vance Remodeling and Restoration
My wife and I had been wanting to remodel our kitchen for the past few years but finally decided to do it this year. We paid for a subscription to Angie's List because it was very important to get a good contractor as we were spending a lot of our hard earned money and wanted someone who was very knowledgeable and experienced. I had Jim come out and quote the job and we decided based on his reviews to go with him. Overall, we are VERY HAPPY and LOVE our new kitchen. I decided to do the demo of the old kitchen and install the new tile floor and then have Jim pick up from there. Jim was very professional and performed his job well. Our start was delayed because of unforeseen circumstances on his end, but we was just a bit disappointing having our project delayed a little. Jim was a very hard worker and subcontracted out the electrical and plaster work to his and quot;Expertsand quot;, who did a great job also. If I had to be nitpicky and say something, it would be that he could have been a tad more thorough on the very fine details. As the homeowner, during construction you tend notice every little thing and try not to sweat the very minor details...but when you are paying a lot of money to have someone perform work in your house, we expected them to work on our house like it was their house. My recommendation to him would be to make sure to spend a few minutes each day checking over things and making sure they are and quot;finishedand quot; for the day. BUT, with that being said, I made a checklist of the minor things during the button up phase of the project and Jim did an EXCELLENT job completing all the items and making sure we were happy. As far as price, I don't have a way to compare him to others because we didn't get any other quotes. I felt his quote was very fair, so that is why we chose him. I will definitely consider using him again in the future and would recommended him to my friends and family.
If you are considering a large remodel job and do not want to tackle it yourself, you can choose Jim Vance with confidence. He does quality work and always listens to and addresses your concerns. Thanks Jim!
