    Priority Appliance Repair Inc
I called 10 am to try to make an appointment, said I'd get a call back later within 1 hour to set up a time for today. Two hours later I finally got a call and was told he might not be able to come today. I wasn't at home, thought I was getting a same day appointment so I didn't bring my schedule. I called back and left the technician a message, And as of 3 hours later still had not gotten a call back. Called the main number where I was told the owner would give me a call back. Never called. The technician didn't call until the next day when I was back at work. Was hoping to get this taken care of right away but now again am back to square one looking for a company who will at least call me back.

Someone showed up within two hour service window. There is a $59 fee for estimate but that is subtracted from any work performed. The quoted $320 to repair Oven Safety valve on my Whirlpool oven. I believe this is a bit high. The tech said he should have one in van but didn't so he had to come back. He said he would do the cleaning then too. I had the time booked to get work done and nothing got fixed or cleaned. I canceled them coming back. I received a call next day to see if there was a problem or an issue that caused me to cancel. He said repair cost is average and part is $150 dollars (ordered myself a OEM replacement part on ebay for $102). I asked if it was a difficult repair and he said it was 45 minutes. So I did the math and the service guy makes $3.77 a minute, or $226 an hour. He responded saying that there is administrative overhead and drive time. The dryer cleaning would be an additional $150.

    Park Ridge Appliance Service
I called Park Ridge Appliances, and spoke with Nick.  I explained the problem I was having with my Kitchen Aid double oven.  He candidly told me that I was on the far north side of his location radius and that he would be willing to make the trip up here depending on the problem (i.e. if he thought it was fixable).  He had just fixed the same problem with another client and he was not optimistic the problem could be fixed, or even that a replacement part was still available.  With that said, he still took the time and was kind enough to walk me through steps on how to open the oven door that was locked shut so I could get my serial number.  He looked up the part and confirmed the part was no longer available.  Nick was patient, seemed very knowledgeable and lent me advice on who I could call locally to try to fix my problem or replace my oven.  I wish he lived closer because I would call on him.  I appreciate his patience walking me through the steps to help solve my problem.  Nice guy!

    Command Service Center Inc
This was a two-part job.  Originally, our 2-year-old Honeywell humidifier (installed by Command) wasn't working properly.  It turned out to be more than a filter replacement issue.  There was some confusion as to what was wrong and what part was needed and the ordered part did not fit.  Command felt responsible for the delay in getting the unit working and did not charge us for the service calls (the parts were still under warranty).  They made the situation right which is the sign of a good operation.  As for the dryer, Jeff diagnosed the problem, oiled the part buying us some time and then replaced the part a week later.  Everything now works.  Command remains our go-to HVAC company and we will now use them for appliance matters as well.

Toptec Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical, Inc.
We bought our townhouse 2 months ago and the microwave above the cooktop was installed so that the cook fumes were being recirculated back into the kitchen. The quote person Joe, who I believe is the owner of the company, gave us a quote of $1800 to replace the old microwave and install a 6" duct through the cabinets and the roof of our unit, put a roof vent and a backdraft preventer. It was going to be major work given the location of our cooktop. Before the work was done my HOA asked for some documentation which Joe's team did their best to accommodate which i appreciate. he had said he's done lots of work in my development in the past so he knew something of what would be needed.
It was a pleasant surprise when the old microwave was removed, that duct work was already in place from the original construction negating the need for the new 6" ductwork. So the only thing that needed to be done was replace the old microwave - no cabinet cutting for the duct, no new holes in the roof or drywall, no materials needed, etc. When the new work scope was understood that morning, the installers called the owner and informed me that they would make a change to the quote. They finished in 3 hours start to finish. Joe had estimated 2 people for near 8 hours to complete the original job. The installers did a great job. Side story - they did not have the correct diamond cutting wheel or grinder to cut 1/2" of backsplash stone so the new microwave would fit against the wall so l loaned them mine.
The problem - when they finished the quote was reduced from $1800 to $1400. But 2 guys for 3 hours to install a new microwave for $1400 is much more than the actual work performed. Upon hearing about the new quote I called TopTec home office who would not put me through to Joe to discuss the situation at the time so I requested that Joe call me at his convenience. I was willing to pay a premium since the work scope changed so dramatically but with no response I felt I needed to pay the installers the $1400 and they said 'Joe would make it right'- they seemed a bit embarrassed by the whole thing. It has been two weeks now and no call from Joe. If I asked for a quote to install a new microwave I am sure it would not have been anything close to $1400.

    J&S Plumbing, Inc.
I noticed a water leak from my garbage disposal yesterday.  They arranged a plumber to come today.  He replaced the disposal and double checked that they were no other leaks.  He cleaned the area well with his supplies; not using any of my supplies.  He explained all the details of the installation and how to use the disposal and the unlocking tool should it jam.  He also explained routine maintenance to have it work optimally.  He was very polite and worked quickly.  I also got the discount as I was an Angie's list member.

    Lakeland Appliance Service
I've used Dave for over 10 years - he's always fixed whatever issue I was having with the washer & dryer quickly & competently, at a reasonable price.  This time my washer wasn't automatically spinning - he gave me the part # to order it from Amazon because it was cheaper than he could get it, saving me about $50.  My dryer was drying oddly - sometimes fine, sometimes not at all, sometimes so-so.  He replaced a few parts and a belt which was frayed.  I haven't had to call him often, but when I have, he's been great!

Don L. came to the house the next day, checked the range over and yep; it was the circuit board. Don came back on Thursday with a new circuit board. The oven works. Circuit boards do not come cheap so I was expecting the cost.

    Local Home Appliance
We were really impressed with Local Home Appliance. The owner (Matt) was very responsive and friendly on the phone. He arrived within the window of time he provided. He was very engaging from a social perspective which just reinforces one's confidence in another in general. He explained exactly how the oven works, what went wrong, what he was replacing (with a part he keeps in stock) and was able to answer general questions about the brand of oven.
We will definitely call him in the future should we need assistance.

    Mike's Appliance Repair Inc
Our dishwasher was leaking water all over the kitchen floor the day before we were leaving for a vacation, so we desperately needed someone to come out to fix it that same day.  We had used Mike's Appliance Repair for previous work and had been very pleased with his service, so we called him again.  We were very happy that Mike, the owner, was able to oblige and come out that same day to address the issue.  He fixed the leak so that it wouldn't leak water all over the kitchen floor while were away.  Mike also fixed our garbage disposal as well.  We will definitely be calling Mike again if we need any appliances fixed in the future, as he is a very nice guy and does great work.  Highly recommend Mike's Appliance Repair.
