Was quoted a price by "Cal" of $260 and we'll go from there depending on circumstances. The two installers show up 30 minutes early and were very polite. Worked for a few minutes trying to get old unit out and then the received a phone call. Installer went outside and then came in and informed me price would be $500 per hour since there were two of them. Told him that was NOT what I was told. He went and made another phone call and came back with a price of $250 per hour (said there was a misunderstanding and it was $250 per hour because there were two of them on the job). Since they were already there and I wanted the job done, I told them to go ahead. The plug receptacle also needed to be changed out, because the old plug type was a 6-30P and the new AC unit is a 6-15P. That was an additional charge of $80 for them to provide the plug and change it. When the plug issue was being addressed, I specifically asked if there would be a problem with the circuit breaker designated for the AC since it was a double-pull 30 amp. The worker asked my question to whoever was on the other end of the phone and then told me there was no problem with continuing to use the 30 amp circuit breaker because it was more than heavy enough to handle the new 15 amp AC unit. I have now found out that answer is emphatically wrong. Reading the installation directions it states: Before you install or relocate this unit, be sure that the amperage rating of the circuit breaker or time delay fuse does not exceed the amp rating listed in Table 1. Table 1 shows the circuit rating for that AC unit should be 15 amps. The job took two hours ($500) and only after they had it all installed (including the foam seal and insulation, pouring water into the drip plan to see if it would come out, etc.), then they plugged it in -- and it didn't work. While it was not the fault of Merts that the unit did not work, they might have decided to plug it in and try it before they installed it. While the $580 I paid would have been a fair price had the unit worked and the advice I was given correct, what I ended up with was an installed AC unit that doesn't work, a plug receptacle that does and totally wrong information concerning the circuit breaker, which I also confirmed with my local fire department. They had also offered to reinstall the trim work around the AC, but for $250 an hour, I can certainly do that myself. I also decided the other work I spoke with them about should be tabled while I move on to someone else to install the replacement unit and who has a better underwriting of wiring and electricity.

The salesman was punctual and very informative. Made great recommendations to suit our needs. The installers were amazing--worked straight through for 11 hours to finish in one day. They also had to install a new furnace as ours was the original one (66 years old!). Cleaned up after themselves so that you couldn't even tell that they had been here. I would not hesitate to hire them again and would be happy to recommend them to anyone who asked. The price was also $1300 less than the other quote I received.

The 4 man team was professional, knowledgeable, and even CHEERFUL. All work was explained in detail. Care was taken to protect our house. Most impressive was the speed at which they worked. This huge task was finished in a surprisingly short amount of time. Thanks!

This company told me that they did not want to work on Saturdays. I responded that the only day I was home was Saturday and they originally said that they would do it. Then the date I asked for was not convenient for them, therefore, I told them Jan 6, 2018, they did not respond to the request or turn up on the day. It is now February and I have still not heard from them.

We have them come every year, we have a check every year. Whenever they come they do a great job. We do the annual contract. If you are handicapped, they come out right away. They are like Johnny on the spot. We had the air conditioning go out and they were John handy, because we cant go without air conditioning. We do have to pay when they come. Its a contract. You basically get your heating and cooling done at a cheaper price I think. If you have a problem then you are first on the list. If youre handicap then youre really first on the list. I think they come on the weekend too. I think their price is average. They are really good. Theyve been there forever.

One of WORST companies I ever dealt with. Had a new A/C and Air handler to replace one didn't work and leaking, The new was not install right very shoddy work, did not fill the system with refrigerant, run for 48 hours never cool the house, they had to come on fill system. Was not install the right, was never level, so it leak the water into the drip pan and full with water and leak in on to the ceiling then all over place. Had come out and remove and reinstall. DON'T believe unit has very work right? 2 1/2 years later unit wouldn't work Call for repairs Came out said unit need refrigerant, check it for leaks and filled system said he did it but house never got cool I believe the it was never done and said there was no charge sounded kind of funny but I was happy ? Call next day, came back out check it out, know said there is leak at the condenser would need to back to shop to get new one if they had one and be install later that day and it be under the warranty, never got a call waited never got a call. Had to call them to find that had get the Lenox Rep out didn't know when Had to wait 5 days for rep they give a new condenser but I would have to pay for all work, shipping, refrigerant. I got mad and ask to have the owner or the Manager to call me and by the repair HE WOULD NOT TELL THEM. I was in service business for 40 years If I said to Customer I would FIRED on spot. Try calls to them to talk And THEY WILL NOT RETURN CALLS OR TALK TO ME. I don't know they stay in business. I can't be the only one to been this bad.

Great experience, called at 9:30am, Shawn call right back and set the arrival time between 10:30 and 11:30 he called 15 minutes before he got to the house 11:35. Very courteous, prompt, knowledgeable, professional. He replaced the bad igniter and cleaned the furnace. I can't say enough on how happy I am with his service. I will use Porterhouse again and will recommend them. A+++++++

Our old radiant heating system (house was built in 1948) went out right in the middle of a extreme cold snap. I was in a panic to get a new system in place and started asking friends and relatives for a good HVAC guy. Mark was refereed to me by a friend, and I could not be happier with the service he provided. Having radiant heat meant I used my attic space (for 40 years) for nothing but storage, and there was literally no room left up there. I had to clear all of that out so he could install all the duct work and he was quite understanding and helpful in what was a very stressful situation. Never having a forced air system before Mark explained how a furnace works, the best places to put the registers, how it would differ from our old heating system and appropriately sized the unit for our home. He even helped with the tax credits available for installing a new efficient system. Once I cleared out all the the clutter in the attic, it did not take Mark and his assistant long to get the new system in place. He was upfront about his pricing, service fees and there were no 'surprises'. He and his assistant respected my home and made sure they did not leave a mess. Once the job was done Mark went over the importance of changing the filter out on a monthly basis. This helps to keep the furnace working at it's best, extend it's life and keep my energy costs down. We picked a 95% efficiency furnace (Rheem) which has a 10 year warranty on parts and 5 year warranty on labor. He also included first year of maintenance free and gave me a 6 month supply of filters. I also had him install a new 40 gallon water heater (Bradford White) and everything with that went just as well. You want someone honest, upfront, uses quality equipment and gets the job done. Call him.

    Lees furnace service
We needed our old furnace repaired that wasn't putting out heat. Our house was built in 1953, so this is an old radiant heat setup with some really old parts. We had been getting the run around by other companies. Everyone said that our furnace was too old and tried to sell us on completely replacing it instead of repairing it. Lees Furnace Service came out and after diagnosing, told us that some parts had broken off inside the old motor. They were some very small parts and the problem was initially hard to find, but he made a few phone calls, took some pictures, hung in there and eventually figured it out. He informed us that because our furnace was so old that it would be difficult to find the parts and they would have to be special order. After a few days he managed to find the parts and came back out to repair our furnace. Yes, we finally had heat! He even completely cleaned out our furnace and though he gave us options for replacing our entire furnace, unlike the other guys he wasnt the least bit pushy about it. Thank you Lee, see you in the next three months for that new furnace replacement!
