    Absolute Concrete
If you are needing concrete work in the Springfield IL area, RUN, DON'T WALK to the phone and call Absolute Concrete....I've had quite of bit of work done on my house over the years and I have to say these folks are the BEST people I've dealt with. With alot of heavy rain, I knew the project would probably be delayed, but Mike kept me informed and when they finally got to start, it was impressive to watch. The entire job had to be done with hauling everything out and in (no direct street access). Always friendly, VERY professional, price was amazing and exactly what I expected. A++++++. I am including before and after pictures.

    Stark Concrete Co

Stark Concrete is an outstanding cement contractor.

A year ago I tried to get my driveway done with another contractor & after signing a contract, the contractor kept putting me off & wouldn't return my phone calls.  Finally, after several month I cancelled the contract.

This year, I received 3 new bids for the driveway.  Stark Concrete was one of the 3.  From our first meeting I liked the owner, Jim Stark.  He is honest, and he show up when he says he is coming.  The first time I met with him my wife wasn't able to be at the meeting so he came back a second time and went over everything with her a** well.  She had the same feeling about him that I did.  We looked at all the bids & also reviewed Angie's List and BBB reports.  Overall, everything looked good.  There were some minor complaints but I spoke to Jim about them & he responded to my satisfaction.  When all the bids were in and reviewed we chose Stark Concrete even though their bid was not the least expensive.  We just felt, all things being equal, it would be worth a few more dollars to do business with Jim.  And, we were right.

I explained to Jim what had happened the previous year and that I was a bit gun shy about being promised that a project would be done at a certain time & he reassured me that he would be at our home within 5 weeks of agreeing to the job unless weather impacted his projects that were currently in the queue.  So, we agreed to go forward with the project.

As it turned out, rain and weather did have some impact on when Jim could get to our job but, and this is important, he kept me informed by e-mail so I knew what was going on.  Also, I noticed that there was a $100 discount for Angie's List subscribers so I asked Jim about honoring that.  With no hesitation he deducted the $100 from my final bill.

Jim arrived in week 6 or so after we agreed to do business with him.  And in 3 days of hard work in very hot and humid conditions he and his excellent crew had the job done!  I was very impressed with the level of professionalism I noted in every one of his crew members.  They were professional, proficient, detail oriented, and worked well together.  And the product was outstanding.  They found several problems along the way that could not have been anticipated before the old concrete was removed but, they kept me informed all along the way, briefed me on the options available, and then I was able to make informed choices regarding what I wanted done.  They could not have been any more professional.

What can I say?  I found these guys in the yellow pages, but luckily, I followed my hunch and it turned out great.  If you want a concrete job done right, then for my money, there's no one else in the Springfield, IL area that I would want to work with other than Stark Concrete.

    * Out of the companies I contacted he was the only one who came out to provide an estimate. They were on time for the estimate appointment and they did what they said they would do. They were very detailed in their estimate.

    MICHEL CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION, INC
From the start, Michel Concrete Construction exceeded my expectations. Mike Brown was extremely professional, always on time for every meeting, he went above and beyond and helped us with several of the conceptual ideas that led to an amazing design. We had a complicated jobsite and they came fully prepared to deal with all of the existing conditions and provided ongoing support during the unusually cold winter to help protect the new foundations - really proactive in helping out in every way they could. Couldn't imagine it going any better!! Thanks to Mike and Michel Concrete and Zach our site foreman!

    ACE CONTRACTING OF ILLINOIS
We have a peculiar situation since our house is about 40 years old and has never been connected to water or sewer while most of the other houses on our street are. We recently received notice of the need to connect. This would not be such an unusual event except for two details. First of all, when the sewer line was laid down the street, the owners of our house decided not to connect and no tap was made available for our home/lot. Therefore we had to connect to the main sewer line 15 feet below ground level. The second detail is the sewer easement where our connection was to be made (in the neighbor's yard, no less - thank goodness we have wonderful neighbors!!) passed through areas heavily congested with service lines (electric, cable, gas, water, and every other service available).
We received a few bids which were a high price because of the deep digging, and all the bids were in the same price range. However, once the first layout of service line flags where put in the yard by JULIE, most contractors with whom we were dealing indicated they had no interest in trying to work around all those service lines, probably due to their lack of appropriate equipment. After receiving a recommendation of using ACE Contracting, I contacted the company and spoke with Jack Davis. I'm not sure if Jack is the owner of the company, but he is certainly the manager of the operation.
Jack met me at our home, took one look at the easement area with all the service line flags, and said to his employee who would be doing the actual digging, "Here's how we'll do it." He didn't pause to judge whether it was something they could handle or not; because of his knowledge and experience he knew immediately how they would run the line and connect to the sewer main. He told me they'd mobilize the following Monday and begin digging on Tuesday. When I got home from work that Monday their equipment was in place, and early Tuesday morning two of his employees (great work Rusty and Bruce!!) began digging the trench from the house toward to the street and the easement area where the connection would be made. I won't provide the exact timeline of each component of this project, but by Thursday afternoon the complete trench and the 15' hole were dug, the iron cage in place in the hole, and everything ready for the sewer connection and Sanitary District inspection the next morning. Of course the front yard and that of our neighbor's looked like a battle zone, but after returning home from work on Friday, the job was done and the lawn almost flat again.
On the following Monday morning (today as I write this review) the invoice was sent via email and exactly matches the project proposal that Jack and I signed before he began the job. There were no hidden costs or fees. I will be happy to send the payment today.
I highly recommend this company since Jack and his employees are very nice to work with and professional and friendly people. Earlier I mentioned Rusty and Bruce, the two gentlemen who did the actual digging and excavating. Both of them are very friendly and happy to take extra time to explain things to me and answer my questions. They were meticulous in their work and cleaning the area (to the extent to which the word CLEAN can apply to such a project).

    Slab-jackers Construction
The technicians who provided the service were on time...in fact they were there early. They went right to work and they explained what they were doing as I watched . The process itself is very cool. They got the porch back to the correct angle and they also raised a step up for me that was very steep. Everything went exactly as it was supposed to and when finished the guys cleaned up everything and filled the holes that were needed to perform the service. The patches in the holes settled a little bit over the weekend so I called the owner Chuck and he said it would be taken care of that day and it was! It is such a pleasure to deal with a company that does what it says it is going to do at the price quoted. I highly recommend Slabjackers!

    LANGHEIM CONCRETE SVC INC
Replaced driveway, sidewalk from driveway to house, and public sidewalk between driveway sections. I designed the driveway myself using 6 inch slab over 2 to four inches of compacted stone. Concrete strength of 4,000 psi and #4 reinforcement bars at 12 inch centers each way. Sawed joints in the driveway at 10 foot centers and tooled joints in sidewalks. The contractor did everything I specified.

    DALE MOSCARDELLI CONCRETE SVC
Mr. Moscardelli was the lowest of the 4 bids we acquired. Considering his reviews on Angie's List were good, we chose his company to remove the existing patio which measured 10 1/2 ' by 12' with one step. The patio is located at a moderately priced property.
Mr. Moscardelli and his crew of 2 arrived promptly on agreed upon day and started working for the 5 hours it took them until completion. We regret that we did not explicitly convey the way we wanted the patio result to look and we only intermittently stopped by to oversee. The patio's surface is not as smooth as we would like and the color is a little splotchy. Mr. Moscardelli said it would take 30 days to "bleach out and cure" but I checked it at 28 days and the color does not have the uniformity we wanted.
Overall, the new patio looks very strong and the edges look sharp.

    Diversified Construction
He work is sloppy, he was gone more that he was there working, when he tore up the old concrete on the driveway, patio, and front porch, he tore the heck out of our siding, on 3 sides of our house.  The concrete has noticeable waves, that you can see with the naked eye!
