Garage Door Repair And Installation reviews in Skokie

    Garage Door Corp
Fantastic! Brad appreciated the urgency of our situation (could not get cars out of garage!). Found the main problem (needed new springs) and also found a minute, small problem (literally a nail that wasn't hammered all the way in, that was catching) to make it run smoothly. He is very generous with advice in advance--won't come and charge you if it's something easy (like making sure sensors are aligned). He is absolutely our "go-to" guy for anything we need with the garage door.

Mike couldn't have done a better job for the money I paid him. I got few quotes from other places but nothing beat Mid Coast Home Services. When I got home from work, the job was complete and I couldn't be more satisfied.

Perfectly. All it needed was lubrication. The pleasant young service man was very competent and explained about the noise I was hearing. He was here an hour ahead of the time I was told, which was fine.

The work was great. All moving parts of the door and opener were lubricated. All of the metal rollers were replaced with plastic covered metal rollers that are very quiet. I got an OK on the overall condition of the door and opener. Also, the tech explained how the main spring worked and showed that my springs were getting old and why. I'll be replacing them in the next couple years with North Shore Garage Doors.

Everything went well. Work arrangements were made two days after I purchased the deal. Two technicians were on time, and in 1 1/2 hours I had a new garage door opener in place and working smoothly. The workers were friendly, polite and professional. In the future, would definitely use, and recommend A Absolute Co.

    Chicago Metro Garage Doors
I called because Chicago Metro Garage Doors got great reviews on AL and my experience was consistent with this. David answered the phone every time I called and was polite, responsive and followed through with everything he said. Originally he sent Victor for a service call who was very patient and professional. He explained all of my options and was not pushy. I decided to replace the door and opener and Miguel did it the following day! He also was professional and did a great job and I am very happy with the result. He set the remote in my car and the keypad for me and we went through a demo before he left so I have no questions. The installation was today so barring any future surprises I would recommend Chicago Metro Garage Doors highly!

Diamond Garage Door Repair & Service Inc
I called and left voicemail in the afternoon and was called back within a half hour.  Scheduled an appointment for the next morning and he showed up within the half hour window given. The problem was that the garage door opener had been attached to a piece of wood that had been nailed to the brick wall above the garage door and that piece of wood had ripped free.
It was clear that he knew his stuff because he immediately noticed a number of details: the opener itself was labelled as 2004 (even though it was sold to me and installed by another company in 2014!); a piece of the wood garage door had been cut out to make room for some part of a new spring mechanism; the previous installer of the opener had put one of the screws through the wood right into electrical conduit that went to the light outside the garage (which we haven't used for years due to being on a strange timer system that we never really figured out, so we would not have noticed if the opener installation caused the light to stop working); the man unit was attached to the roof with a bracket that could allow for installation offset from the center to avoid the front attachment issue with the electrical conduit.
He set right to work: securely installing a piece of plywood for attachment at the front of the garage to the right of the conduit and moved the opener over. He also added a bracket to the garage door so that the opener was not attached only at a single point at the top. When I heard the test opening and closing of the opener, I was amazed at how much quieter it was because it had been very noisy since that opener was installed. The reason it was quieter is that he replaced the top pair of rollers which had been worn out. Then he noticed that the ends of the rubber weather strip at the bottom of the door were being held up by duck tape. I sheepishly admitted that although I had bought a replacement weather strip back in the summer, that I had not gotten around to installing it and so I had taped it up when it started to fall off. So he got a couple of nails from his truck and nailed the ends up. I was relieved that he didn't even suggest selling and installing a new weather strip since I was planning to either do it myself or hire have a handyman do it later along with some other miscellaneous jobs.
He mentioned that the garage door itself was 60 years old---it must have a date somewhere on it that he saw. I remember that more than a decade ago when the roller track was rusting out that another garage door company tried to sell us on replacing the nice heavy wood sectional garage door which was in good shape with some cheap metal one. I am so happy that I found a garage door company that is honest and competent and will fix a door or opener instead of pushing an expensive sale of something that you don't actually need.

I contacted them through Angie's List and it was easy to set up an appointment. They were on time (within the four-hour window I had been given. They quickly assessed the problem and completed the repair within an hour's time. The guys were polite and explained everything clearly. The cost seemed like a lot, but we didn't get any other estimates so it might have been what anyone else would have charged to do the work. They provide a 2 year warranty, which I appreciated.

I had previously purchased a deal from a different company that didn't work out. I purchased this deal to replace the other one, and they contacted me within an hour and they came out the very next day. I was very pleased with their service.

    Garage Door Specialists, Inc.
It was okay. There were no additional charges beyond the big deal price. He was very gruff and I don't know if he changed anything. I didn't notice a difference in the garage door, to be honest. In fact, it started shaking a little bit more after he touched it. I don't know what he did because I was also a little distracted because I was getting the delivery of a fridge or a washing machine or something. He claimed he had done something but I didn't quite see what he did, if he did anything at all, to be honest. He was very gruff.
