    4Ever Remodeling
4Ever Remodeling did a phenomenal job. Their designer, Magda, is fantastic, creative and resourceful. She listened to what we wanted and continued to revise based on our feedback utilizing a 3D visual program. The demolition and construction went very well with excellent skilled workers in Martin and Ceazar. Additionally, our home is located in Village that has a very meticulous and overly bureaucratic Building Inspection Department and Damien and the team skillfully worked with the Village to ensure the project was up to code. They are not cheap but as the saying goes you get what you pay for. I would recomend them to anyone in need of a top notch remodel.

When we were looking for a contractor, Chris offered to show us the work he had done at his own house, which was very impressive. He then proposed the job, and the price was almost 25% less than another contractor had quoted. We had Chris remodel our kitchen, including opening the walls adding an island, removing the soffit and matching the hardwood floor to the entire first floor. We had the living and dining rooms painted, new trim, marble on entrance way removed, even painting the valances on the large windows to match the theme. We are completely satisfied with the work, his flexibility and the price. He even followed up adjusting the cabinet doors afterwards and adding an outlet we wanted and a motion sensor, no labor charge! We couldn't be happier with the whole project.

Joe and his team did a great job on our bathroom remodel project. It was a total gut rehab job, which included replacing some of our old galvanized steel plumbing. It looks beautiful now! Everyone arrived timely, and they were professional. Pricing was fair - what we were expecting to pay. Communication with Joe was great - I've already recommended him to several other people.

    4Ever Remodeling
4Ever Remodeling did an absolutely fantastic job on our kitchen! We had a full gut rehab, including knocking out a wall to make our space open and flow into the living area. The level of detail they paid into making our kitchen perfect was amazing. They worked extremely hard and even our neighbors commented on their professionalism and work ethic. We also decided to hire Magda (designer) and it was the best decision! Magda went above and beyond to help us figure out the details of making our kitchen beautiful, coordinating all parts of the job, and maintaining regular communication. We highly recommend 4Ever Remodeling!

    ABSOLUTE CONSTRUCTION
We went to Home Depot for our kitchen remodeling. They referred us to Absolute Construction for the installation. We have told Home Depot how unhappy we are with this referral. On the first day of the project, they demolished the kitchen. On the second day, they came to us with what they euphemistically called "changes" to the contract. The original cost for labor, permits etc. was for approximately $12,000. The changes were for approximately $8,000. The majority of the additional cost was for electrical work. We were told that we could pay their price or find another contractor for the whole job (see attached photo of the kitchen when the additional cost was presented to us). We felt we had no choice other than to pay their price even though it appeared to us to be a gross overcharge. The rest of the job was one incident after another which left us feeling abused. As one example of our experience, they installed a new outlet for the new range we were getting. The old outlet didn't comply with the local electrical code anymore. When the range was delivered, we were told that the new outlet didn't comply to local standards either and that the selling company didn't have any cords which would work with that outlet anyway. When we asked Absolute Construction to change the outlet, we were told no, they wouldn't make the change - buy a different range. We called Home Depot who said they didn't sell the proper cord either. We called the local electrical inspector who confirmed that the outlet was not what he wanted based on the local electrical code. He said it should be a fifteen dollar part and a fifteen minute job to make the change. Absolute Construction still refused. We called Home Depot to see if they could influence Absolute Construction to make the change. Absolute Construction told Home Depot that there was a call between the electrical inspector, Absolute Construction and myself in which the outlet was approved by the inspector and that I agreed it was OK. I was not on that call and I later confirmed with the electrical inspector that they hadn't talked to him at all. The company selling us our range offered to change the outlet for a very low price. We were told we couldn't use another contractor while the kitchen project was going. Eventually Absolute Construction agreed to make the change only if we bought and paid for the new outlet. In the end, we waited an additional 13 days for our range because of Absolute Construction's unwillingness to make this simple change of their own mistake. This is the kind of treatment we received from Absolute Construction throughout the project. We found most of the people we talked to on the phone at Absolute Construction to be rude with the exception of someone named Shannon who was helpful. We do not trust Absolute Construction and of course would not consider using them again in any capacity.

    Kucera Construction
Very well overall. Peter provided a very detailed estimate at the beginning and throughout the process as we modified or added things in the project. He was good at answering all of our questions in a timely manner and got the project done quickly and efficiently. His price was fair and he did his best to address all our concerns as they came up throughout the project.

    Mirek's Floors, Inc.
Mirek was the first quote that I got. Because I thought the pricing was good (and because he got great reviews on Angies' List), I decided to go with him. I texted him saying that I'd like to proceed, and asked him to text me his availability. I never heard back from him. A week later, I left a message on his voicemail. Again, I never heard back from him. Lesson learned----even if you think you're getting a good price for a job, get other quotes just in case the contractor you want backs out. It's three weeks later and I'm now starting to look for other contractors.

    Neighborhood Remodelers
We are repeat customers of Neighborhood Remodelers and wouldn't dream of using anyone else for any home construction project. We were thrilled with the results of a kitchen remodel NR did for us in our Chicago condo in 2013 with custom cabinetry and immaculate replacement of the original granite counter and backsplash. It was that level of detail and constant professionalism (friendly, punctual, detail-oriented work crew and company owners who treat us like family) that brought us to NR again when our basement flooded. While our waterproofing team kept scaling back on their original promise to prep the basement and do the demolition work, Luke and Wes and their team stepped in, tackling all of the work the waterproofing company originally promised to do and then refused. Wes stripped the damaged portions of the basement down to the bare cement floor and drywall studs to allow the waterproofers to come in and lay a new drain tile system. Then Wes and his crew carefully put new wall, flooring, and baseboard throughout the entire 1200 sq foot basement. They arrived every morning at 7:30 and worked until 5:30 nightly for three weeks to finish the basement. It looks better than we ever dreamed it would. They helped me make the right decisions about materials and paint and treated our house like it was their own. We are so pleased with the result. You pay for the quality you get, and it isn't cheap, but the results aren't cheap either. Just as with the kitchen remodel four years ago I know NR has added substantial value to our home with their fine worksmanship.

    Central Hardwood Flooring
Virgil is a terrible business owner to say the least. My husband and I hired him to put in unfinished wood flooring to match our existing hardwoods and also refinish and stain them. After questioning his bad reviews we still gave him the benefit of doubt. We moved our entire house into our garage for the time being. He delivered the material on a Saturday to start the project on that Monday. He came in to unload the material and I very nicely asked him if the wood should be acclimated to our home for at least 10 days if not more due to a friend of mine telling me this is a must. He began yelling at me and told me that I should have told him if I wanted it acclimated to our home before it was installed. Now he's supposed to be the professional with 17 years experience, and he should have told me this not the other way around. He was rude, unprofessional and yelling at me in front of my children stating he doesn't have time for this. I asked a simple question and he treated me so terribly. This man should not be in business. His nice, professional act at first is all an act. He's a scam, that just wants your $ and run after the project is completed. He then just started taking the material out of my home and leaving with it. At that point I didn't even fire him yet, he knew I was right and that's why he left. Glad I did not give him any $ and I'm so glad I questioned him before he started this huge project. What a let down. I learned my lesson, this man deserves more than a F rating. Beware!!!

    Simon's Designed Hardwood Floors
He sanded and stained the area twice because he wasn't happy with the way the stain looked after the first try. He said the best result would be to re-do the whole floor but understood that we needed to wait to do that. When we DO, we will certainly call him. He's a real pro!
