Auto Body Repair reviews in Skokie

Dissappointing quality has greatly diminished since 2015. Not only do they not warn you they take off several days for holidays in September but poor communication and lack of apology. Gives little notice on pickup with little care about impact on customer and made excuses. easily disorganized mixing up customers. Do Not going back. Dont waste your time. You can find better.

Bee Zee was the only shop that would repair rather than replace it. They did an excellent job, at a good price, and on time. The fender looked like new, and they added buffing of places that had been keyed at no cost. The owner was a little gruff but courteous. They accept credit cards but not checks.

Outstanding!!!!! Better than I could have ever imagined. Tony went above and beyond in communicating and guiding us through the entire insurance claim/repair process. The repair work was impeccable, the entire car was clean when we picked it up. Our car was finished early which we did not expect. Tony is very experienced in this field and was able to repair our car easily and significantly cheaper than other auto body shops. I would never hesitate to return to McCormick Auto Body. Don't waste your time getting other estimates just go directly to Tony at McCormick and he will make sure your repair is done correctly and quickly.

I brought in my car in to have a tire plugged. They patched the tire just fine. But afterwards the service writer crashed my car into another car in their lot. Scrapped the side of it all along another customers car. When I inspected the damage I was told it would rub out. Ha Ha, the guy broke all the bumper clips, removed a good amount of paint and damaged the plastic trim on the wheel well. After rubbing the area excessively he finally conceded and said they would repaint the bumper and that he would let me leave it and walk to work. I was never offered a courtesy car any sort of ride. At no point did anyone ever even apologize. They acted like my asking to have them fix the damage they inflicted on my poor car was quite an inconvenience. I came back to pick up the car that evening and found they had painted the bumper, but they didn't fix any of the damaged clips or plastics. When I pointed out how far from fixed the car was, they were very reluctant to offer to fix it correctly. Not to mention they still had the gall to insist I paid them for the patched tire before I left. Ha Ha, the nerve. I still don't have a car, we're on day two of this mess. All I want is for them to put the car back to the state it was in before they crashed it. I can't explain how disappointed I am. It's very true that when things don't go as planned a person, or companies true character show through. I am saddened at what I have seen from this place. I'll update this post and let you all know how this saga ends. But I am sure I will never give this place my business again and will warn all who will listen about the character of this place and it's employees.

Required 2 appointments, one for estimate which I had to submit to the other party's insurance, and another one for the actual repairs. When I picked up my car in 2 days, it had been vacuumed, washed, and shined!  Estimate was in line with other shops I contacted, but service was "red carpet."  Color match is perfect. Rental car was picked up and dropped off at shop.

The quality of work is excellent, there is no doubt about that and that's the reason I would go back.
However, the communication and punctuality is a problem.
The work didn't start for 3 days after the car was brought in, because they thought they didn't receive some paperwork from the insurance company. This should've been brought up immediately to my attention, as when I talked to the adjuster, he provided them the paperwork 2 days prior.
Either way, promised call backs have not happened.
No follow up on the repair and no review of the repairs when I went to pick it up.

They were very thorough. The estimate was to the cent. They were able to provide all the information for pricing on parts and labor and stuck to the price. It was also ready when they said it would be. It seemed to be family owned, which kind of added to the over all warmth of the company. This helped as far as making it feel comfortable.

They have diagnosed accurately and come in pretty close to their estimates.  At least once they were lower than estimate.  Larry is great to deal with.  I'm not Jewish but living in Rogers Park I know what a mensch is. In my book Larry qualifies.

We had a little fender-bender and got three quotes, including one from the company whose appraisal was required by our insurance carrier.  McCormick impressed us from the beginning:  not only the friendliness of the woman I first spoke with but particularly Robert who gave us their estimate.  He was thorough, courteous, and explained precisely why the estimate might later prove to be off (they might discover more damage upon opening the damaged area up).  McCormick's estimate was the highest of the three (more than $100 higher than the insurance carrier's company and slightly higher than another independent) but we decided to go with McCormick.  The auto service side of the business is highly rated on Angie's List and Robert impressed us with his attention to detail, his care in explaining things and making sure we understood.
The other thing that favorably impressed us was Robert's quote on the cosmetic "ding."  He could quite easily have charged a much higher price (in fact, the insurance carrier's appraiser did quote a price almost double what Robert's was.)  But he didn't; because he could handle two jobs at the same time, he gave us a very good deal.
When the time came to do the work and we brought along the appraisal from the insurance company's firm, he saw that they proposed to do the work completely differently:  Robert has proposed replacing the bumper and they proposed to fix the damaged bumper.  His estimate was higher on parts, theirs on labor.  He decided to adopt their approach and, in the end, completed the work for the same price as the insurance carrier's company.  When they learned I was going to take a cab home, they also arranged, on no prior notice, to have me taken home to minimize my inconvenience.
Although Robert promised us to finish the work in a day and a half, he called to explain that it wouldn't be ready when promised:  the paint job wasn't up to their standards.  We were, understandably, quite disappointed and Robert was very apologetic.  But, as we agreed afterward, we would far rather wait the extra day and have the work done exactly right.  That McCormick insisted on doing the work right rather than letting it go early--but not fixed to their own standard--impressed us favorably.
It is also worth mentioning that when the time came to settle up, McCormick mentioned something we had no knowledge of:  they were having a $50 off special for certain kinds of work.  We didn't know about the special and would certainly never have mentioned.  They called it to our attention though and our cost was even less than we expected.  Not only did Robert decide to do the work in a different way (saving us over $100), he told us about their special deal, saving us over $150 in the end.
No one likes to have to deal with a body shop; it's time, money, and aggravation.  Not to mention the inconvenience of doing without a car.  And certainly everyone likes to have the work finished on time--or at least when it's promised.  However, under the circumstances, we couldn't be happier.  The quality of the work was top-notch;  they even gave us a little bottle of matching paint if we needed any touch-ups in the future.

Hi-Tech Auto Body Of Skokie Inc. has done body work on our family cars (4) 4 times in the past 4 years. That work was all done professionally and was convenient because they have Allstate and a car rental company agents on site.
But what I really wanted to commend them for was the exceptional service they provided last week - at no charge.
I was replacing a light bulb in the headlight of a BWM and accidentally dropped the bulb retaining clip into the bumper facia. After I could not find it I called BWM and was told that wire clip was not sold separately, but only as part of an $800.00 headlight assembly. So I called the owner of Hi-Tech Auto Body Of Skokie Inc., David, and asked if he could ask his guys to watch for a BMW headlight assembly that they might be replacing anyway so that I could grab the little clip from it. He said yes, but if we brought the car over he was confident that his guys could find the lost clip.
So - I asked my wife to bring the car to them - and the tech quickly found the clip and installed where it belonged.
Agian, the amazing part was when my wife asked what charges were, David said "No charge".
These are the kind of people you want to do business with!
