    General Construction Services
We chose General Construction Services after receiving a number of bids from local contractors that priced the cost of finishing our basement & building a deck at a much higher level than what Dennis at General Construction Services offered. Not only was the cost of the construction affordable, we were very impressed with the outcome. The deck is a great addition to our home and the quality of the finished basement met the expectation of matching the style, color and feel of the rest of the house. Lastly, Dennis' crew is professional and courteous. We recommend General Construction Services for all of your construction needs--they are affordable, professional, and produce a high quality product

Tried calling several times, no one answered or returned phone calls, left messages, tried using their online booking appointment and messaging system but no one responded to the messages or booking request.

We had a very tight timeline and Rick was able to get the job done.  His advice about color selection was great. Rick and his team managed to get our home painted in one day, despite some owner induced set backs.  I would highly recommend him to anyone else and will gladly use him again in the future.

Rick was very quick to return my call and provided a prompt estimate.  Told me when he and the crew were available.  He and the team were on time and left the work area clean and accessible after each day they were here.  The work looks wonderful.  We will use Premier Painting and Design again.

    General Construction Services
In late April of this year we began work on a long-delayed kitchen remodel.  We sought the advice of friends and consulted the BBB and Angie's List for a contractor.  We conducted interviews and chose General Construction Services (G.C.S.) run by Dennis Grothaus, which had top ratings from both the BBB and Angie's List.
Scope of work included demolition of existing flooring, cabinets and a built-in pantry; repair of kitchen walls and ceiling; installation of resilient flooring; installation of new cabinets; installation of seven interior doors; moving appliances and attendant electrical and plumbing modifications.  Work was expected to take about four weeks.  We arranged to live in a motel for for the first two weeks so as to interfere with work as little as possible.
Demolition went well although debris removal was delayed for a week and a half (debris was supposed to be removed daily).  Electrical and plumbing work went well.  After that we quickly came to realize that ours was a back burner job.  Work was rushed and and the crew spent less and less time on site, eventually slowing to a three hour work day.  We began to see problems with work quality on the wall and ceiling repairs which we discussed with the crew chief and reported to Dennis Grothaus.
The flooring work was subbed out.  The sub-contractor worked quickly and in a workmanlike manner.  The result was a beautiful floor delivered in one day.
However work quality problems continued with the installation of the base cabinets.  Working drawings were ignored.  Standard practices were overlooked as well as our clearly stated wishes.  Matters came to a head when my wife and I left together for medical appointments and returned three hours later.  During those three hours the overhead cabinets were installed with the crown molding coming two inches short of of the ceiling and ceiling repairs were still not complete.  We contacted Dennis Grothaus and told him to stop work on the overhead cabinets until we could all sit down and figure out  how to correct the problem.  His response was to pull the crew for three weeks.  He returned with a new crew in three weeks and discussed and proposed solutions.  He promised that the work would resume with the new crew all day every day until the work was complete.  The next day we got a call that our crew was tied up finishing another job.   The following day was the same, and the following day, and the following day, and the following day.
At this point we called Dennis and advised him that we would have another contractor finish the work.  While Dennis was naturally unhappy with this outcome he was cooperative.  Once we secured and scheduled a second contractor the work was satisfactorily completed  in five days including some extras not covered in the contract with G.C.S.  In addition to the time lost while we tried to work things out with G.C.S. work was also delayed because the second contractor felt that it was necessary to take the overhead cabinets down, refinish the walls and ceiling and then rehang the cabinets.  Work was not completed until early August, 9 weeks after the start of work.

Great matching service that worked out great for us. The contractor was honest with us and stated that the job was so minor that it was practically a non-job, which was a relief to us because we thought we had severe water damage. Thankfully he told us the cheap $5 fix, how to do it, and went on his way instead of charging us a ridiculous amount for something that didn't need to be done. Very appreciative of his honesty. Thank you.

    Premier Painting and Design Inc
I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Rick and the rest of the Premier Painting and Design Team. Our walls were in desperate need of painting, after almost five years of wear and tear from three small children. We knew that we wanted a professional, but also were concerned about picking the right provider. We were all too aware of some of the bad experiences others have had with various service providers.
After researching painters on Angie's List, I contacted Rick and set up an initial consultation. Rick was very responsive. He scheduled an initial consultation, arrived on time at the scheduled time and took the time to walk through our home while I explained our needs. He was attentive, taking note of what we considered to be "trouble spots" (e.g., our ceiling needed  a slight repair and painting due to water damage), and discussing our options. Rick agreed to provide a written estimate and produced the written estimate in a timely manner as promised.
Further, we were having new flooring installed in our home and Rick took the time to come back to our home for an additional consultation to examine our sample flooring and finalize our paint color choices.
Rick and his team were respectful of my home and my family. His team arrived on time each day (it was a multi-day job), worked diligently while there and cleaned up and properly stored materials from their daily work.
The job final product was phenomenal. Rick's team painted walls, new baseboards and also painted our fireplace and trim to our all of the doors on our lower level. After their work, it looked like a new house! My wife and I still joke that we can't believe it's the same house.
There is no doubt that I will be calling on Premier Painting and Design for my future painting needs. You should too!

    Briddell Remodeling
We ended up hiring them to do the job. We had a lot of issues during the kitchen remodel. It took about 3-4 mos to do it. We had 2 times where we had to deal with the water leaks – one time they’d disconnected the dishwasher and went home for the evening. I heard dripping, and went into the basement the next morning, and the pool table cover was covered in water. Another time, we had a water leak after they’d temporarily reconnected the dishwasher – but they didn’t do it right. We caught it quickly though -- but we didn't connect any of our water fixtures. They also broke our toilet -- during the winter, the worker took the toilet outside to drain it and left it for 4 hours. We had to pay to get another toilet -- even though we had gotten it less than a year ago. We talked to their guys and found that none of their guys were licensed plumbers. We had to pay for an outside plumbing company to reconnect everything; the guys left and never came back. I think the guys working for him were dilligent in doing a good job but I don't think the owner was in tune with our job. He never returned phone calls and only came out 2x very briefly during the project - only when he wanted money. The owner never followed up with us either after his workers walked off the job.

    Hoover Home Improvement
It went very well.  He was very accommodating to our work schedules and got the project done very quickly.  He also gave us some good advice to call an HVAC service to have a dehumidifier connected to out HVAC system to prevent the bathroom vets from mold because our basement is very humid.

Everything went well.    Mr. Hoover was always on time.   Did a very good job of straightening the studs and replacing the drywall.  Everything is level now.   Drywall was replaced, taped and finished.  Quality looks very good.   Work was done around my schedule and completed in a reasonable amount of time.   Mr. Hoover also provided me some tips and pointers about how to do future work on my own.
