We set up an appointment that was convenient for the contractor, so I shuffled my schedule around to accommodate him. It was important to my wife and I and we needed to get the work done. On the date of the appointment, the time came and went. He didn't show. I got no call, text or email. I email him and related that I can only assume he got tied up, but that I could not wait any longer and had to leave. I related that I wouldn't return home until late evening. 25 minutes later he email back and stated that in fact he had been tied up. He went on to request "Can you send me a picture of the hole that needs to be bricked up?" to "make it easy on both of us". Really? I did not and will not respond back! Very unprofessional to say the least!

He was off the charts insane. I was close to getting online and, I never post anything but, when somebody comes in 10X what others are...it's like  a form of do you not want the bid?  You don't want feedback, you basically don't want the job. He was about $10000.00 or $12000.00 more when everybody else  was about $1500.00 to $2500.00 range. He almost like 10X. We were like, don't waste our time. That was a real downer for him.

With the experience, his dialogue about some thing; I would give this provider a C. The quality of the quote that was provided was way off base, way too high. It's like what you do for no bid, he should have done a no bid. I've talked to some other contractors and they said some contractors will bid so high; all they need is one out of twenty bids to come in and they are covered. That would be for ten or twenty jobs all in one.

Our job is turning out to be a $1500.00 job. He did bid over $10000.00, how many of those...I've been told some of those guys will do that, They will bid so high  to impress certain homeowners;  people like that person and will trust that is a good bid and will go for it without finding out more. We really didn't know in the early stages that a lot of the bids were coming in at $1500.00, $1800.00, $2000.00 or $2500.00 and his came in at $10000.00. We were like, what are you thinking?

You have to get multiple bids. We are up to about six bids. We already have $250000.00 put into our house, every little dime now matters. We went way over budget with our main contractor, the builder. Our house turned out to be pretty complicated with the cost of the custom lumber. It's a very specialty remodel, we just have a little bit of brick work left to do in the front. Every thousand dollar is a big deal. Not that it wasn't before, it's even more so now.

He did very good with providing the quote for the work. His quote...the only thing that was wrong was the number was way off.  His presentation and knowledge I would give him an A but, numbers were 10X or 5X over everyone else's,

They were competitive. The experience was fine, there was nothing wrong with it. I think we will go with a local guy. It's a proximity thing. He was fine but, there is a local guy we might go with. We are just not sure.

    Chimney Department Ltd
THIS PAST SUMMER THE BASEMENT WAS PAINTED WHITE AND I NOTICED RUST AROUND WHAT USED TO BE THE CHIMNEY OUTLET--RUST MEANS WATER SO I HIRED THE CHIMNEY DEPARTMENT LTD. AND WE AGREED AS TO WHAT HAD TO BE DONE AND HE WAS PAID $1.665.00-- THEN THE RAIN CAME AND THE TENANTS (THIS IS A RENTAL) CALLED AND TOLD ME WATER WAS COMING IN THEIR SMALL BEDROOM WHICH THEY USE FOR AN OFFICE WITH ALL OF THEIR TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT. I CONTACTED G. KLEMM, THE ROOFING CONTRACTOR, AND HE SENT STEVE TO STOP THE LEAKING WHICH HE DID--NO MORE LEAKING. THIS INVOICE READS $150.00 FOR RESEALED CHIMNEY COUNDTERFASHING. THEN A PAINTING CONTRACTOR WAS HIRED--HIS INVOICE READS--"REMOVE PAINT CHIPS AND REDO TO SMOOTH WALL AND CEILING--PAINT WALL AND CEILING MARCHING THE WALL PAINT AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE-PAINT CEILING WHITE." JOHN MONAGHAN,THE PAINTER WAS GIVEN A CHECK FOR $440.00. $440.00 FOR THE PAINTER AND $150.00 FOR THE ROOFER IS A TOTAL OF $590.00.

    JAD EXTERIORS
I could not have been more pleased. In the process of siding repairs Slovik the repair supervisor found a large nest of bees in the roof / interior wall, to my surprise. He professional removed the damaged areas inside and out repaired interior drywall and exterior roof to wall flashing. Thank god he did such a nice job at a very low price. JAD Exteriors installed a new Pella fiberglass door that looked like real wood with designer cut glass side windows and matching transom top. The price was better than Pella direct. I now have a go to contractor that I like and trust for all my exterior work. I plan to have them do some inside work in the cold months like installing a stone veneer fireplace in my living room and basement.

We had a very good experience with them. The owner who came out was very helpful and had a lot of good ideas. He was able to implement them fairly quickly. We are really enjoying what he did in our yard. I was working at my own job at home when they were working here. So I wasn't watching them. The cleanup was fine and everything was fine when they left.

    A-1 Safety Chimney Service, Inc.
The 2 men that came out were great. They were both very polite and careful not to get my home dirty. Before any work was done the man that was in charge went over pictures of the problem areas and showed me the quote to rectify the problems. I did not feel pressured in any way and gave them the go ahead. The work took quite some time but when they were finished they showed me after pictures which they also emailed to me. The finished product was amazing.

Excellent job. They offered to come the next morning -July 4 - a holiday. They came, did the job. Came back the next day and removed the concrete form, finished up, removed scaffolding and left. Cleaned up well behind themselves.

I liked that they did a good job and came when they said they were going to.  The mason understood what I needed; it was kind of a difficult job.  I’m moving in a couple of weeks; but if I was staying, I would use them again and also recommend them to people.

    Superior Chimney Services Corporation
I was very impressed with Superior - making an appointment was easy, they called to confirm, and then they showed up when they said they would.  They did thorough inspections of both my fireplace chimney and furnace chimney, inspected my fireplace, took lots of photos (emailed to me for my records), and sat down with me for a good 30 minutes to explain the results of the inspection and outline all of my options.  And for this they charged me nothing - because they were technically unable to fully complete either inspection. Despite the fact they were unable to fully complete their evaluation, they still emailed the photos they took within two days.
The gentleman who inspected my fireplace and chimney encouraged me to go online and check out his credentials, test scores, and standing within his profession.  This kind of transparency inspires confidence.  I expect that I will call Superior back when I have the funds necessary to repair my elderly and crumbling fireplace.  In the meantime, it will look nice and be drafty.
