ASiding Group & Windows Group LtdThis company surpassed all my expectations. The crew that came out completed the project quickly and efficiently. They did a great job of cleaning up at the end of each day. Upon completion I checked the entire house and every joint and seam is perfect. I walked the property figuring I would find a few stray pieces of siding or aluminum, but never found a speck. I would highly recommend this company to family, friends and anyone who wants a quality job on their house.- John R.

ATrela Roofing and RemodelingRyan showed up and diagnosed the problem in under 20 minutes. I'd had 2 other professionals in the attic and he was the only one who actually used a tape measure. He found the issue and showed me a couple of other areas of improvement.- Patrick E.

ADESIGNfirst Builders LLCWe are very pleased with the result of our remodel. We wanted a complete gut/renovation and this was our first major renovation, so we were of course concerned about cost and time--and not knowing really what questions to ask. DesignFirst was a great partner through the project. Their designers came up with a thoughtful design, but were also happy to tweak things that we wanted to change. Their customer portal was modern and allowed us to review all the choices we had made, payment milestones and records, etc. They also have a nice showroom and a good selection of styles and materials for things like cabinet styles/hardware and stone materials. For some small items like cabinet handles/pulls, we were able to find exactly what we wanted through a third-party and it was no problem at all for us to buy there and have them install it. It was nice to find a company that was ok with us buying some items and not forcing us to use all of their vendors. The project manager was always very responsive to any questions as the project went on. We were a bit unlucky in our timing as the Covid lockdown hit our project right in the middle. But the GC and contractors were always respectful and had masks when on the property. And somewhat surprisingly our timeline was not really impacted because of the lockdown, though it was obvious that the company and contractors were having to jump through extra hoops to get things done on time. One thing that was key to our project was the relationship that the company and its lead contractors seemed to have with the city inspectors. Their contractors were obviously known for working to code and making any changes the inspectors asked for correctly. Our inspections went smoothly, and this is one of those areas where "you get what you pay for". I think we paid a fair price and got great work in return.- Todd S.

APerma-Seal Basement SystemsPermaseal was incredibly responsive. Returned my call within minutes, scheduled a visit for the next morning. Tony, their consultant, was right on time. Very polite, very thorough. In turned out that we didn’t need Permaseal’s help for our specific problem, but he worked diligently to determine what might have been causing our issue and suggest potential solutions (in terms a layman like myself could understand). A very, very good experience. Would definitely recommend.- Jason M.

AHills Roofing IncExcellent every time! Very professional and organized! The roofing crews operate as a well oiled machine. We are highly impressed with Hills Roofing in Woodridge, and would rank their crews and work with the highest "yes" rating! We live in Downers Grove, IL. Everything they do is very professional. Their crew workers and job bidder Kevin are highly professional, knowledgeable, organized and efficient. Kevin Hultsch bent over backward to get us a quote and then update the quote for us a year or more later. They have done various repairs for us over the years, always professional and organized. Kevin goes up to roof with his iPad and takes photos to show you when he comes down off the ladder, so that homeowner can see and understand what's going on. We finally bit the bullet last week and had them replace our 24-year old roof and skylights. We are so very pleased with Hills! The crew is highly professional, experienced, knowledgeable and organized and personable. They stay on task, are hardworking, diligent, and efficient! Hills has a helper for the roofing crew, the helper runs around clearing up the old shingles off ground and getting them in dumpster, bringing shingles or plywood up ladder to the roofers on the roof, cleaning up the site constantly. He even used a nail magnet "vacuum," like device to clean up all the nails in our yard each day before they left. The group of them together, two guys on roof and one worker on the ground, were like a well-oiled efficient machine. They were diligence, focused and hard working The workers are personable and knowledgeable. We absolutely 100% recommend Hills Roofing, and their crew of Roman, Luca, and Philipe, the site supervisor Jeri, and their estimator and customer service man Kevin Hultsch. Fantastic all around. In years paste, we have used them for years to shovel snow off the roof (prevent ice dams and leaking) and for any repaors we had.. Fantastic!- Nancy F.

AThis review was written by my wife, Nina. We chose ARC over its competitors mainly because of Robert, ARC’s sales representative. Robert gave detailed explanations and submitted a detailed proposal of the scope of work. He also was open to negotiate the price. It took 8 hours and a hard working three-man team to do the job. When job was done, the lead man went through the scope of work listing in all details. He showed full knowledge of the flaws and existing imperfections in our house that had been discovered by Robert and listed in the proposal. The lead man and his team were very soft spoken, well mannered, modest, quiet, respectful, and showed perfect professional ethics. Thanks to the lead man we now have a proper venting connection of our bathroom fan. It was poorly done by the GC and missed by the expensive roofers. The lead man redid it. ARC is an integrated team of various specialists. Its painters showed up and fixed spots where the nails popped out a little bit because of the work above. They did this the same day and it looks like those nail pops were never there. We are glad that all electrical work in the attic had been done prior to the insulation because it would be very hard to dig through the deep layers of Nu-Wool (NW) material to install lighting cans or other electrical work. The entrance to the part of the attic above the bedrooms was permanently sealed, though it can be forced open in case of necessity to enter that space. An important topic is the type of insulating material. Homeowners who need new insulation do not have much choice of material because ARC’s competitors also offered the same NW. During his presentation Robert demonstrated NW insulation material, which was pressed in a box. We think that this demonstration is a little misleading. As a matter of fact, the customers receive not pressed NW material but very fluffy, light, and dusty material. It did not settle under gravity for a very long time and stays in the environment for a long time. Eventually it did settle creating a layer of gray dust on all surfaces. Continuous thorough cleaning in the house will be necessary until sedimentation will finally come to an end. It is especially important if you want to insulate the entire space under the roof, including the bedrooms and space above the garage. You do not want to inhale dust during your night's sleep. It is not nice to have NW flying in attic, which you may continue using as a storage space. In this regard we think that air duct cleaning should be done no earlier than a month after insulation. It would be nice, very appreciated, and rewarding to the owners if ARC could offer covering the NW surface to prevent light NW material from flying around. It could be done a month or two later.

AGreat! I highly recommend using this company. They did an EXCELLENT job insulating our new home and for a good price too. We had three bids for the job and Illinois Insulators had the best price. Luke, who was their representative for our job, was very professional and great about responding to emails and texts throughout the duration of the job. We are very happy with the work they did there and would hire them again if we were to build another home.

AThe work crew was punctual and hard working. They laid tarps to protect flooring and sealed off areas to reduce the dust and stray insulation. They were conscientious in cleaning up afterwards and in ensuring that we inspected the clean up. AI contacted this company to discuss options for insulating our cathedral ceiling, as we have been experiencing ice dams. The owner was extremely friendly, courteous and highly knowledgeable. He spent 15 minutes on the phone discussing the pros and cons of different approaches, even though it became clear that he would not be able to assist me due to the design of our roof. I would not hesitate to hire this company in the future.

AGood experience. Replaced my roof and siding and windows after hail/wind storm damage. Helped with the complicated process with the insurance company and the city code enforcement in regards to getting everything covered properly. They can't do everything for you but will be there to help when you need it. Big insurance claims are a long and complicated process that involves a lot of negotiation between you and the contractors and the city and code enforcement. You have to be in charge of the process and reading the fine print. No one can do all of that for you and any contractor who says they can should immediately be suspect. Sunshine works as your partner and that is how it should be. There were bumps and like all contractors they were very busy - but at the end of the day they did a great job and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Our house looks great.
