Very disappointing. I called to get an estimate and was handed to a Sales Rep. She always seemed to be very busy - very hard to get a hold of and many times it took her days to get back to me. I found her to be very unresponsive so I decided to pass on them. She never even followed up with me once I quit trying to reach her. Never got an estimate.

Very early in year, March 23, Carl came out and wrote up an estimate. He was very professional and knowledgeable. We accepted and a May date was scheduled. Carl promised a profession job, talked about all the projects he has had in the past, all the projects he has currentlyIm so busy. I was a painful and regrettable experience for the following reasons: Unavailability: there was a time he didnt return my phone calls, thought his office would take care of it, and then said he had had a major medical issue. Delays: -two three week delays due to weather--six weeks. (Numerous days of sunshine in Between). Didn't bump to the next week. -left town for a week to Canada -left town for a week to Kentucky -Original repair date in May, then June, then July -Promised June 18th, then emailed me on June 28th that it would not be until July 16th. -The week/days prior to July 16th, no word or confirmation that work would start All the actions and inactions did not make sense to me, like he had better things to do... Finally, I got my answer. He poo pood my project as one he wasnt going to make any money on. I didn't tell him that we also have a master bath renovation, powder room renovation, kitchen stove update, and bar to install in the lower level, totaling over $15000 of work. After stringing me along for five months I get this email: Email August 27, 2018: After a lot of thought this weekend Ive chosen not to do your decking project. I wish you luck in finding a different contractor. Thanks, --No phone call or explanation! Until After I sent an email, September 19, 2018, to the president Elizabeth, I got a phone call from Carl. It was still all about him and all about his jobs he has and wanted to talk about my cancelation, which was only one to his five! (Which for my cancellation didn't matter, as it rained that day). His explanation included a statement: I should have walked away from your job in the beginning when you wanted to be home when we did your work. He expected me to trust Homeworks of Batavia, having never worked with them in the past. No way! Because he didnt do what he said he would do and it was still all about him. Buyer Beware: No work address, only a cell phone number, Gmail email, and wife who is the president. If he has a more lucrative job or you want to observe while they do the work, your project may get cancelled.

One of the best contractors I have ever used. Came in at budget to start with, and his bid was not the highest. The work was high quality and Tim was there almost every day to ensure this. I am used to contractors postponing or arriving late. That was certainly not the case as did not have one delay. My job included many aspects beyond just the kitchen project we are on. The work on our doors was great. He designed an amazing change to our back door with amazing french style sliders. I had several others bid the door and they did not come up with a design that fit our space. I am using them again for my bathroom remodels and have recommended this contractor to others including my own family.

Horrible. It's a terrible way to handle and run a business. If you have hours that align with THEIR busy schedules which is I'm assuming if you're a stay at home parent with a free moment or work from home and have a VERY flexible schedule, then call away. But if not, don't bother.

We have a unique deck. The house is a post and beam design with exposed wood beams and ceilings. The deck is literally part of the house as opposed to typical 16 on center decks. When you stand in the lower level, the 4 x 12 ceiling beams appear to extend right through the house and out under the deck (photo nearby this is finished). Given the 8-foot span between beams, 2x4 or Trex style decking is impossible, the decking is made up of 3x6s nailed into the beams and horizontally to each other with 8 nails. It is a very stiff construction. I initially contacted 5 different carpenter/construction companies. 2 never returned calls but 3 came to the house, Bryan among them. After viewing the job, the other two never returned calls. From the start, it seemed Bryan viewed this deck as a challenge as he immediately had ideas. I was prepared to contact others but after the initial visit and a number of follow up conversations, we were convinced we had the right man for the job. Bryan was candid about not having a clue how to bid the job but gave me his hourly rate and promised to track it carefully and work quickly. Those commitments were kept. We handled the materials separately and he billed me straight for his time. We wanted the job done right as we intend to retire in this house and wanted it done per original design. The initial meeting was September of 2015. Bryan said itd likely be July of 2016 before he could start. Have you ever had any service provider contact you regularly even in the dead of winter to keep the lines of communication open? Bryan did just that. We collaborated on procuring the wood. Bryan special ordered 3x6 western red cedar for the decking, some as long as 20 feet and I ordered the mahogany railing from the original design/builder in Connecticut. Although we wanted to replicate the original, changes were necessary to meet new code. And Bryan had other idea/enhancements that worked out beautifully. An unforeseen challenge was replacing 4 of the 7 beams supporting the deck. Bryan had to figure out how to remove them, in a post and beam house they go up first resulting in strapping and brackets traversing the inside beam to the outside that he had to carefully remove so as not to compromise the existing structure. On installation of the new beams, he designed custom steel brackets and had them made for the job. It was a brilliant solution. Maybe better than the original construction. Bryan also had to figure out how to install the uniquely designed railing. The new deck is fantastic and we are delighted with the result. Probably stronger than the old one and with a number of Bryans enhancements, better looking. Total cost for the deck was $27,000 with Bryans time $8,000. Not included in the cost is my time since I did the staining. What Bryan didnt charge for is the time he spent thinking about the project, which was evident from how often he communicated solutions during down time. Bryan is a true craftsman and a creative problem solver. We were fortunate to have him.

The entire project went smoothly and expeditiously from our first contact requesting a bid to the final nail securing the deck. Keith's bid was fair and honest and the best of four bids. His son, Nate (crew chief), was very responsive to our requests, alterations, and questions. The crew arrived on time every day, worked together well, and built us a quality deck that we will enjoy for years to come. We are very pleased and will recommend the Deck Company to our family and friends.

Working with Keith (the salesman) and Nate (construction manager) was a wonderful experience from start to finish.  Keith was punctual for appointments to help us determine what we wanted and to offer suggestions and guidance.  Keith responded quickly to emails and phone calls.  When the tear-down and construction began, Nate and his crew were very professional, punctual, contentious and careful, skillful and put on a deck that more than met our expectations.  We would highly recommend the Deck Company.  We are going to be adding a pergola to our backyard and look forward to them doing the work for us in the near future.

Nate and Keith Hudon are the owners of Deck Company. I am exceptionally pleased with their company. From start to finish, they helped me conceptualize a new Trex deck in front of my home. They recommended lights be installed in the posts. The outcome of the project is fantastic. The deck looks amazing and the lights really set off the quality of the Trex product and workmanship of the installation crew. The deck at the rear of my home was refurbished with cedar. It looks terrific, too!
