Basement & Foundation reviews in Rosemont

Atlas was the last of several companies to come and assess what was causing a crack in our family room wall and making our back door unusable because we couldn't open and close it without difficulty. We also had seepage in the basement. Other waterproofing and foundation companies had us digging up our basement and installing extra sump pumps and drain tiles. The foundation companies said we should install piers for prices ranging from $5,000 to $18,000. (We ended up hiring a plumbing company to replace a broken sewer pipe outside with a new one installed in the basement to address wall seepage, but a large wall crack remained that we needed to address.) Atlas was able to meet our hectic schedule and arrived on time to assess our problems. The engineer they sent out was the only one of the companies who listened carefully to what was happening to our house. He carefully measured the family room looking for slope. He carefully checked for other cracks in the remaining walls and ceiling in the family room to establish cracking patterns. He checked out our foundation in the family room, which is a slab over ground but also an empty space where stairs from the basement leading outdoors used to exist. He targeted that area because that's where the largest slope and cracks were located. He was able to report how much our family room was sinking after measuring the room. He said he believed because the foundation was constructed over an open space, moisture had been gathering for years and rotting the wood that was the base of the family room. I mentioned that white spots formed on the walls in winter, and he said that information most likely confirmed his theory. The engineer was at our house for about an hour. He asked for a few days to work up an estimate. We told him we were going on vacation, so he had more than two weeks to put the estimate together instead. As promised, shortly after we arrived home, the estimate arrived via email, along with drawings and a detailed explanation. The engineer returned to our home to go over everything with us, and we decided to sign a contract. Everything continued to move smoothly. Workers arrived promptly at an agreed upon date and time, and got to work immediately. They were walking the long way around to the work site, so I invited them to walk through the attached garage. They moved their materials into the garage, and when they left, they swept the garage cleaner than it was when they started. As they were about to leave, I pointed out that drywall repair was supposed to take place where the crack was in the wall. They checked the contract and acknowledged that was true and immediately went to the store to purchase the materials they needed. They apologized for the oversight and repaired the wall, again leaving the family room spotless. This work was completed before winter began, and I waited to write the review because I wanted to see if the white patches appeared on the wall again as the temperature dropped. The engineer said the white patches should not appear. So far, so good. We have had cold enough temperatures for the white patches to appear. Also, the back door works perfectly now. We also had them fill the crack in the basement wall since it had started to seep after 18 years of dormancy. They injected a product in the wall and covered the full-wall-length crack with another material. So far, nothing has leaked even during substantial rains. We feel Atlas is highly professional. The engineer is the only one who really listened to our house problems and spent time with us. We had multiple foundation and waterproofing companies come in, but Atlas was the only one who we felt wasn't trying to sell us a product over what was really necessary. Hopefully, we will not need their services again, but if we did, we would call immediately.

I spoke with James, on the phone, only to find out DNB does not service my area. Although no work was done, he was gracious and professional enough to allow me to pick his brain on the process and the approximate cost of my project, as I knew nothing about mudjacking. I appreciate the time he spent with me knowing there is nothing in it for him. No wonder he is getting A ratings. I'm asked if I would hire again..if DNB ever services my area..Yes.

I received several quotes from other contractors but decided to hire Damien because of the excellent reviews he received and his ability to work within my budget. The contract was very detailed spelling out everything 4Ever Remodeling was responsible for completing. Damien and his crew were very professional and dependable; always showing up on the days they said they would be working. They cleaned up after themselves hauling away all the construction debris every night. They finished the project on the date specified. I am thrilled with the quality work performed by Damien’s crew. I will definitely recommend 4Ever Remodeling to my family and friends.

I have an apartment building in which the garden unit had previously suffered water leakage.  I had the outside sealed previously, but wanted to get the inside sealed while the apartment was empty.  Chuck came out and offered three different solutions all with various price points.  We agreed to sealing just the inside for now, and if there were future leaks, we would consider the alternate solutions proposed.  In all 6 cracks were discovered.  Chuck had the cracks sealed and each of the tie bars sealed.

I will be using them again for my other apartment units.

Purchased deal in April and had to make appointment in June. The day of appointment I was called saying appointment needed to be rescheduled. At this point I already waited a couple of months so what's a couple of more days right? The guy shows up requesting an invoice showing service has been paid for, or he won't begin work. This was paid back in April, you would think they would have that information, a payment to them is what triggers them to call you to schedule services in the first place, thankfully I was able to find an old email receipt otherwise I would have been screwed. Work was done properly and it was done much cheaper than a competitor. I know we had flooding in the area so they were probably overwhelmed with business, but that just tells me they need to hire more people and not make it an excuse to their customers. Overall I would not use them again and pay more to get the job done elsewhere.

There was a musty smell throughout our basement for the longest time that just kept getting worse.
When water and sewage started seeping in around the toilet in our basement, I knew whatever was going on was getting serious.  I called Dan from AHS and he came out the same day to inspect the problem.
He explained what he thought the problem was (roots from the huge tree on our property blocking the line) and the steps he would take to fix the issue; open the drain, inspect with the camera, clear whatever was in the drain, and put it all back together.   I liked Dan from the beginning.  He took the time to answer all my questions, and didn?t make me feel foolish for asking some of the questions I asked!  I also requested that they install a check valve as I had flooded in the 2008 storms and would do anything to not have to deal with that again.  Simple enough!  Get it done.
Dan and 2 of his employees arrived the next day as scheduled.  Upon opening the line and checking with the camera, he and his employees realized it was not the tree roots-I had a cracked pipe at the foundation near the front of the house.  At this point they had to dig a hole to below the foundation to be able to access the pipes.  These guys dug a hole at least 6 feet deep, by hand, into my garden area without disturbing a single landscaping brick.  Once they  got down about 3 feet, no longer was it just dirt and clay. My foundation is loaded with huge chunks of concrete that had to be broken before they could be lifted out.
They dug for hours without a complaint, until they found the broken pipe, replaced it, and prepared for final inspection by Dan.  As they started to flush the pipe, water came spewing into the hole! Not good!
We then realized the pipe going the opposite way under the house had a problem.  Now they had to dig through the concrete floor in the basement to access the problem.  The joint of 2 pieces of cast iron pipe had shifted apart, far enough that they had to be cut, new pipe realigned and sealed.  This is exactly below where the smell was coming from.
After fixing this problem, they poured and smoothed concrete on the floor.  They reset the toilet. The hole out front was backfilled.  There was not even a speck of dirt left on the sidewalk. You would have never known there was a 6 foot pile of dirt there 24 hours ago!  My problem was solved.
Although I do not remember their names, the  gentlemen Dan has working for him were the epitome of the perfect employee; on time, polite, attentive to detail.
While they were there, I also had Dan re-pipe my laundry sink which was continually clogged and install a new faucet in my kitchen.  While this experience cost much more than I had originally anticipated, it was something that had to be done.   Isn?t that what credit cards are for?
On the positive side, we ?weathered? the horrendous rainstorms of last month with not a drop of water in the basement!    Thanks to Dan and his guys!

We contacted McDonagh & Sons after completion of our last plumbing job in order to have drain tile put in around the base of our entire foundation for piece of mind. Patrick worked with us to insure that everthing was done right. They got extremely busy during the permit process with sevral emergency jobs that did cause a minor delay, however we would not consider that to be any sort of a detriment. We were very satisfied with the work performed and would recommend McDonagh & Sons to anyone!

We initially chose this company after going to a Home Show and receiving 4 total estimates.  Rafal is an artist by education, from Poland, and with his vision we now have the most creative use of space our basement provided, at the best price.  There were glitches with timing and the city approval for construction, but if not for that, the work was done on time and beautifully.
They were clean!!! Each day they bagged up their stuff and removed it, sweeping afterwards.  The crew is quiet and respectful.
There were no hidden costs.  We saw receipts for everything, and the estimate was detailed and exact.
We have repeatedly called Rafal for any large project.  Even with the smaller ones, he will find someone for us , and the price is always reasonable.
We cannot say enough good things about Rafal and his crew.  One of the crew members is his dad.  We have referred him to several friends and one of them also had a complete basement done.
We get complements on our basement all the time - he even helped with the paint color choices so that it is bright and beautiful to be in.  Many of his suggestions were helpful and clearly he just wanted the most beautiful work done. Definitely a great choice!

They have done a real good job. We had an excellent representative from there. We had problems with the basement. A contractor had started the job and couldn?t continue. The representative was able to come up with another contractor who could work with him and solve the problem for us. We are happy with them.

Tim, my sales guy, was incredibly professional. he knew exactly what he was talking about and answered any question very thoroughly. They were as clean as they could be, with the dirty job they had to do. They were also very responsive whenever I had to call.
