Lighting Installation reviews in Rolling Meadows

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Terry, Jody and Brian did a great job. I would always rely on them to do work in my house. They are honest, reliable and skilled at what they do. I trust them to be left alone to do the work when I am not able to be present. The workmanship is high quality and I have been pleased with the outcome. Terry is good about communicating their schedule and calls when they have questions if I am not there in person. It is always a pleasure to do business with them. Their service is excellent.

  • First It took 5 days for them to call and schedule. The day of our appointment DPM called to cancel and reschedule. On our 2nd appointment DPM no showed and never called back after repeated calls and emails from to reschedule. I will be asking for a refund.

  • From start to finish, it took about 3 hours to complete the project. I was very pleased with the result, and feel I got very good value for my money. Rod and Den arrived a few minutes ahead of schedule, put a tarp on my floors, covered or moved my furniture. After careful measurements, and consulting with me as to my preferences, they installed the LED lights in two rows in my living room ceiling, did the related wiring, and cleaned up any debris afterward. Angie's List had run a promotional offer with pricing for 4 recessed lights, but I needed 6 and so they adjusted their price and scope of work. They were careful to clean up afterward, and the updated lighting has made a huge difference in my living room. I highly recommend their work, and very nice guys on top of that.

  • I'd used an Angie's List "big deal" for 2 hours of service for $139.00. Gary and Jeff arrived at my house promptly at 7:30 a.m., and had successfully completed each and every item on my "to do" list in less than an hour. I wish I'd made a bigger list because they worked quickly and capably, and if I'd had more work to be done, they'd have taken care of it with plenty of time to spare. I would absolutely recommend them (in fact, I already DID recommend them to someone) and I would hire them again. It was a pleasure working with both of them.

  • Crew of 2 arrived, quickly got started, removed, installed, and tested lights. Removed old solar panel lights and worked according to plan. Quick, easy, and simple. The work took about 30 minutes. I used their offer for 2 hours of electrical install in case of any issues with previous lights. Very please with their cleanliness and quick response.

  • I bought a deal for installation of a ceiling fan knowing the cost would be more than the deal if the provider took the job. I heard from Goldstream within a day. I explained what I needed/ wanted and received price per hour.
He arrived promptly, calling to check where he should park. He set to work immediately laying out protective coverings. Matt worked quickly identifying various characteristics of the ceiling and where he could fish wire.
With some input from me, he drilled a small hole for hanging the fan and another small hole lined up to connect with wiring in the light switch. He captured most of the dust as he drilled, saved the plugs for all 3 holes I would need to repair. (Which I understood in advance).
I couldn't believe he fit the hangar for the fan into a hole which is now covered by the canopy. I was very impressed with how efficiently he worked.
The job took about 3 hours. The fan with light was running when he began clearing his tools and coverings. He took time to shop vac one area and described how he thought the drywall plugs could be replaced.
The bill was calculated on his iPhone, on which I also signed. Text or email for your receipt? He asked.
I am VERY pleased with having the fan installed. Matt was courteous, efficient, and clean. All appreciated.
If I have other electrical jobs, I'll call Goldstream first.

  • This is my second experience with Neighborhood Remodelers and both have been near perfect. Mike Cooper has been the lead on both my projects and he is exceptionally professional, knowledgeable and pragmatic about both time and money. This time it was my daughter's bathroom and he was able to provide tips to get the most out of our small space. The project started when it was supposed to and finished in a timely fashion, even with a couple change requests I threw in (such as adding can lights in a whole different part of the house). Every detail was finished perfectly -- for both my projects I had two different crews and both were detailed, high-quality and tidy at the end of the day. Their costs are competitive too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend NR, and to use them again.

  • It was great...he was very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. They were great about emailing me and staying in touch with me. I would use them in the future for any electrical issues I have! It took 2 weeks to get an appointment I'm guessing bc of this deal, but he did tell me that I could call anytime and he would be able to come much quicker.

  • David Nowak and PMF Construction were referred to me by a close friend who'd used them to remodel her kitchen, bathroom and do other work in her home.  When I saw their work, it was beautiful.  So when my plumber told me that the cracked floor tiles in my bathroom were the result of a many-months-old leak that had been undetectable and which had rotted out the wood beneath the tiles, I needed to find someone who could come out immediately.  I'd actually planned to do a bathroom renovation later this year, but now it could not wait.  My friend contacted David, and he contacted me, and came out that same night to give me an estimate.  There was absolutely no high pressure.  I thought his price was a little high, but he assured me that his price would NOT go any higher no matter what, and that it might come in lower depending on my materials choices, etc.  (As it turned out, he ended up replacing the pipes which were corroding and which would have created problems within perhaps a year or less, and there was no additional charge to do this).   He consulted with me about what my taste was, and came back the following day with tile samples that exactly matched what I'd said I was looking for. When I described the type of vanity I was hoping for, he shopped various stores for me and would text me pictures, always keeping my need for economy in mind.  After I told him what color I'd like, he selected the absolute perfect paint.  He has an artist's eye.    His crew began work on a Tuesday, and by Wednesday late afternoon, we were able to use a toilet (which he then removed during the day to complete the tile work and then re-set the next evening so that we didn't have to live in a hotel for more than one day during the renovation process.)  His workers showed up on time every day, worked carefully, and cleaned up after themselves every evening before leaving.  David texted or called me every day to see if I was satisfied with that day's work.  He is very down to earth and yet very professional.  Mine was a small job for him (he has done some large, very extensive and beautiful high-end projects), and yet I always got the sense that it was his most important job.  The entire renovation was completed in a week weeks’ time.  Another of my friends had scheduled a bathroom renovation project with a different contractor for approximately the same timeframe.  The work at HER house is still ongoing, and her contractor has sometimes failed to show up on a day he promised to be there, or has given excuses for needing to be on another jobsite before completing her work.  I never experienced that with PMF Construction.   I definitely intend to have David and PMF come back to do additional work for me, and feel very lucky to have been given their name.   I would absolutely recommend their services.  Although I initially thought PMF's price was a little high, they were worth every penny and I feel I got excellent value for my money.

  • We had an issue with our breaker box that was causing some problems with getting electricity to a couple bedrooms.  We purchased a $99 electrical service inspection deal from Angie's List to have the electrician inspect the issue and give us a quote on what was wrong.  Jamie Clar came on-site, diagnosed and repaired the faulty breaker within the first 15 minutes.  Since we had an hour of labor included with the inspection, he went around the house and replaced two other faulty outlets, one indoors and one outdoors.  He also re-wired a 3-way light switch for us that was done wrong many years ago.  We had most of the electrical issues resolved in an hour.

Jamie was very professional, friendly and showed us exactly what he was doing while he did the work.  He was very efficient.  Jamie came to our house in the late evening to take care of the work so we wouldn't have to go without electricity for another night.  We will definitely consider using his company again for future electrical jobs.

The inspection service is great for diagnosing and fixing existing problems.  If you're getting new service installed, I think I would just ask the electrician for a quote instead of paying for the inspection deal.
