    TCB Masonry
Awesome! TCB did a fantastic job! I initially put a request in on their website on a Sunday afternoon for a chimney repair and TCB responded within the hour! Otto and his team were very professional and completed the work later that week. I then had TCB repair chimneys on two other houses. I'm very pleased with their work!

CT's Caulking & Masonry Repair, Inc.
CT Masonry was recommended to me by a local roofing company, so I called and set up a time for an estimate. I was told they would be out by a set date. I called on that date, and left a voice mail. I didn't heard back from CT Masonry until I posted a review a month later

    Advanced Chimney Systems Inc

The response was prompt, with the provider able to mobilize the following day with a crew of 4 tasked to address the various repairs at the same time. The workers were courteous, efficient, cleaned up after themselves, and the quality of workmanship met all expectations. I had no concerns until it became apparent they were not intending to stick around very long...Total time on site from arrival to departure was 4 hours......including a 1 hour lunch ! ! Not that the work was done was clear the proposal as written (no estimated hours, only total charges) grossly overstated the value of the labor needed to complete each task......and that is only the beginning of a rather shameful display of deception intended to catch uninformed homeowner's off guard........

The "New Concrete Crown" for which I was being charged $ 675.00....was never provided or installed. Instead, they opted to patch and paint the existing cap in place, deciding replacement would be "too destructive"...without consulting me first !....They proposed no change in price with assurances they would warrant it "as new"...Total time for repairs - 3 hours max or approx. $ 225/hour for labor !

The "tuckpointing as needed" for which I was being charged $ 725.00 was also completed in 3 hours, and repaired no more than 30 sf of surface area - Total time expended tuckpointing - 3 hours or approx. $ 240/hr labor....$ 25 / sf ! !

To "rebuild fire box" for which I was being charged $ 675.00 they ended up removing and resetting 8 bricks total on the rear wall...3 of which were new ! ! Total time expended - 2 hours max or approximately $ 337.00 / hr labor ! !

Needless to say, after they left for the day, and before they returned the next day to finish, I called the owner with my concerns. I asked on what basis were the labor charges estimated, and he would not , or could not answer. He instead claimed all proposals are quoted "Per Job".....and" once on site it doesn't matter if the job takes 2 hours or 6 hours....we stay until the work is done"....his words exactly !

As a licensed architect with more than 30 years experience, I have first-hand knowledge of current labor rates for all trades, and an awareness of accepted daily outputs for various crews of masons and tuckpointers....When I accepted the proposal, I had every reason to believe it reflected current labor rates, and that there were easily 20+ man hours involved to complete the work.

When I presented the owner with the actual time expended to complete the work, and the astonishing hourly rates I was being charged as a result, he had no comment other than "I will to talk to my "technicians" and get back to you"...

Having years of experience resolving disputes between owner and contractor, I took it upon myself to provide a resolution acceptable to me....I knocked $ 732.00 off the bill and wrote a check for $ 1,500.00 as the workers finished and left the site...I have not heard from the owner of Advanced Chimney Systems again..... and do not expect to....

What saddens me is knowing Advanced Chimney Systems will more than make up for it on the next unsuspecting home owner who may not have an awareness of fair labor rates, how the work will be executed, or the ability to be on site during construction. I'm sure they've mastered the art of talking up a big scope of work, burying all expenses into lump-sum "labor" charges....and taking all short cuts possible to maximize profits.....Providing a distinct service with value does not appear to be a chapter in their business plan...

In my years of experience in the construction industry, I have worked with contractors of all trades, and vendors and reps for all kinds of construction services and products.......First impressions, and certainly on-the-job experiences generally reveal who's in it to serve the customer and give them the best value for their money.....It also reveals who's in it only for themselves.....

Unfortunately, I discovered Advanced Chimney Systems is one of the latter, trying to find their success in the intentional deception of others. I would not, and will not recommend their services to anyone !

Thank you for the opportunity to share my experience. I hope it provides helpful information to those seeking it !

    Fosberg Masonry

Thought it was a fair price and was pretty knowledgable. He was recommended by another friend of mine who also does contract work. He was pretty busy so I had to wait a little while until he got some time, but I wasn't in a rush so that was fine. He pointed out some things that the original builder did that were less than satisfactory. Basically all the work he did is going to last a long time. He said I would never have to have the chimneys done again because he did them the right way. The original builder had taken some short cuts and what he did by pouring them will make sure they last a long time.

    Al Menting Mason Contractors
Al responded to our request for an estimate at the appointed time. The work was done when scheduled. Repairs were made to many places in the brickwork and around windows. The repairs included small pea size spots to long cracks involving many feet. They did an excellent job of matching the mortar color. This being our first experience with tuckpointing, we questioned whether a couple of spots should have been fixed. Al came back out and agreed that they had been overlooked, fixed them and a couple more he found.

    Benson Stone Co
Work was done on schedule and efficiently during a 4 hour period ( not including plumbing hook up by Boomer Plumbing.) Don't have suggestions for improvements. Actual Granite slabs were layed out and displayed for us before final cutting so we could see exactly the seams and cut outs, then approve the layouts.

    Al Menting Mason Contractors
Al and his team knows what he/.they is doing. Looked at the project from the viewpoint of ".... I'm going to make this last 25+ years...." responded quickly for estimate.......there was a pause not hearing from him when the work was going to be done(because of weather), ....then wham! short sharp blow...guys came got job done, very professional....excellent results.

    Al Menting Mason Contractors
I used him before on a chimney rebuilding project several years ago. He was very knowledgeable during the bidding process and answered all our questions and then some. He and his crew showed up on time on the day they said they would, worked hard all day and finished in one day. They were very careful getting their equipment in and out of the house. Their clean up of the job site was superior. The quality of the work was superior. They finished the job just before we got hit with 3 days of heavy rain. We didn't get a drop of water in the basement.

    Al Menting Mason Contractors
Arrived on time and worked all day until the job was done with just a lunch break. Cleaned up after their work. My wife said she went to look at the finished job on their tuck pointing and could not find where they had repaired because the job blended in so well with the existing house. I would hire Menting company again.
