How to Make Kitchen Appliances Last Longer

Chicago Appliance Service Co - Chicago Suburban
This is at least the second time I have used them. They are amazing. If I call Abt for service (which is where I bought the appliances), they will give you a date several weeks out! When I call Chicago Appliance, they are usually there within 2 hours!!!!!! They quickly assess the problem and usually fix it immediately. And their prices are actually very reasonable in these days of "$150 service call charge plus parts and labor". In this case, they determined that the freezer drawer sliders were loose (fridge is 10 years old), so they tightened them and then actually used a blow dryer to get all the frost off the food!

    Great Services & Repair Appliances
Svilen was great. Called him at 9:00 am, he called right back. He figured out what part was needed over the phone. He got the part before he came, and brought it with. Arrived at 1:00, was done by 1:20. Dishwasher working great. Responsive, reliable, friendly, professional. What more could you want?

Very bad. Repair guys had to remove oven to replace coil. In the process, they scratched the wood floor, damaged the light switch on wall by the oven and did not put the oven back correctly. Tried to get them to fix what they had damaged but they could not. Said they are not responsible for any damages that occur during repair.

    Appliance Marshall Repair Inc
Excellent service & real "know how!" Very professional and extremely competent, Marshall Repair also demonstrates honesty and innovation. The ice maker is working good as new! Due to a tight backsplash beneath the microwave, ABT was reluctant to install the brand new unit we purchased from them. I started searching for tile cutter, then thought to call Marshall. After removing the old microwave in pieces, Marshall professionally installed the new unit without disturbing the tile/backsplash. This team is top-notch! We understand their specialty is also dishwasher repair.

    Park Ridge Appliance Service
Called Nick @ 8:30 AM and he said that he was in Wilmette and could be in Deerfield between 11:00 and Noon. He called my home @ 10:40 while I was out running an errand to say he was on the way. He was there when I pulled up @ 10:50. Took a look and determined that the latch was bent not enabling the door to lock. He adjusted the latch, checked the door for any other issues and tested the washer. Nick saw that our washer was highly scaled and recommended cleaning once a month with Glisten dishwasher cleaner and switching to Cascade Platinum detergent packs to prolong the life of our dishwasher. I could have probably fixed the latch myself, however, I wasn't certain if anything else was wrong. $149 for a simple repair, however, Nick's a professional and if he needed a part a second visit would have been covered under his service fee.

Nick answered promptly, gave me a time window, and showed up in that window. He and his partner assessed the problem quickly, resolved the issue, and even cleaned out the dishwasher (showing me how to do it myself the next time). Super nice guys. Would have him back out for any appliance issue.

    Marty's Refrigeration Inc
Marty returned my call within 20 mins of leaving message. Was at my house within the hour. He was incredibly honest in assessing the problem. My refrigerator needed a new part that he couldn't provide. He cleaned the coils and did as much as he could. I would recommend him in a minute.

We believe that for the time Steve took to diagnose and fix the problem (at least 1 hour), his charge ($59) was very reasonable. There was more work he suggested we could do, but he did not pressure us into it.  Steve suggested we replace the hinges on the fridge door, which would cost over $300 for parts and labor.  Steve is very approachable, with an easy to understand manner who very patiently explained the situation to both myself and my husband, separately.

Spoke to answering service and received a call back from Rich within a half hour. As it turns out, he correctly diagnosed the problem over the phone.  Rich came the next morning and was great- knowledgeable, courteous and fast and had the correct replacement part with him. Definitely will call again when something goes wrong.

We had a squeaky Whirlpool 95 series  high efficiency dryer that is only 4-5  years old.  Steve came out to diagnose the dryer and it needed new drum and belt rollers.
He ordered the parts and came back 3 days later and quickly put the parts in and fixed the dryer.  He was very pleasant and friendly and a pleasure to deal with.  As a fellow Angie's list provider with over 250 A review Steve was a pleasure to deal with and I would recommend them without a hesitation.
    Thanks again.
