Lawn Care reviews in Peoria

Barr Landscaping & Lawn Service, Inc.
Paid for lawn care services, response was slow and the lawn care treatments have been behind schedule. They do not notify clients about the delay, or the time frame. The service has been good, but I am not happy with the customer service or response time. Had an estimate for a retaining wall, then estimate was high and based on the timeliness of the lawn care services and the customer service I will not use this company for further work.

Barr Landscaping & Lawn Service, Inc.
I had Spring Green for a while. Although they're cheaper than True Green, they weren't helping enough with weeds and each time there was a different person doing my lawn so there was no consistency or accountability. They spent a few seconds on my back lawn to do spot-weeding but would charge me for a weed and feed(!) My neighbors use True Green, but they are similar to Spring Green; huge outfit with lots of ads and will treat your lawn like they do everyone else's. Also, when I talked to True Green, they did a hard sales pitch and never came out to see my lawn. I finally called Barr and I've never been happier. Jeff met with me and after walking around my property, talked with me in depth about what was going on and what they could do for me. And later, the person they sent out is the same each time and he is also extremely knowledgable. after doing a "real" fertilizing with a spreader and spot-weeding, he suggested I mow higher (and not so close to the ground) and that I do one side of my front lawn *last* since I had dollar spot there 1 1/2 years ago... and be sure to wash the wheels of my mower so I didn't spread it. Of course, no other lawn service had told me that because these big franchises just don't care. Places like Spring Green and True Green need to get in and out and do a lot of lawns to make money and they never customize anything to your specific property. In my case, that means if I had brown spots, I still had brown spots a year later. It's frustrating because unless you're a horticulturist, you don't know why stuff is happening with your lawn--but Barr Landscaping does and they'll customize a treatment plan to your lawn. Price wise, Barr is right in there with Spring Green's price for regular treatments and their price for aeration is close to True Green's. If you have a choice, get it done right. Go for Barr's. Totally wort it.

Durdel and Sons Landscaping & Tree Service
We had 8 large yew bushes that we cut down ourselves but had massive stump/roots.  Ted removed them all with his stump grinder for $20 each.  That price did not include cleaning up the debris from the stump.  He even protected our house from any flying debris by placing a large board  between the house and the bush stump.  My only issue was I had to call him twice.  He was supposed to show up on a Monday night and forgot.   Overall I called 5 companies to get an estimate on the stump removal and Durdel was the only company to call me back.

Cuttin' It Close Lawn Care & Landscaping
Needed last minute yard cleanup before winter. They added me to the schedule even though it was the last day they were performing that service. Came out that same afternoon and did a great job.

    Clancys Clean-Up

I had a deteriorating falling down fence in my back yard.  Time, weather, snow plow drivers and automobiles took their toll on a 4 foot high and 65 foot long wood fence.  Years of repairing and propping up a fence seemed a never ending chore.  The winter of 2015 knocked down a 10 foot section beyond repair.  The wood was rotted.  The posts were snapped of at the ground.

I decided that the fence would have to come down because it was an eyesore and a degradation to the property.   It would take weeks to tear the fence down by myself.  I  could only set a little bundle of rotten wood out every week for the trash man.  My back yard would be filled with piles of rotted fence lumber for months.

In the local newspaper I saw an advertisement of a clean up and removal service.  Clancy's Clean Up was what I needed.  I called Clancy's on Saturday Oct. 10.  The owner came to my home and gave me a reasonable estimate the next day.  Clancy's crew arrived at my home at 1 PM on Oct 12.  Three hours later, the fence was totally removed.  The debris of small pieces of broken wood were also removed.  They also hauled away a couple of other items for me that I requested.

I would strongly recommend Clancy's Clean Up for removal of fences, yard clean up and general hauling.  The price of the service is very reasonable.  The crew is courteous and knowledgeable.  They have the tools, equipment and experience to complete the job fast, efficiently and correctly.

I've had used Nature Scape for several years but was not happy with their service.  So I switched to Spring Green.  However, my grass has never looked worse.  Even with more treatments per year, they don't seem to use very good chemicals.  I have never seen so many weeds in my yard.  I told them when I first started I wanted them to come on Thursdays or Fridays and to call me the day before they are going to come and then to call me when they arrive.  Took a couple visits for them to get this straight.  And still they have never called me when they arrived.  I had a ton of weeds growing on a set of railroad tie and block steps going down to my back patio and although they were a foot high, they never bothered to spray them until I pointed the weeds out to them.  "oh, I didn't see them" was the reply.  Are you blind?  This was my first season with Spring Green and also my last.  The owner Dave seems like a pretty nice guy but I just don't  believe they use good products or spread them vary thin to save money.

The service provider came after a storm that caused major tree damage prior to the limbs being removed from the lawn. He readily agreed to return another day after the tree limbs were cleaned up. He did return a few days later to complete the job.

    Clancys Clean-Up
Having been away from the home during the four days Stephen and his crew did the work, my first impression on seeing the work that had been done was basically "wow, is that nice".  In all honesty the areas looked better than I had anticipated they would.  Wish now that I had had the work done several years ago.
I would certainly use Stephen and his team again should the opportunity arise.

Have had 5 visits so far this year. Our lawn had many issues with weeds, crabgrass and balding spots. This is the first year we have used a commercial service and we have been very impressed with the results and have received numerous compliments on how lush our lawn looks, and the weeds are almost gone. We haven't had much face to face contact but our phone contact has all been very good - responsive, professional, eager to provide information/help us understand how the service works, etc. Cost is very reasonable, we have at least 1/4 acre of lawn. Would definitely recommend and plan to continue service with them.

    Hoerr Nursery
Hoerr did not contact me for over a month. I contacted them about timing, and was promised the next week. Two weeks came and went without any service or contact.  When I was out of town, I got a voicemail that they were coming the next day.  Their communication is terrible.
