    911 Restoration of Central Illinois
911 Restoration came to my mom's house the very day I called them. It turned out that insurance would not pay to have it fixed. They gave us a very good price to remove the waste and insure that the underside of the house was safe for the plumber. The whole team was very courteous and worked efficiently and cleaned up everything very well. He literally helped my mom keep her home because most professionals won't attempt to go under a mobile home. He worked directly with my plumber and together they made it happen. If you want a thorough job and good people to work for you. These guys are it!!!

They sent in two people who looked at the elevator. They tested the mold, scraped down the walls, sprayed a gas into the elevator and did a great job. They were professional, fast, and efficient. It only took them two hours and I am very happy.

    Indoor Environmental Professionals Inc
I was beyond impressed with the entire process! The callback phone call was prompt and professional. They were able to perform the work quickly and were very thorough. There was a portal of electronic documents for me to review the findings within a few days. Then I received a few follow up phone calls to inquire if I needed to follow thru on any recommendations. I would highly recommend this company. I am in the customer service field and this company far exceeded my expectations!

Went very smooth from the initial contact through completing the work, everything was painless. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Called with quote same day as initial contact, called again after emailing quote to see if had any questions and scheduled when it worked for us. Came on time, completed work with high quality.

    Peoria Mold
Bob Meyer (Peoria Mold) went above and beyond our expectations. Today?s Wild West, the mold industry is unregulated; anyone can call himself an inspector and anything mold. Finding a good mold guy is like finding a good mechanic.
So, we did our homework. Bob?s extensive training is ongoing & up-to-date. He has the certifications. He has the references.
He took care of smaller problems for free during his inspection. He also identified our mold source, (a tiny leak under our kitchen sink, behind the wall) which no one else had found.
His work philosophy: ?Get it done.? His team worked fast. (Despite this, we noted a touch of perfectionism.)
Bottom line, Peoria Mold with Bob Meyer & crew left us our home happy and accomplished it all with humor and honor.
    Flawless. Fast. Fair.

    MidAmerica Basement Systems - Peoria
The installers arrived later, but with a phone call. No problem. They then quickly worked to dig up the inside foundation, install a Triple Safe Sump pump, channel system, and a radon system. They were professional, got the work done in 2 days, and came back once to install something that was left out prior to. We have not had any major rains as of yet, so I don't know if it works, but I'm assuming if everything was installed properly, we will have no problems.

The radon system was installed, and it is working. However, it took our radon from 5 to 2.7. While this is a reduction, it is still above what the government suggests as acceptable for a radon system (the little pamphlet that comes back with the radon test results said to try and get the gas to below 2). We called Midamerica on this and they said they would come out and check. They did, and they were prompt. It was suggested that we test again, at our expense, and then they would try and seal around the dewatering system to prevent gas coming up or down through that. We have not received our test kits to retest the gas, and when we do I will add to this post. Midamerica said, contractually, all they had to do was to get the radon below 4. While this is the case, since we spent nearly $1000 on the system, I would like it to be below the recommended 2.

In all, I would recommend Midamerica, as of today, to anyone needed a dewatering system. The installers worked well and quick and were professional. They promptly addressed our issues.

Additionally, I will add to this review once we have had a large rain.

Update: They are working with us to mitigate the radon to under 2. A man came out and sealed the dewatering system further to prevent air from coming up through the ground. They gave us 2 more tests and we will test again. They have been great about working with us.

After the two tests, the radon is under 1. Good stuff!

The dewatering system also needed to be buried outside. It wasn't done initially because the ground was frozen. They contacted us, and promptly buried the pipes outside. We have a watering system outside, and I don't think they hit anything. I will have to check on that. But I know they were careful. We also needed more pipe outside, so as to ensure the water was piped far enough away from the house. They came out and did that for an additional fee.

Update: we have had tons of rain, and were able to test if the system worked. It did keep buckets of water out of our basement. However, something was not installed correctly, as all of the cement poured over the trench is completely damp. When we called, we were told this was normal. However, it is not normal to have water wicking up through the floor. We opened the little access points to see what was up in the channels, and there is an inch to two inches of sitting water. We think this wasn't graded properly and the water isn't draining into the sump as it should. We insisted that someone come out, and the woman on the line was very rude. The earliest someone could come out was in a month. We paid thousands of dollars for this, and it should be working correctly. Waterproofing shouldn't mean water wicking up through the cement they poured. I will update when they come back and check it.

Update: Gary came out around 4:30pm on July 22, 2015. This was after a month of waiting. When I asked when he would arrive, the same rude lady that I spoke to earlier, said she couldn't give a time, but that it would be late afternoon. So, I waited by the phone all day until he called.

When Gary arrived, he was immediately rude and condescending. There are areas of the channel in the floor that are not connected underground with the plastic. These are the areas where there is the most water wicking up through the cement. When Gary spoke with me, he consistently was rude, abrasive, and condescending. He told me it was condensation and there was nothing else he could say. When I asked for further explanation, Gary said, "What do you do?" He then said, "I have worked at this job and been in the classroom for years." He then said, after I told him my line of work, "I wouldn't come to your job and tell you how to graphic design. I wouldn't tell you how to draw the lines and where to put the pictures." This was unprofessionalism to the extreme. He continued this unprofessionalism every time I asked a question, and then proceeded to tell me that if he were to open the little access panel to check inside the channel system, he would charge $65 for an evaluation. He said he would waive the fee, but I am not sure if that will happen. Overall, I am dissatisfied with the customer service, to say the least. Basically, the answer is that this water around the perimeter is because we have a humid basement and if we want to alleviate the problem, we need to install a (surprise!) very expensive dehumidifier in the basement. Guess who sells those? You got it.

I have recommended this company to two other people. I now regret that. Perhaps there are good experiences with Midamerica Basement. Maybe it depends upon whom you are designated. Gary was from Iowa. Maybe those locally are more professional. Who knows. But, I do know that I will never recommend this company. Perhaps if there were a level of professionalism and general customer service, this story would end differently.

Update: August. 2015: they decided to give us a trial of a dehumidifier to see if that will help the problem. We are unsure if it has helped because we have had little rain. I'm not certain, aside from redoing the perimeter, that they could fix this. I'm pretty sure it was simply installed incorrectly.

One of the problems was the amount of time the job took. Whenever they ran into a problem, work would just stop. It took them four times to order the kitchen counters from Menards. I never could get a straight answer why things were so delayed. They were unable to work on unrelated projects, while waiting for all materials. When they came back in January, they were in such a rush that they made many mistakes and had poor workmanship. Their work was chaotic, and completely lacked any attention to detail. The bamboo flooring was not installed properly and pulled back. They did not cut it properly, so there are many gaps. When I contacted them about this in January, Mike the foreman, said that they did not have time to correct the issue. Jim Hanley said they would correct the flooring in the spring. They finally sent guys out in March. They did not fill out the necessary forms for me to have the flooring redone. I have not heard back from them. When they corrected the stairs, per their new contract in October, I asked if they could redo the basement stairs with that stairway. The basement was never done, they only put more nails in the existing stairs. The contact showed what should have been done and that they did not follow the contract. They stated I would get a refund. My calls have been unanswered. I have also learned that so many things were not installed properly. The doors were not measured properly and would not fit. The stair cap was not installed properly. The kitchen faucet was put in backwards. When they installed the closet shelving, they did not put any support brackets under them. Because of this, weight could not be supported on the shelves. They even installed a kitchen cabinet that was dented. It has cost me an additional $3000 to correct all of their mistakes.

The owners were very responsive in getting to us to formulate a plan for remediation.  They were extremely knowledgeable about radon and its effects on people's health, and were nice to deal with. That same week, their installation team came out and installed the system.  The system was excellent from the standpoint of functionality and aesthetics.  We were extremely impressed with the team who came to do the installation.  The men were very knowledgeable and worked hard to complete the job.  They answered any questions we had in a very professional way, and were very nice about it.  The job was completed in a very timely manner.  The team also did a great job of cleaning up the areas where they had been working.   After the installation we ran a new radon test, and the results were excellent.

    SAL Construction Services
Sal was recommended to us by a friend that found him here on Angie's List. We had him completely gut our bathroom to the studs. Overall he did a great job. Everything was undated that needed to be including plumbing, exhaust fan, mold resistant wet area dry wall etc. The shower he built turned out perfect and we get compliments from everyone thats sees it. At first we thought his price was a little high, but we are so glad we went with him. You actually do get what you pay for. I gave him a "B" under responsiveness only because we had to wait approx 6 weeks for him to schedule the work. With that said it is a good comfortable feeling to know that he is that busy and in such a high demand. I would recommend Scott to anybody that wants a honest quality job done at an affordable price point.

They answered the phone the first time I called and were VERY friendly!  They scheduled me one week later and promptly sent a summary email.  They arrived on time and did a great job--very mindful of the fact I will be finishing my basement.  They tucked the pipe away in an inconspicuous spot.  Very good craftsmanship and were finished quickly.  Great people to do business with!!
