Excellent. Once again Brad came through. We had him add 800sqft to our home last year. This year we had him back to take down 2 inches of plaster and install new drywall. He also leveled up the floor and installed trim. Small project but Brad was awesome to work with again.

Kevin did a great job on removing our slab. He was punctual and hard working. He had hired a helper who also worked hard while here. Unfortunately they did not finish the job. They were supposed to also seed and remove some edging bricks from the area and around the front tree. I had payed them for the entire job because we were leaving in holiday and they were supposed to come back to finish on the Monday (only one days work left). When we came back from holiday the work had not been completed. I called and Kevin explained that his helper was supposed to finish the job but did not return to work. He said he would come by and finish it. He never did. I made several attempts to contact him but he just ignored my calls and emails. I'm very disappointed as he did a great job in what he completed. I think he got overwhelmed.

We met with Brad a couple of times during the project scope process and he was always prompt and enthusiastic with our projects and ideas even though he primarily builds homes , he also does a great job with smaller projects like ours.
Brad ensured us we would love his crew and their work ( we were very happy with both).
Brad replaced windows and a French Door as well as added a new window including cutting the hole in the wall, all without any issues. The comfort we got from dealing with Brad is that he is genuine and personable, he interacts with the homeowner and treats them as a partner but will not hesitate to guide you away from making a mistake by offering his experience and advice.
We have a relatively small but VERY WELL maintained home and Brad and his crews workmanship and pride really showed, everything from his suggestions and daily courteous interaction but even cleaned up daily.
Brad was fair with his pricing, didnt try to hide anything or short cut, he simply explains that he does quality work with quality product and is very transparent with his costis.
Never once did I hear " that's good enough"   Brad always ensured the job was done right with absolutely no short cuts.
Having dealt with BAD contractors before I will GLADLY recommend Brad Burgess to any of my friends or family!
We are having Brad quote some more work involving the addition of a covered porch, cant wait for this !

The estimate for the job was within range of what I considered the job was worth.
Minor additional repairs were needed and done for cost of materials only.
After  weather delay work was done as promised in two days , and clean up was good.
Inspection after a couple of rain events , no leaks or problems detected.
Time will tell if any amendment needed for review.  Paper work for Warranty was provided.

Brad met with me in August to view my plan. He immediately contacted a number of trusted subcontractors and had me prices within a week. We signed a contract and worked with my local bank to move forward. Every step of the way--from working with excavators, plumbers, electricians, Brad has been there and provided a level of comfort and transparency for me. I can't tell you how much anxiety has been relieved when I've seen Brad and his two trusted carpenters, Scott H. and Scott H. on the job. He has kept in contact with me and allowed me a lot of decision-making without my feeling dropped on my head, if you know what I mean. Although I've gone slightly over budget (and I mean a few grand, not ten thousand dollars!), it's been because of my choices, not Brad's skills. He is the best contractor I have found in the area. I would trust him with new home construction, remodels and anything else you need. Don't waste time with a crappy contractor! Your life will be bad. Just call Brad.

After a bad experience with a contractor, I started getting bids from other contractors to build me a new (small) house. Don Hoerr and Sons was the best, most professional contractor in the area. When I met with Mark Hoerr, he not only described what his company could do for me, but also went over details, step-by-step about what other contractors SHOULD do for me if I didn't go with his company. I grabbed a notepad and took notes as quickly as I could. He was basically educating me about how to build a home. For example, After excavating for the basement, to protect a homeowner's basement from getting wet later, contractors are required to wrap the foundation in plastic and pour one foot of pea gravel around the sides to protect the foundation from the clay-ish soil. If contractors didn't do that (or don't do it right), later on, the homeowner has to get a dehumidifier and de-watering system (which is prone to growing mold) and may even have to have the soil around their basement dug out again to redo this important work. Don Hoerr and Sons doesn't put one foot of pea gravel around the base before they backfill it. They put five feet of 5/8and quot; or 1and quot; rock around it. Because pea gravel can get crushed down, the larger rock protects the home for decades longer. I've now purchased and read Amy Johnston's book, What Your Contractor Can't Tell You: The Essential Guide to Building and Renovating, but I have to say that seeing Mark Hoerr was an education in itself. Although his bid was too high and I ended up going to another contractor who quoted in the middle, meeting with this company changed the way I think about new home construction. I have vowed that if I ever get a chance to use them in the future, I will. Oh, and by the way, every other contractor (and every vendor I talked to) said that Don Hoerr and Sons are the BEST builders in the area. Don't bother with P and W. A couple I know used them. They talked big about how they built homes one stick at a time... then when they signed a contract, the big wigs (like Dave) left them with the *worst* subcontractors in the area. Their stairs are crooked--and that's just something that show!! If you have a few dollars, go with Don Hoerr and Sons. Best contractors in the area for remodels or new builds.

Arrived on time, Larry was one of the people working on the job so it was not subbed out. They kept the site tidy and cleaned up after they were done. Main thing is they did what they said they would, when they said they would do it. They showed up on time and kept me informed of any issues that may have come up in a timely fashion.

The contractor ordered the doors. Then he delivered the new doors,

removed the old doors and put in the new doors in place. Also they

repaired a rear door that we could not close and lock. They had to

raise the corner of the house slightly because the house had settled

and wasn't level. After the work was completed they called and

checked with us if everything was working properly. The work was

done fast and they cleaned up everything. When I have more work

I will again call this contractor.

Everything they did was great. They came into a very difficult situation and had to fix things that someone else had messed up. With that in mind, and what they had to fix, and to the extent they were able to fix it, it looks great. They had to tear the old wall down and put it up again. I was very happy with what they did. It was a hell of a deal, for what I spent. The money went a long way. I also contracted separately with other contractors for electrical and plumbing and other things left undone that had to be completed. I have a lot of experience with small contractors in the East Peoria/Peoria area. At this point, after that experience, I know most of the contractors, because Peoria itself is not a large city. There are probably about 150,000 people there, and some big factories, but most of it small businesses. I would use this contractor again. In fact, since this project was completed, he has built a bathroom for me at my house in Naperville.

Some of the siding work was contracted out to unskilled workers. As a result the siding blows off during high wind storms on the higher levels. The staircases all leak when it rains and umbrellas are needed to keep from getting wet. We withheld a final payment and had to hire an attorney to resolve the issues with an arbatration judge making the final decision. Also had to hire a building consultant to determine how to proceed with repairs. The repair work was to have been finished by Thanksgiving 2011 but despite a partial payment from the final settlement, nothing has happened to date March 2012.
