About Us

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are anesthesia professionals who safely administer more than 33 million anesthetics to patients each year in the United States. CRNAs provide anesthesia in collaboration with surgeons, dentists, podiatrists, physician anesthesiologists, and other qualified healthcare professionals. They practice in every setting in which anesthesia is delivered: traditional hospital surgical suites and obstetrical delivery rooms, critical access hospitals; ambulatory surgery centers; the offices of dentists, podiatrists, ophthalmoligists, plastic surgeons, and pain management specialists; and U.S. military, Public Health Services, and Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare facilities. CRNAs provide anesthesia for every type of procedure, from simple cataract surgeries to complex organ transplants. They are the primary provider of anesthesia care in rural and other medically underserved areas of the country, to U.S. service personal on the front lines, and to expecting mothers. It takes a minimum of 7-8 years of education and experience to become a CRNA, culminating in a master's degree or higher in nurse anesthesia. Nurse anesthetists have been providing anesthesia care to patients in the United States for 150 years. Numerous scientific research studies have confirmed the safety and cost-effectiveness of nurse anesthesia.
