He was very personable. He explained things well. He understood any insecurities or reservations my wife had regarding shoulder surgery. He made her feel very comfortable. She was in good hands. They're friendly and professional. I had no issues with the staff.

We could not be more pleased with Dr. Lyon, his medical staff, and his office staff. The entire staff was friendly, on the ball, and the whole office just seemed to operate like a well oiled machine. Here are some reasons why we have been so satisfied.

    - Phone calls are returned same day, usually within a few hours.

    - Office waits were very reasonable, usually under fifteen minutes.

    - Dr. Lyons, his Physician Asst., and his Surgery Nurse all seemed to know exactly what was going on all the time with our case

    - Even though Dr. Lyon knew our insurance carrier would not cover post-surgery physical therapy at his office location ( we went to ALG Hosp. for post-surgery PT), he arranged for a pre-surgery appt. with his own PT office so we were educated in how he wanted the exercises performed. This ensured that my wife's PT tracked with his own desires for the recovery. (This in no way is meant as a denigration of the PT we have received at ALG, it has been great, just that different therapists emphasize different aspects and exercises in recovery and Dr. Lyon wanted to be sure that we knew what was most important to him).

    - All instructions were clear and concise. Any questions were explained until we were satisfied with the answers without making us feel we were interrupting something or taking more time.

    - It was made very clear that we were expected to call Dr. Lyon with any questions surrounding the surgery and recovery period. He said it was his job to be available to answer questions.

    - He called us on a Sunday evening three days after we returned home from surgery just to check up and see how things were going and to ensure that we had everything under control.

Had been having knee pain for the past three months. Dr. Lyon's staff took x-rays of my knees. When I met with the doctor, he explained that the problem was an arthritis flare-up and was not severe enough to require any treatment at this time. He was very professional and an excellent communicator. I also asked him about my shoulder pain, and he had the staff take additional x-rays. When they were ready, he explained that I also had arthritis in my shoulder, and gave me a sheet with exercises to help and had his nurse explain how to do the exercises. He told me that should my pain be severe, there were other treatments that could be tried, other than a knee replacement, and I should call if I needed to. Fortunately, my pain has since gone away.

His knowledge goes above and beyond just the basic field of orthopedic. He is a surgeon. He does not jump into surgery as your fix off he really believes to take a step at a time. He tells you to first try rehab and all other treatment options but if all the treatments fail only then he is ready to discuss surgery with you. He threads slow regarding surgery. He does not close the door for holistic treatment in addition to your western medicine. He really listens to what you have to say. He is extremely good at drawing out detail from you so he has a real clear idea of whats going on. His questions are thought provoking. He can detail out to the point where you dont realize you had some of the other symptoms. He has good composition for that. There is a fine line between orthopedic and rheumatologist. He is very good at finding where that defining line is. He gives good recommendation for rheumatologists. He is not the one who will keep treating you for orthopedic if that is not the case.
