Hardware Store reviews in Park Ridge

We were in the store and noticed they were having a great sale on carpet. We started talking to one of the people that works in that department and found that even the carpet on the giant rolls could be installed. We asked about getting a price and she sat us down to talk about pricing. We said that we had furniture that would couldn't be moved from the room including a piano and she said that if you paid a fee you could have up to 7 pieces of furniture moved and she specifically mentioned that the piano would be included in that price. I also said I had some concerns about how the carpet would be put in because our house is a 100 year old quirky thing. She said the when I spoke to the people on the phone to schedule a measurer they would answer my question. We paid the fee for him to come out - $35 non refundable but it would be deducted from the price. They called, I asked my questions and they said to ask the guy that would come to the house and measure. He came and I asked him several questions and he said he didn't know the answers and he said the installers would know that information. That left me frustrated and not feeling good about the quality of the installation. He left and within two days we got the official cost -  it noted that they would not move the piano. I talked to someone - Tommy - on the phone and he said there was nothing to do about it, we would have to move the piano. I couldn't pay extra, I couldn't sign off about them not being liable - they just wouldn't move it. I told him we would never have paid to have it measured if that was the case. He was very unfriendly and short. He said he would get back to me and never did. I finally got a call from the store and told them what happened and was told that I could get a refund. When I went into the store I was helped by a gentleman that was great to work with and very helpful. But I told him I would not be using their carpet service again as the people they used were not helpful or friendly. He said he understood but that in the future he would be happy to help me in anything else and I sincerely thanked him as he could not have been better and made the entire experience end on a good note.
So in the end only the customer service people were good - I don't know if the person in the department was misinformed or just misleading. The person that comes and measures is the only person actually seeing your room before you pay for the job and he should be able to answer your installing questions. And then the people that call you with the final pricing should be helpful and attentive. I gave a C because the two people at the end were A's but I think everything else was an F.

I try to go to other locations, other than the one by me. I don't feel this location is very good. They vary by management. Other contractors told me they have problems with this location. If you work at it, they are pretty good. The amount of products they have is pretty good, and they are priced pretty well.

I cannot recommend them enough. They came in on time and on budget. The quality of the work was great. Chester and his guys worked really hard. Chester clearly has a lot of integrity. The workmanship was impressive. You can not tell where the original rooms end and the new begins. Even neighbors have commented on how good the outside looks. This was a great experience.

I can purchase the water heater and installation all in one. They are a little more expensive.
