The Basement Men & The Concrete Man
As a lot of reviews here we got a bad experience with Steve. I truly doubt the good reviews since before the final discussions he wanted to offer us a $200 DISCOUNT FOR A GOOD REVIEW. Just be aware and read carefully all the F reviews there to learn ahead who are you dealing with. After getting big money from us in a period when this business is very slow, he has decided not to finish the job unless we consider a part of it a different job and we pay extra. This was the installation of handrails and spindles that he was looking again to rip us off with. He started before Christmas and after they got the $$$ thousands in down payment and dogged in the basement, Steve decided not to continue the job without extra money. He threatened me with living the job, if otherwise. In the end he tried to intimidate me with his lawyer. I feel cheated and deceived by this individual and I warn everyone to watch out. Here is what we were asking him for and he didn't done: *credit for services that we no longer needed and were included in the contract: **laminate countertop installation **removing and moving kitchen cabinets from upstairs kitchen to the basement **Installation of a storm door *Credit of the extra work for ejector pit (he had charged us with extra money without a legitimate explanation. He had threatened me to leave the job if I dont pay. With a young toddler in the house, all the debris resulted from digging and an open foundation, I paid him to have a peaceful Christmas. Moreover, there were thousands of dollars given to him in the down payment). *Credit for the extra payment for can lights. The contract states 15 can lights, and he had installed 16 and he charged us for 2 extra more plus about $100 for the kitchens can lights without a legitimate explanation. *We wanted a full replacement of both WASHER and DRYER machines. His subcontractor has scratched and damaged our appliances. Patching them up is not good enough for us. They were brand new and we have all the paperwork from ABT and pictures to prove it. *We wanted 4 of the 6 panel doors installed to be replaced with flat panel doors because they have been cut and we are not pleased with the look. *We wanted the toilet paper holder to be replaced. It was installed in a wrong place *The entrance door needed to be painted and finished inside and outside plus the walls need to be painted. *The wall by the stairs needed to be painted up to the ceiling *Kitchen cabinets, faucet, sink and appliances need to be installed/ connected per directions given in the contract *The mechanical room needed to be cleaned of all the debris left there *The small access door from the electrical box needed to be finished and painted *Some wires in the living room are exposed and needed to be covered so they dont become hazardous *The bedroom and living room walls needed some touch-ups *Door handle installed at the bedroom door *Proper cleaning of the job site. I am very disappointed with the outcomes especially because we were so fair in dealing and paying him We had made 9 payments for him instead of 3 major ones, because he has asked us for money to pay his workers or materials. Each time he asked us for a payment, we were right on time and pleased him. We even paid him half of the final payment without completing the job. Moreover, we have paid for the delivery of floor, cabinets, vanity and doors to make it easier and faster for his workers. We have made 2 extra trips to Lowes for floor since some miscalculation occurred. Steve refused to do any of those above, blaming us for everything. His subcontractor left us on a Friday without power in the living room, and Steve considered this our existent issue and he thinks that we should have paid for his subcontractor's services. Basically, this individual will not take the responsibility at the job and all he will try to do is to rip you off. I have learned about poor business ethics, no moral integrity or professionalism with this individual. I am not sure what YOU are looking for?!?

    Great Lakes Builders Inc
Great Lakes Builders saved my home! After extensively researching the issue, I was referred to Great Lakes by a colleague in the insurance industry. I contacted the firm, met with Martin and Mike and instantly felt confident in their ability to do the work. It was not an easy project, the home had to be raised and supported, a new foundation dug and poured. The foundation walls were replaced and the house was set back on the foundation. The home is 120 years old with all plaster walls. What amazed me was how carefully they worked and when it was finished, not one crack! They are true craftsmen and experts in this field. They are punctual, the work site was kept neat and clean and they kept me informed every step of the way. Most importantly, they are concerned with safety. They dont take short cuts and their structural engineer was terrific. In an old home there are always projects. I am going to use them again for some foundation work on an addition that was done to the home in the 70s. I highly recommend this company to handle foundation and structural issues with homes.

    Joe and Tony Landscaping LLC
Great! Dan M assessed the yard space and designed a software program to show us options for all plantings and design of patio and walkways in front and back yard. When we agreed on the project he met me at Lurveys to look at all stone and brick options and assisted me in my selection. I was impressed with his knowledge of all trees and plantings. Lighting was installed as well. Our project was large at $40,000 and the patio is stunning. Several trees were planted and 1 was removed. Our parking pad / basketball pad is perfect and all drainage for the yard was taken into consideration. I have had the crew back repeatedly the last 5 years for all spring and fal cleanups and addrl needs. The guys are polite clean and do great quality work - Not to mention friendly! Very confident in work all the way around! BTW Dan recommended both a fencing company and True Green which have both worked out well. He is a quick text or phone call away!

    Xclusive Concrete & Brick Paving
Absolutely the Best! If you read only one review - make it this one!!! From the process of obtaining the permit to a finishing landscaping touches, Tony and his crews were beyond professional a pleasure to deal with! I am a perfectionist and a total nitpicking kinda guy! so take it from, I constantly worry about every little detail, and our project, of course, was the most special out there! We were putting in more than 850 SQ Feet of concrete, plus pavers at the front entrance, also we had to move a downspout under about 30 feet of new driveway. It was complex! Everything went smoothly as we planned, we are left with an impeccable looking driveway, And if you haven't seen their work - you should! These guys are artists, with great structural know-how and a great attention to details. Tony provided a very competitive quote and there was no sign of any corner cutting! From installation of the reinforcing re-bar, to 42" deep pillars all the way to the Control joints that are so superbly done, and orchestrated to carry the water out so that no water is retained (and cause ice damage during the winter months). The crews were very professional and during the two days of demo work, left the job site, tidy and safe for kids! Xclusive concrete is a well-respected company and had no issues with the inspectors from City officials. (which I was naturally worried about) Due to concrete finish that we have chosen, the concrete 'pour' had to happen on two separate days. - The end result is just perfect, just as I designed it! =) I myself am still in awe of the end results and are grinning every time I get into the driveway. We have neighbors walking up and congratulating us on the makeover, and wanting to do the similar project in their front yard! I can whole heartily recommend Tony and his crew for your brick paver and concrete work. A+ and a Job well done!

    Lopez Concrete & Brick Paving
Saul responded quickly with an estimate and work began in a timely manner thereafter. Saul arrived with a small crew and completed the work in approximately five hours. The finished product is flawless. Even more impressive, and highly appreciated, they left the job site immaculate. They swept and hosed down everything. We are very happy.

    Danley's Garage World
We hired Danley's to wreck our existing garage and build another one in a different part of our property. This was seriously one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a contractor.
To start, there was not just one contact here. I had to deal with every individual sub-contractor myself, Danley's did not deal with any of them. Our brick garage was demolished in Fall 2014. We were left with a terrible mess of a yard, but that was somewhat expected  considering they demolished a garage. We were scheduled for April 2015 to have our new garage built. I finally got someone at Danley's to get back to me end of May. The pad was poured at the beginning of June. The sub-contractor that poured the concrete also left a huge mess. They got concrete all over my paved driveway and all over my brand new cedar fence. When I complained, they came and cleaned up some of their mess. Next phase was garage build. I hounded Danley's with emails and phone calls. Probably 3 dozen in all before they finally scheduled the garage build. It was finally put up at the beginning of August. I had signed a contract with a special scalloped siding for the gable. When they showed up to build the garage they did not have the scalloped siding or the garage door! The garage door was put on maybe a week later after more emails. Then the scalloped siding was delivered a week later, and they had ordered the wrong siding AGAIN! The garage was finally finished about mid-September after  about another 2 dozen emails and phone calls, all unanswered. They finally finished because in my last email I threatened to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. After all the complaints and everything, I didn't even get an apology. Just a call telling me I needed to pay my bill that they didn't send me. They didn't even discount anything.
All in all, I thought $15,000 was the best price I'd found so I would go with them. There was an additional $1300 charge from the concrete company because they poured more concrete than what was on the contract. My beautiful fence and paved driveway was ruined. It took nearly 4 months to complete and dozens and dozens of calls/emails to complete. And not an apology or anything. In fact, Danley's keeps calling me to sign me up for more work. Yea right. I would never use this company again! The end result is nice, but it was more hassle than it was worth and it ended up being more expensive than the other company that seemed much more professional in hindsight. Taught me not to just go with the best price.

    Expert Concrete Solutions Inc
Jack came out gave estimate and I asked him about spalling walkway in back of house.  He said if rear was done it would not match other concrete in back-not to do. He  set up appointment and came out with a helper and performed work as agreed upon including caulking concrete by brick.  After completion, there were a few minor issues that had to be taken care of.  I called and Jack came out and took care of them.  Pleased with his work.
