Radon Testing reviews in Palatine

Ryan (installation tech) came to my home on time and got to work immediately. He quickly assessed where he was going to drill the holes in the basement floor and the exit point from the house. He also sealed up the sump pump cover and any cracks in the basement floor with caulk. One of the nice things that RadoVent does is match up the exhaust piping outside of the house with the exterior coloring of the house (they'll paint it if needed) so it doesn't look unsightly. The exhaust pipe is actually aluminum gutter material and is "camouflaged" by looking just like another gutter pipe. They probably have one of the best warranties in the business so it is probably worth going through them instead. They stand behind their work and insist that we contact them for any issues or questions. They will work with you to bring down the radon level if the system doesn't initially work at no extra charge. Fortunately, my radon level came down to 1.0 pCi/L from 9.5 pCi/L, but I know if there's a problem down the road I can give them call and they'll come out to remedy the issue.

More like the follow up, once the system is in and your trying to get the particular reading levels that you want, I kind of felt like their system was in, it was kind of like your own kind of deal and so basically what they do, they hook up piping that goes underneath like maybe your garage and stuff like that in your basement place that might be covered to get the radon out and they also like seal like your sump pump covers and stuff like that in the basement, try to prevent ways from the radon getting in and they did a nice job like installing the system and everything like that, the problem was we had a leak with our unrelated to the radon system it was with our some sort of like the air conditioning condenser that'as like in your furnace or something. it melted and so we had water that was around the sump pump in the basement we were sure water had come up through the sump pump cover or whether it came through windows that were in the basement or where it actually came from and while we are trying to figure this out we thought we may need to get into this sump pump to see what was going on in there whether that was part of the issue and of course the sump pump covers are seal for the radon thing and so I had contacted him about getting in there he was kind of like ah just screw them out by yourself and screw them back in when your done it will be fine it was kind of like we just spend like a ton of money like putting those radon system to reduce radon in the basement and this was a I don't know how much of a bigger deal that is you'll be fine, just kept and eye on the readings and let me know if there is a problem but he was very kind of like he didn't want to really be involve in it at all and it kind of put me a little bit.

It went awesome! They found the most unobtrusive way to route the PVC pipes for the active system, virtually invisible inside and outside the house, fabricated custom covers for the 2 sump wells and calked all accessible joints in the basement and crawlspace. All in one day. When one of three tests came back 0.1 pci/L high (2.8) they returned and installed an additional draw point at no additional charge. All work was perfectly executed and when the crew cleaned up it was as if they had never been there. This is a truly professional company that knows it's business.

Rich was fabulous.  He was very professional, punctual, and easy to work with.  He is very knowledgeable about what he does, as well as a lot of other things, and I would recommend him to anyone.  The work took him only two days and he stayed until the job was finished.  Very impressed!

When it comes to mitigating radon in a house, Rich Whisler is a detective, a scientist and an artist all in one.  When Rich first came out to give me an estimate on a radon mitigation system, I thought he'd be in and out in 20-30 minutes, however, it was about 2 hours before he had come up with his attack plan for installing the system.  And in the process, Rich taught me things about my new house that would have taken me years to discover on my own.  He really thought through the best way to run the PVC piping to get the radon out of the basement and from under two slab sections of the house (garage and addition).  In the end, the piping is very well hidden and not at all visible unless you are really looking for it.  The exterior fan unit and discharge piping blends in really well with my house and is hardly visible from front yard and street.
Now, let's talk about results - during the home inspection, we had a professional two-day, sealed house radon test run and came up with an average score of 17 pCi/L.  With 4.0 pCi/L being acceptable, our score was pretty high.  Now that all the work is done and the system has been operating for over a month, we're seeing average scores in the 2.5-2.8 range.  The system is quiet and has run without issue so far.
As a lot of radon comes out of the sump pits, Rich really knows sump pumps as well.  I had him and his crew replace 3 old pumps and run new discharge piping for the backup pump in the primary pit.  I talked with Rich for about an hour on the best pumps and backup systems to install and so far, I am very happy with the results.  He also installed "The Silencer" quiet check valves and the annoying CLUNK i used to hear when the pumps shut off are gone.  The only thing we hear now is the rush of water through the PVC pipe, but that is unavoidable as the main sump pit is directly below our master bedroom and the the piping runs right under the bed (the only way out of the basement).
Lastly, Rich's entire crew was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly.  When the work was done, everything was cleaned up very well and they checked everything several times before leaving.  I was educated on the proper operation of the radon system (minimal) and the new sump pumps. All the piping and wiring was buttoned up well and looks really clean and neat.   I enjoyed talking to the crew about the work in my house, home repairs in general and other fun topics.  I would recommend Accurate for radon mitigation, sump pump work and any of the other services they provide.

    ARMS Radon Mitigation Service Inc
From start to finish, ARMS was a pleasure to do business with.  Starting with Shannon in the office who fields the phone calls:  she was very friendly, helpful, and took the time to answer all my questions and explain the procedure thoroughly.  She called a couple days before our appointment to confirm.
Wayne and his assistant showed up right on time and ready to work.  They walked us through our different options for installation and gave us their recommendations.  They went right to work and didn't stop until the job was complete.  Wayne showed me the completed project, both inside and out, and provided me with all the documentation.  The quality of the work was top notch.  They cleaned up very nicely after themselves.  They were both very professional and courteous.

A.R.M. was the highest cost bid, but we chose them because of their reputation for getting the lowest radon measurement and a quick installation schedule. And, they delivered. Our house went from a rating of 13 to a rating of .5.

Very smoothly. Communication was timely and informative. Owner and two staff performed the job. Work plan was explained in detail before work began. They were even kind enough to change their plans somewhat mid-stream due to my need to take a half hour business call when they had planned to be boring a hole in the slab. Still completed the work in a timely manner, in accordance with original time estimates. Installation was professionally done, including proper caulking around ridges in a stucco exterior (keeping water away from the pump/fan assembly while still allowing stucco to dry to the outside when it inevitably becomes damp due to humidity along the drainage plane behind. This was a careful, well-planned and well-executed job.

    VSI Radon Reduction Corp.
Our house was tested for radon and it was above acceptable levels. VSI made an appointment, reviewed the situation, provided a quote and completed the installation exactly as they had described. They were a little higher in price, but were recommended by friends, so we went with them.
